  1. then maybe i will just do the front or something for a casting deck. we shall see.
  2. actually guys, i am hopefully going to get back my dads old boat he sold to his friend 15 years ago. just a 13ft v hull with front deck. not too sure the deck is in too good of shape anymore. project time. but this is pretty cool that i am getting the boat i grew up on as my own ya know? getting it for 100 bucks since the guy never uses it. i would need to get a trailer for it and motors, etc etc. but the sentimental value is there and worth the effort IMHO.
  3. what would happen if i used truck grease, like out of a can
  4. i like how equipment is all tucked away under the deck and the area is nice and clear to move around but want to make sure this will not impact anything else.. some may think this is a little bit of a dumb question but i have been out of the fishing loop for over 15 years and seeing a lot of cool ideas now.
  5. i will put that on the hot seat then. been using the other one. mainly because i like the look a little better but honestly havent casted it since i just cleaned and lubed it. speaking of lubing... what do you suggest?
  6. im pretty sure they are both 5.3.1 and 2 ball bearings.
  7. Hopefully going to be getting my dads old 13ft V Hull i grew up on. I just came across a website that shows before and after pics of making a complete deck on a similar boat. curious what the pros and cons are. stability of boat, walking around, weight, rot, etc etc. here is a general idea from this to this here is a crappy pic i just found of my dads old boat. this was taken the day i got home from the Army
  8. should i use one over the other for lures or worms?
  9. i have had these for a very long time, maybe 20 years. i did some research and they are mainly used for Walley or similar. i have always used them for Bass fishing. my question is, what are the pros and cons on using these? Medium action rods. i like Baitcasters more so than the others but not too sure i am using the right equipment. never really failed me before but i always like to learn a little more of what i am using. i just started up fishing again after a long time and i know things have changed a lot. updated. etc. here is a pic of the 6000
  10. what i lier this guy is. i get there and the motor doesnt work, broken hinges, cracks in the boat, no top to livewell or battery compartment. trailer has flat tires. also he says it has been sitting the this boat yard i went to (a friend of him owns it) for 2 months and the guy said it has been there for over 9 or 10 months. i pretty much just walked away. 200 bucks or not, i want no part of this deal. so i called my dad and was just chatting with him about what happened and mentioned that he still talks to the guy that he sold our boat to. this boat was the boat i pretty much learned how to fish in and drive, etc etc. i asked dad to call the guy and see what he wanted for it. maybe you guys still have it, but it would be nice to get this boat and keep it forever and be able to say that this was my dads boat and i learned to fish in it.. its a 13ft v hull john boat. very wide and we painted it cammo pretty nice. more of a green look than cammo with a tan bottom. anyways, id love to see how it looks now, 18 years later. would be a nice feeling to restore it and use it ya know? this would be ok to put a 15 or 20hp motor and foot control on with decks, etc etc. think its big enough to tool around at the Lox with?????
  11. i have not. they are both no where near eachother an an hour away from my house. i just like this one better for the design and the fact it has a foot control motor.
  12. thats what im saying. those gators are fearless. i dont know first hand but i have been around for a while and heard the stories. oh and i watch Swamp People too
  13. thanks for the tip. ill stay away from there then. maybe i will just stick to my small ponds until the big boat comes later.
  14. interested in this as well. i live 441/glades in boca. im thinking of heading out to hillsboro, west from 441 out to Lox and hope to find some fishies out there this weekend. i would be more interested in some of these smaller communities too. anything in the local area to me. i also plan on scouting out some of these little lakes and checking for signs.
  15. picking up a 10ft canal/pond boat tonight and hope to get out to Lox asap. only seeing it on google maps, can anyone send me a map or something with some nice spots? which way to go? how much beer to bring? oh and i like the Hillsboro west from 441 location. close to my house and more conviniant (if this is doable).
  16. found this for about the same price. i like this one MUCH better.. thoughts?
  17. just sent you a PM about some spots in the local area.
  18. going to do as suggested for sure. i just wasn't sure if i even needed to register and all that since the boat is so small...
  19. Will I need to register this boat in the state of Florida? Is there a minimum length of say 10ft or something?
  20. General question I know but there are a lot of small lakes around here surrounded by houses. I once saw a small john boat in one near here but there is no ramp or anything. I am thinking of just dropping a boat in there and hoping I don't get into trouble. Think I am ok? Also will I need a fishing license? Probably going to get one to be safe anyways but just curious for friends to might join me.
  21. Krylon Fusion is an ABS plastic paint. Use it for the trim on my truck and last forever. I honestly think with me running and putting feet on there it will come off. I am curious if there is a sticker material I could wrap on it. The ugly tan has to go. Will I be able to add some rod holders for trolling? I'm thinking not because there will be no way for me to put a nut on the bolt. Unless I got long bolts maybe. Anyways, I talked the guy down to 180 and a used iPhone 3G from work. Picking it up tomorrow. I will post more pics once it is here.
  22. One more thing... Can I paint this type of material?
  23. Room for a stripper pole? Hahah. Thanks for the help. Just found a John boat 12ft for same price without the motor. That strangely might be too big for the idea I am going with. I again thank you for the help. Let's see what happens.
  24. Thanks guys. So I won't have a problem with weight? I'm only 180 but my friend is 225 plus beer and rods ya know? That's the only thing I am worried about. I don't want to be nervous about tipping over. Plus, a battery and telling motor, for this price, I am pretty excited about it.
