  1. Hi guys, thanks for the replies. The Lew's Laser MG1 sounds nice and also the Lew's Speed Stick at Walmart sounds nice especially for the price. I will have to see if I can find any of these locally. I used to have several of the older Berkley Lighting Rods, IM6 rods with the foam handles. I will look at the new ones. I will head into Bass Pro soon as well.
  2. Hi All, I'm looking for some Spinning rod recommendations under $100, preferably closer to the $50 price point. I've been using bait casters since I was a kid, but have always had 1 spinning rod, but rarely used it. Currently I have a 2 piece Shakespeare from Walmart. I would like to replace that with something that I could use for some light/fineness bass fishing and also crappie. Will be heading to Arkansas with my son for his boy scout camp this year, and thought it would be good to have a better spinning rod. I'm thinking something in between 6-7' probably, ML power, a fast action, and 1 piece design. Thanks
  3. Chitura, Thanks for this info. Looked Google Earth, It appears that the entrance might be gated. I will check it though while I'm down there. Mike
  4. Geo G, Thanks for the reply. As I mentioned, I have been to Turnkey lake a couple years ago. It was good, however I 'm looking for something else. I plan on hitting Lake Underhill, after reading some of the other threads. Looking for some suggestions that I could maybe hit up for a few casts before and after the trade show each day, like any canals or small ponds that might have easy access around the convention center or off W Iro Bronson or something in between that I could hit on my drive to and from the show. Thanks Mike
  5. I'm going to be in the Orlando area for the Infocomm trade show June 12-16, we decided to turn this into a little bit of a family vacation. My son and I would love to get some fishing in while down there. I read several other posts about different places to fish, and I plan on going to Lake Underhill for sure. A few years ago we did the boat rental at Turkey Lake and that was pretty cool, so we might try that again. Could anyone recommend any of the other lakes to try or even some of the canals, or ponds, that I might be able to hit up either before or after the trade show each day. The show is at the Orange County Convention Center and we are staying off of Poinciana Blvd in Kissimmee. Will only be doing bank fishing, unless we do the Turkey Lake rental again. A lake or pond with a park/playground would also be great. Thanks Mike
  6. Do any of you have any recommendations for colors for soft plastics and crank baits, both for bass and panfish? Planning on sending some red shad, & June bug colored worms, some white flukes, and some watermelon red & June bug craw baits. Have an assortment of tubes & grubs with jig heads for panfish. Most of those are reds, blacks, & chartreuse. Am I missing anything?
  7. Hey guys, my son will be heading out to scout camp this weekend. I was wondering if any of you guys have ever fished Eugene D Nims Lake, near Knob Lick, MO. He is planning on doing as much fishing as he can, and wants to take tackle for bass, crappie, blue gill, you name it. We don't get to fish much in Missouri, and I know a lot of the lakes in MO are considerably clearer than in IL. If I could get some suggestions on baits to send along with him, that would be great. Thanks Mike
  8. My dad always told me a minimum of 4. 1 for you and a back up in case you loose it, and 1 for your buddy/partner and a back up for them.
  9. check out the Stanley Sidewinder http://www.fishstanley.com/wkg_plastics_sidewd.html
  10. I used to use Storm Thin-Fins for when we came across schooling bass chasing shad. normally in Chrome w/ Blue back.
  11. I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on phone apps for tracking fish logs. I'm interested in apps for Android. Thanks Mike
  12. Check out this back pack at BPS. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shopsreg;-Extremereg;-Qualifier-360-Backpacks/product/10204414/87305?cmCat=CROSSSELL_THUMBNAIL can be set up as 1 big bag or seperated into 2 smaller bags.
  13. Thanks for the tips. We went out Sunday, July 8th. Of the 4 boats that were rented, we were the only ones to catch any fish, they weren't bid by any means, but it was nice to catch fish when noone else did. I didn't get any action on the Top water frogs, or on rattle traps. The only thing I cought fish on was texas rigged Yum ribbon tails in red shad. one thing about all the fish I caught, I didn't feel any of them hit the worm, it just felt heavy when I started moving the it.
  14. Thanks Nick. Do you have any recomendations on lures for there? I figured I'd bring some soft plastics, Frogs, Spinnerbaits, Traps.
  15. Taking the family down to Orlando to visit my wifes brother. I'm wanting to take our son (7 yrs old) out fishing while down there and was thinking about going to Turkey Lake for their $25 boat rental. Is this a good place to go, or do you guys suggest somewhere else? I would like to get into some nice bass, our son hasn't really fished for anything besides bluegill. Thanks
