  1. I just wanted to get some peoples insight on what they found out this last fall. Give me the details of what pattern produced your most consistance fish and the largest stringer of fish. All the details : air temp, water temp, lure used, and the way you fished it. Thankx Scott Solid hook sets
  2. I like to also rig it carolina style with 2.5 to 3 foot leader. With the longer leader this allows the worm to fall on slack line in deeper water. Seems to be effective in deeper water. Scott
  3. I just bought a humminbird 787c2 that is GPS capable and was wondering which chips offer the best details for them. I fish out west. Any suggestions would be apreciated. Thanks
  4. Dave Woo has a really good smallie book out. I can't remember the name of it though. You should try to look it up its worth the time. Scott
  5. I agree with the others. Yes they do change colors. One thing that is cool is how fast the can actually change colors. Scott
  6. I am going to a new body of water this weekend. I have a few bits of info on the lake. The lake has several types of different types of stucture. There is wood, weed flats, rocky points deep spots and slues. The water temp is 61. The clarity is about 1foot. There is both large and smallmouth in this lake too. How would you guys go about fishing this lake. If you have any more questions ask I may know the answer. What would you start throughing, and where. By the way the temp should be sunny and in low 80's. Thanks Scott
  7. The thing about I pattern is when you can find it it will help you eliminate unproductive lures and spots on the lake. Instead of just going down the bank and fishing every inch of an area for miles. When you find I pattern you can take those hours of fishing and put yourself in the spots that are holding more fish at the time and will be able to use the right lure. Thats why you hear so much about it. It makes your time on the water more productive. Good luck and talk to you later.
  8. I am from Oregon and I know here that the ticket can be as much as $300. I think its good that its that much. I think it doesn't matter if you fish once or twice you should buy a license. Scott
  9. It looks like a leech pattern I fish. I fish it onn a drop shot and do well with it. Good luck with them Scott
  10. I live in oregon and I have cable. I have watched it this year on the outdoor channel. I think its a great show. Good luck finding it. Scott
  11. thats a good idea ball couch
  12. I read an article a while ago and it said that smallies will spawn around 55 degrees. I believe that there is a section on this website that adress this topic. Good luck Scott
  13. theres an article in In-Fisherman about 2 issues ago. It address this topic specificly. You may want to read it. There is to much for me to cover in such a sort period. Basicly darker water has particles in it and that helps the water warm up quicker. Read the article though you will get a lot out of it. Scott
  14. I don't know the exact speed but I watched a special with KV and he said that even with his 7.1:1 reel he couldn't reel fast enough to out run a fish when they really wanted a bait. scott
  15. I agree with what papa smurf but there is one thing that I will add to that. This past weekend I was using a sertain technique and it wasn't working well so I went away from it tried some others caught some fish but later in the day I just knew that this pattern had worked well in the past so I went back to it and it excelled. We ended up getting 3rd. So I would say don't for get if you change up don't be afraid of going back to something even if you didn't do well early if you know that pattern is correct for that time of year. Good luck Scott
  16. Well it looks like a good start right out of the blocks. I was hoping for a 4.5 lb largemouth. My first tourney out this year I ended up with one that tiped the scales at a hair over 5 lbs it was 5.03 to be percise. It also was the large bass for the tourney too. Now all I have left is that 6 lber for a smallie. Good luck to all Scott
  17. How do you guys go about finding a patern when you first get on a lake? Thanks Scott
  18. That is a great bass I just have one problem with it. The what the guy is holding the bass for the pic is really bad on the fish. He needs to suport it's back by putting his hand under the back if he doesn't it could injure the fish. And no I'm not a tree hugger either. I just think catch and release is a good way to go with the majority of fish cauth and the only way to go with hens full of eggs. With that in mind I also think that we should put them back with as little impack on them as possible. Scott
  19. I love those smallies. They are unbelievable fighter. They don't know what die means. They just don't stop.
  20. I have one for the brains of this forum. OK here I go. The resivior I fish is down 43 feet. It was 56 feet down a week and half ago. So its on the rise up. The res is dirty right now. The clarity is 2 feet at the lower end and 6in or less at the upper end. At the upper end there is more flats to fish and the lower is more steeper banks. The res is a deep one there are places over 200 ft deep. I fished there this last weekend I ended up catching 9.5# in 5 fish. (These are smallies) The weather is suppose to be bad this week The rain is and 1in plus for today and tomorrow. Then no rain and temps in the high 60's the saturday and sunday the temps are suppose to drop to the high 50's. the water temp is 46 on the lower end on the res and 47 on the upper right now. The res also will be up another 6 ft by saturday. I think this is all the info that is needed. If you need more ask and I can let you know if I know. My question is do you think that the fish will be in the same spot this coming weekend or will they have moved? Will they be on the same patern or a different one? The reason I ask is I have a tourney this weekend and was kinda wanting help ;D
  21. In my area they us sage brush too. They don't hold a whole bunch of bass but they do hold a ton of crappie. Scott
  22. I like to see what you guys have to say about all of these mags. but I'm primaraly a smallie fisherman. Is there any good mags for smallies except in-fisherman. Thanks scott
  23. I have a 20' skeeter and it comes in around 2500lbs so I'm looking for something more than I have right now. I have a 1997 GMC w/305 and it just isn't the best but right now its getting the job done.
  24. Hey there everyone I was just wondering what type of truck you use to tow your boat. Gas Diesel? I'm looking into a diesel. I fish tournies and have 10 this year that I'm going to fish in. The closest one is over 300 miles round trip. So i'm leaning toward a diesel. For those of you that have a diesel what type is it. Cummings, duromax, or the ford? Also what type of gas mileage do you get? What type of boat do you guys tow also is it heavy or a lighter one. Thanks for your help Scott
  25. Rolo I'm sorry for your bad experience with humminbird. I have owned one it was a 400TX I should say that i own, because I still have it. This unit was purchased about 6 years ago and I have had no problems with it. I just want one with a GPS and like the looks of the 787c2. And your different oppinions. Scott
