Here in MN on the upper 'sippi the big smallies bite, even when the water is in the mid-30's. I catch MANY on large Shadraps, husky jerks, and X-raps. The best places are in slower current.
I thought it was a different perspective on BASS and I also don't like where ESPN is taking the BASSMASTER thing. I know they are trying to grow the sport, but it will NEVER be NASCAR.
I personally think FLW captures the "spirit" of what bass tournaments are really about, and not focusing on the showmanship is more what appeals to "some" of us.
Just my 2-cents.
Like someone in a previous reponse said, swimming a jig is very effective. I find that it works the best sometimes over the top of vegetation where you would normally run a buzzbait. You had better hold on to your rod, because they will try to take it from you using it like that!
