What Grade Of Graphite Are These Rods?
That's good to know that Im ratings dont really matter to one aspect. I have read reviews that some folks break these rods among others on the first, or third cast. I really dont see how. I have a medium and muscled a small bass that wrapped around a log, took some patience, but I finally got him free, and I was really working that rod and had no issues. Glad to know I got a decent rod.

What Grade Of Graphite Are These Rods?
The field and stream tec spec rods from Dick's Sporting Goods. I have searched all over the internet and either there is no info or it seems to be hidden from my view. I replaced a 7'6"basspro graphite series rod with this one http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3986142&cp=4406646.4413993.4414792.4414795 a field and stream tec spec 7' medium xtra fast casting rod. I am amazed at the difference in build quality and the overall aspects of the rod. Does anyone have any clue as to what kind of graphite this rod is? im6? im7? higher? half graphite mixed with something else? It seems f&s and Dick's are trying to keep it a secret. Darn good rods to not be boasting about them. It is slightly heavier than a st croix mojo of the same size, I compared the two, and they felt identical(in the store that is). Any info on them anyone? Thanks for the help. Murph

Feeling Disconnected From My Setup...
Thank you for the help, I went to dick's sporting goods and I saw a rod that jumped out at me looks good and feels good. A field and stream tec spec "plastics" 7ft medium with extra fast tip rod. I think a portion of the rod is graphite near the handle not sure about the rest, but the build quality is superb and I love the split grip. It handles well but the wind was way too high this morning to get a real good feel for it. Any body have any info on the other materiel used to make this rod? Thanks murph

Bass Won't Take My Jig
I recommend using a little bit heavier jig and retrieve it very slowly and when you feel a little resistance pull the rod back to see if its a fish or structure on the bottom. If it feels weird set the hook. I did this and after about ten casts I got used to what the bottom feels like and hooked 10 bass over 2#. Be very slow in your retrieve that is key to learning. Once you get the hang of it, you can change it up. I would say about 8 of those ten bass I didn't feel bite I just set the hook when it felt weird and then the line started running. Bring a few extra jigs with you, cause you'll probably get excited and set the hook on a few log lunkers. Best advice I can give from personal experience. Good luck

First Baitcasting Reel
I switched from spinning and got a pro qualifier left hand retrieve, it was very easy to learn on, though I highly recommend using braid. If you have a few extra bucks get the bps carbon lite, I hear that it is even better than some very high dollar reels.

Feeling Disconnected From My Setup...
Hello all, I have been fishing off and on for years and just recently started using a baitcaster and I love it. I am using a pro qualifier left hand retrieve with a bass pro graphite series trigger rod, the MH 7'6" with a telescopic handle to be exact(GS76MHT-T). I have the same series rod on a spinning setup in medium 7' and I like the rod, needless to say it is not the best rod, but better than anything I have ever had. The problem I am having is that I can use a jig(1/2,3/4 oz) on the mh rod with a baitcaster and feel just about everything but not quite as much as with the medium spinning setup, but with a t-rigged worm using a 5/16oz weight I feel absolutely nothing, almost like it is not enough weight, but the 5/16 is already way too heavy and causes the worm to fall very fast, I use 3/16 or 1/4 oz on my spinning setup. I am running 50lbs power pro(12# dia.) on the bc. Is the rod the problem in this setup? Should I go back to a medium solid one piece without the telescopic handle, say 6'6" or 7'? maybe a different rod that doesn't cost much more? I fish from banks mostly, unless someone invites me for a ride on a boat. I bought the MH instead of medium this time because I was wanting to start flipping into the sticks around the bank and have been doing so with the jigs, but the t-rig is just making me feel so disconnected. Any ideas? Thanks very much for your help. Murphy
