  1. thats why i was asking. $30 for 3 lures is a bit considering i can buy 3 decent rapala for under $25 if i get the right deals.
  2. ngcsports.com/moreinfo/new_bite_light/newbitelightinfo.cfm i have seen these lured advertised once or twice on a outdoor channel and i wondered if they really work the way they do? if it really catches fish the way it says would it almost conisdered "cheating" ? i understand how another fisherman could consider it to be wrong to use a lure like this as i can take out some of the skill needed, but on the other hand it is just a lure like any other but with a built in light. whats your thoughts? you think i should try it?
  3. well i went out to cabela's and basspro to get some stuff. i had $40 set aside for each store.. and man my wife is gonna kill me now. i baught a few of the bonefish sliders your talking about as well and in a few weeks i will be giving them a shot. i ended up spending around $400 total between the stores... i hate those great sales.. baught a new ultra light rod and reel and a bunch of flies and some poppers. worse part is i need a new tackle box to hold everything.
  4. i must add that i read and enjoyed every one of those articles. thanks again for taking the time to collect those links for me.
  5. lol i stole the first links title.. sorry THANKS FOR THE LINKS!
  6. I was wondering if anyone around here uses a fly rod setup for LM fishing? i just got into it and could use to lure tips. i wasnt into fly fishing at all until earlier this year i got a chance to work at 3m scientific angler for a few months. since then i have been hooked on fly fishing for panfish and bass.
  7. so gimme some brand suggestions. and what is the point of tying on a flouro leader on?
  8. so i was in the store today lookin at some spiderwire stealth braid. i was looking at the 10# but it said diameter of 2# mono... so does that mean its as strong as 2# mono? Would a thinner diameter of braid give me more sensitivity? i've used flouro for a few years now and i really enjoy what the line bring to the table.. except the sinking.. which is another reason for braid. from what i understand is that braid behaves like mono on top of water right? would it be smart to get a braid/flouro mix? do they even make that? i normally use between 8# to 12# flouro/mono, what pound braid would substitute these? thanks for any input!!
  9. awesome i dont know why i never through of using brush as a weedless guard.. THANKS A BUNCH!

so i was out in the garage today making me up some jigs. a majority of the ones i have are not weedless. anyone have a way to make a jig weedless?
  12. The more money you spend on a baitcaster will result in a better piece of equipment. spinning reels.. you can spend $30 and get something that will be good enough for a season or 2. as far as rods go, it depends really on preference for price and brand. i use nothing but ugly stik's but thats my personal preference. your best bet for finding a rod would be to go to the store and whip a few around ( be cautious of whats around you before hand ) . one thing that is a must with spinning reels is instant anti-reverse. IMO. as far as getting a baitcaster, it is a bit difficult to learn. you need to learn how to tune your baitcaster! yeah sounds silly but these things have magnetic brakes and such, and depending on what you cast you may end up adjusting it often, a lighter tackle may require more brakes compared to a heavy lure would require less brakes.
  13. just barely legal at 15" the pounds are unknown to me.
  14. wonderful looking fish!! if my little boat could handle the bay i would be out there! If ya plan on coming by sanfrod lake sometime i may be able to point ya to some bass hotspots
  15. when parents bring their youngins down to learn to fish and the child gets a big one on the line and the parent takes over to real it in. maybe thats just me being annoyed by my fishing teachers for doing that to me when people expect you to only be fishing straight out in front and stand 5ft from ya when your fishing buddy INSISTS on borrowing your favorite lure after losing 3 himself. Like many others, boaters who think they are better then the little guys. people who pretend to know what they are talking about. fishermen who are dedicated to one type of reel and try to convert you even if your using the same gear. DNR for taking away baiting for hunting season. thats all i can think of,
  16. i only keep ones i catch im my privately stocked ponds. when i fish im not out for the biggest lunker, its just a blast fishing, but if i told ya all my good fishing stories, they have nothing to do with actually fishing lol
  17. oh... i fish for the food come season to keep. bass arent the best fish to eat but my wife isnt picky.
  18. SO, i have read quit a few posts talking about frogs and lures and such. anyone like using light or even ultra light? i love using ultra light to bass fish. put some 6# flouro on it and im set. Not trying to push buttons being the new guy, but doesnt it defeat the purpose of using a 30# line that would probly never break unless a log gets in the way. but thats my opinion. i enjoy having to take time and wear the fish out to bring it in rather than just muscling and dragging the fish in... anyways whats your set up or "dream" set up? i only spend atmost $60 on a reel and $40 on a rod.
  19. wow thats some big line! i use a 6' rod with 10# flouro and it works great with my spro poppers and bronzeye juniors. never even considered there was a type of rod for frog fishing.....
  20. thanks for the welcome guys! its the start of a beautiful relationship.
  21. Hello all, I am Alex. I am 21 from Tri Cities michigan. I have fished since i was 13 and right away I fell in love with bass fishing, mainly large mouth but pound for pound smallies seem to put up a bigger fight. I love my buzzbait and frogs, i use nylon mono filament for its "floating" properties. Even tho i have been a fishermen for 8 years, i am no where near a seasoned vet or a daily angler, more of a long weekend warrior of the sort. looking into a few novice competitions as a matter of fact. well thats all i gots to say. thanks for reading!
