  1. I just checked our group and I am in the TOP TEN!!! Probably for the last time this season. I guess it pays to register early. Good Luck Everyone.
  2. One PM during my lunch break with two colleagues right next to me. 7-4 on my profile picture.
  3. Move to South Florida, I am still in shorts and a T-Shirt here.
  4. When the bite is really slow or just completely non-existent, I practice my casting accuracy by targeting whatever happens to be there. Floating garbage, turtles and ducks are some of my favorites and can be very satisfying.
  5. My best advise to the guys who make 5 casts and move is to watch the elites live coverage. At the last tournament Hackney would go hours in between bites but believed in what he was doing and won by a nice margin. The pros do not get bites every other cast and those guys can but lures in spots that John Q Public can't even imagine.
  6. My wife occasionally also reads this forum, so I absolutely NEVER lie about when and how much I fish.
  7. An absolute necessity for sankeheads. They are nearly impossible to catch on mono-filament.
  8. Great looking fish, was that your PB?
  9. It wasn't a monster but these things hit like a truck and don't stop fighting.
  10. I totally agree. I have been skunked, sunburned, lost, had tackle lost or destroyed and have even sunk a boat, but have NEVER had a bad day fishing.
  11. I have been looking at Okeeheelee Park in Greenacres, FL for years during my daily commute but had never stopped to fish. Yesterday I decided was the day, picked a random bank and started casting. I was rewarded with this little guy just over a pound. I love going to water I don't know and catching fish.
  12. I always carry an accurate scale. The fish in my picture weighed 4 lb 6 oz (my biggest this year). I was certain it was 5+ until I weighed it. Large mouth Bass are truly a scientific anomaly, they are the only thing in nature that weighs more in the water than they do in air.
  13. I am just busting your stones. That picture doesn't do that fish justice. I am 5' 10", would you say this fish is bigger or smaller than yours?
  14. Look closely at that lure. Have you seen what the Miami Dolphin have been doing the last few years? Definitely injured if not dead or dying.
  15. What could look more dead, injured or dying than this? I have never seen, caught or fished for cats in this water but have seen plenty of gar and snake heads. This is possible.
  16. If that fish is five pounds, you must be 9 ft tall....lol. Congrats on a nice fish!
  17. I had an interesting experience yesterday. During my lunch hour a buddy and I drove up to a small pond we fish frequently. There are many dozens of small birds dive bombing for minnows. We both figure this is a good sign. Find the food, find the bass. We also see frequent surface strikes from fish and minnows scattering across the surface trying to avoid fish. It was truly a bad day to be a minnow, they were getting hammered from above and below. All of this activity is within casting distance from the bank so we are thinking that today we are going to slay them. That was not the case. We threw everything we had at those fish for over an hour and only managed to land one dink each. My question is what happened? Was there so much food in the water that our lures were not interesting? Did all of the diving bombing birds make the bass more cautious that usual? This pond has always produced good numbers of small bass and a few 3+ pounds. Air Temp - 84°F Pressure - 29.92 Moon - Waning Cresent Sky - Blue and Sunny Time - Noon - 1PM Water Temp - No idea, managed to fish an hour without falling in
  18. Congrats on the first bass of 2018. I can't imagine having to wait until May for the first one. I caught my first bass of 2018 on January 1st.
  19. I have found bullseye snakeheads in nearly every waterway I have fished around Deerfield Beach. Look for very still water and they will be there. You should load up with braid because they will cut Mono nearly every time unless you get very lucky. Do not throw any lures you are emotionally attached too, these fish are wrecking balls for artificials.
  20. This is very different from what I have been doing. I am strictly bank bound until I get my boat seaworthy and have found that the wind driven bank is usually stirred up and dirty. Plus having the wind in your face greatly limits the casting range. I target banks with the wind at my back so that I find cleaner water and have better casting options. I also fish many featureless, man-made ponds and will try the wind driven banks.
  21. Is this him? He may have moved to South Florida like everyone else in the country.
  22. Great photo!! The canal next to FL700 looks very similar to that this time of year.
