Orlando Area - June 12-16

Featured Replies

I'm going to be in the Orlando area for the Infocomm trade show June 12-16, we decided to turn this into a little bit of a family vacation.  My son and I would love to get some fishing in while down there.  I read several other posts about different places to fish, and I plan on going to Lake Underhill for sure.  A few years ago we did the boat rental at Turkey Lake and that was pretty cool, so we might try that again.

Could anyone recommend any of the other lakes to try or even some of the canals, or ponds, that I might be able to hit up either before or after the trade show each day.  The show is at the Orange County Convention Center and we are staying off of Poinciana Blvd in Kissimmee.  Will only be doing bank fishing, unless we do the Turkey Lake rental again.  A lake or pond with a park/playground would also be great.

Thanks

Turkey lake is right next to Universal studios, they have a great boat rental deal.  You have to call ahead and rent a boat.  I think its 25 dollar for the rental.  Lots of info on this site about it.  Good luck

Geo G,

Thanks for the reply.  As I mentioned, I have been to Turnkey lake a couple years ago.  It was good, however I 'm looking for something else.  I plan on hitting Lake Underhill, after reading some of the other threads.  Looking for some suggestions that I could maybe hit up for a few casts before and after the trade show each day, like any canals or small ponds that might have easy access around the convention center or off W Iro Bronson or something in between that I could hit on my drive to and from the show.

Thanks

Mike

Google map Marriott's Cypress Harbor Villas just south of the convention center.  I've been told it is good, but have not fished there yet.  I would try entering on the south side, then walk to the lakes.

Chitura,

Thanks for this info.  Looked Google Earth, It appears that the entrance might be gated.  I will check it though while I'm down there.

The golf course seems to be out of business, I would think about parking near the golf course entrance.

I was in Orlando late last year and carried a rod with me.  If you drive behind Rocco's Taco there are several good access points to Little Sand Lake.  I caught several nice bass there.

Cast into any pond in Orlando and chances are youll catch a bass, I've done it. Some golf course ponds hold GREAT fish
