Lightning while fishing?
This thread reminds me of a quote from the TV show Wicked Tuna. While fishing through a nasty storm the captain of the Hard Merchandise told his crew, "Don't worry, lightening is only dangerous if you're on a boat"

Most Annoying Things while Fishing
Jet Skis have to be at the top of my list. They are loud and ALWAYS have to get close to see if you are catching anything, which of course you aren't because of all the racket made by the stupid jet ski.

Broward County fisherman?
Bank fishing around Deerfield Beach has been brutal during lunch time this week. I typically catch 2 - 3 bass everyday but this week I have only managed to land one little guy. I hope you are able to find more productive waters than I have. Good Luck

Broward County fisherman?
How do you feel about eating fish caught is "residential" water? I've been in south florida for two years and so far have only eaten ocean caught fish. I have concerns about residential and golf course runoff contaminating the urban water around here.

Broward County fisherman?
What do you do with the snakeheads you catch? I have heard they are good to eat but have not been brave enough to try one yet. Are we still supposed to kill these fish when we land them? - Bruce -

Fishing Shoes
I feel the same about fishing shoes as I do about fishing pants or shirts. There is no such thing since all clothes are fishing clothes. I will fish in whatever I happen to have on.

New To Bass Fishing Setting Hook Question
This thread reminded me of something my grandfather used to tell me about fishing for sheepshead. "You need to set the hook just before he bites" Sounds like you are getting bit right at the boat.

Opinions on fishing a community lake
Forgiveness is much easier to get than permission. Fish like you own the place. Good Luck!

When your buddy is having a rough day and you're not...
I have done this. Not recommended.

Heading to Miami tomorrow for the day, have a couple hours to kill and would love to catch a Peacock bass
Good Luck, I work 30 miles north of Miami (Deerfield Beach), fish nearly every day and still have not caught a peacock bass. Let us know if you find any.

Bass fishing firsts this year
I have only been bass fishing for 4 years and also am still experiencing many firsts. Like you 2017 is the first year I have kept a fishing log to record weather conditions (temperature, wind speed and direction, barometric pressure and moon phase) and the number a size of the bass caught (194 to date). This year saw my first 7+ pound bass (the one in my profile picture), first bass on a weightless Senko and the first bass not hooked in the mouth (I managed to get a hook in the top of his head). Other firsts I hope to see this year are my first double digit bass and catching a fish out of my first bass boat. I have been given a 1984 Bayliner Trophy 1710 which needs a lot of restoration before it will ready for the water.

Orlando Area - June 12-16
I was in Orlando late last year and carried a rod with me. If you drive behind Rocco's Taco there are several good access points to Little Sand Lake. I caught several nice bass there.

Why am I only catching Dinks in South Florida
We finally got a break in the rain and I was able to fish for an hour during lunch today. I was rewarded with a really fat 2-11 large mouth. Apparently the secret to catching bigger fish in South Florida during the summer is whine about catching little guys on a public forum. Since starting this thread I have landed 5 fish between 2 - 4 pounds. Many thanks to everyone who contributed.

Fantasy Fishing
It looks like I choose the wrong tournament to jump on the Crochet band wagon. I catch more fish on my lunch break than he did this week.

Why am I only catching Dinks in South Florida
Wurming, I enjoy catching fish both large and small. The original observation was that using the same tackle and techniques in the same water produced a much higher percentage of big fish in the first quarter than they do now. Which sparked the questions: Where do the bigger fish in South Florida go when the temperatures start rising? Do you have to fish differently to catch them? Have other anglers seen the same thing?

Why am I only catching Dinks in South Florida
I have caught 6 or 7 snakeheads this year all in the Deerfield Beach area. The one pictured on this thread was the largest. I always kill the ones I land, but I see them all the time.

Why am I only catching Dinks in South Florida
Basshunter, I agree completely. I threw a 6" Senko for an hour today in a lake where I normal catch a bass every 15 minutes and did not get a bite. I will go back to a 4" Senko tomorrow and see what happens.

Why am I only catching Dinks in South Florida
Thanks to everyone for the comments. Saturday evening I finally broke my little bass streak and landed a nice 3 pounder. I restrung my favorite reel with 17 lb mono and rigged it weightless. I am going to throw nothing but big Senkos this week and see what happens.

Why am I only catching Dinks in South Florida
Well I broke my little fish streak today by landing a 2 1/2 and a 3 1/2 pound snakehead. Not exactly what I wanted but it was nice to have something pull drag again. Both on a 4" Senko.
