  1. I am sorry to hear that. Some of my best memories from childhood was when he brought me out fishing. He introduced me to the sport and now i find it as something i can go out and take my mind off everything. I dont mind buying my dad something nice that he will appreciate. I feel it is well overdue with everything both of my parents have done for me over the years.
  2. Any other thoughts about the shimano symetre 1000FJ? Reviews are very high on this reel.
  3. Alright i narrowed it down to the avid, mojo bass, and legend xtreme. I am still open to suggestions and i am probably going to purchase a rod and reel for myself too while iam out. He is using a spinning reel so if you guys have any suggestions out of those series iam open to listen. I will probably follow him up with the same rod but i need some suggestions on the reel, no baitcasting here.
  4. I ask him if he had ever looked at any other rods in the time being and st croix was the first thing he mentioned.
  5. His rod was a Berkley Technique series. I guess i would spend 150-200 just because he is my dad, maybe more.
  6. Hi guys, I was out last night on the lake and landed a 7 pounder and snapped my dads prized rod at the same time.... I feel bad about it, he has been using this rod for 10+ years. It is a panfish rod he used for the thrill of bringing in the fish. I feel obligated to buy him a new one and need some opinions on a rod since i have never purchased one before. We usually fish for bass only in northern ohio, mainly carolina rigged worms, spinners, and occasional top water jig. Can anybody give me a couple suggestion for a new rod to buy him that meets some of that criteria, remember he has used a panfish rod all these years for being able to really feel the fish fight. Thanks, Justin
