  1. the rings on it are like 1/8th inch deep... maybe a little bit shallower but. im really considering getting some decent baits that may be similar, i like the twister tail tho, any suggestions on what to get? Berkley power bait? I FOUND EM!! http://www.***.com/Uptons_Ribbed_Tail_Worm_10pk/descpage-UPTNRIB.html#multiview
  2. i'll have to look that up, i was using it in some grass and BAM! i had me a nice 14" LM bass and a few minutes later i had another one on the line . I never really had faith in this kinda setup, i always prefer top water or a crank bait. but man.. i think im already addicted to it.
  3. my wife found this on the ground by the local fishing hole, i've never really used plastic worms, but this thing is killer. i was wondering if any of you knew what this was. i asked the local bait shops but they wouldnt know a sinker from a bobber.
  4. X3 a fly fishing forum would be pretty nice.
  5. nice fish! its always great to go fishing with the old man. i bet that fish felt like alot more than 5lbs on the line! its all about fun in the end! i caught a small 1/2lb blue gil once that put a fight that would rival a northern. i still get picked on about that from my fishin buddies
  6. i do that with a mimic minnow i have caught ALOT on it, everything from small rock bass to some decent 2-3lbs large mouths. its actually become a goto lure if nothing else is working EDIT: i use a clip on spinner thing, but looks like your paddle tail setup
  7. i hope you didnt catch her on a treble.. i did that once.. didnt turn out very good for me... lol but seriously thats pretty cool, my old lady like to use a micro light and go after panfish..
  8. i will be doing this tomorrow thanks for the tip!!
  9. I have had this happen just once and i was using some small minnow jig setup on my UL and a bigger fish than i was prepared for took it, and straightened the hook a bit and took my little rubber minnow body always a fun fight on a UL tho
  10. holy crap i know where your coming from man. i was in a little 12ft aluminum boat with the father inlaw, i got out a lipless crank with teble hooks and well.. if you ever wear netted material basketball shorts.. treble hooks are horrid to remove from them.. i ended up taking my shorts off in the boat and then i got frustrated and pulled as hard as i could on land to remove it and 3 barbs went into my finger.. so even more frustrated i just yanked them.. ended up with stitches. needless to say everything that had treble hooks now have a single hook... by the way hope the finger heels up good and i'll try the barbless hooks.
  11. I've always been a Spro frog man, but while out today I picked up some snag proof frogs. I must say the snag proof frogs have alot softer body, but the reason I am trying the new brand is because all my Spro frogs have been taking on water even after only a months use. I dont like when my frogs dive.... Has anyone tried/compared different brands of frogs and found a favorite? maybe some tips to prevent my frogs from taking on water...
  12. lol genius. what always worked for me was that when the fishing jumped i'd make sure he took the frog, and reel slowly and once i am positive he has it i as said above "Slam back and try to cross his eyes"
  13. they dont really have an all purpose rod for spinning tho. they have more specialty rods for bait casting
  14. i probly will and i am gonna wait to see if there is a sale. gonna put it with my pflueger presidential.
  15. when ever i got out fishing i tend to time it to the lunar times but when its nice and sunny out i got out all day.
  16. i can go to 7' if thats all that is out there to suit my needs. i dont think my car will take a 1piece 7footer lol. EDIT: that dobyns savvy is an excellent looking rod.
  17. I usually just go to bass pro and pick a rod out that i think looks nice and has a decent flex to it. I never paid attention to if it was a jiggin rod or a finesse, topwater etc.. I am looking at some St. Croix rods and noticed the mojo bass rods, and each one i look at for spinning is different specification for fishing. I would like to get a rod under 6'6" spinning for generally all purpose, jigging, topwater, and soft baits. my range to spend is about $150. anyone got some suggestions? i'd prefer split handle.
  18. i was a little confused when you said it didnt exist and i had looked at it the day before lol. has anyone used this stuff? maybe it would make up for having to put a leader on regular braid
  19. does anyone here go by the lunar calender for fishing?
  20. http://www.basspro.com/Spiderwire-reg-Ultracast-reg-Fluoro-Braid-trade-Fishing-Line-125-Yards/product/10210232/-1755546 fllouro braid mix.
  21. yall ever use the vicious brand? btw EAGEL CLAW mono is better then all those
  22. well, while i was out i picked up some power pro 20# as well as the brand i havent seen a whole lot of Vicious braid and i picked up this brands flouro. i also purchased a nice shiny new baitcaster for the new braid. and have my old BC that has only been fished with twice for the vicious brand. i really wanted to get the braid and such to see what all the hype is with the BC and high # braid. thanks all for your suggestions. i got a buddy on his way to pick up some suffix braid right now.
  23. i dont think i coulda said it any better. i love just fishing in general. its just relaxing, gets me outa the house, and i love being by the water, clear deep water is just beautiful to just gaze down into the depths and watch what ever is down there. i can go out every week and get something new for fishing and not break the bank, and most other bass fishermen are great to hang around and the older guys always have good fishing stories ( but theres always that rotten egg that is just inconsiderate ).
