  1. I had a 2001 640LX with a 75 HP motor on the back. I have had around 650 lbs. of people in the boat and it didn't seem terrible getting on plane. I'm not sure how a 50 HP would do, but the right prop and set up would be very important. Btw the max HP on my boat was 90 HP.
  2. I am trying to pick one of these for my next spinning reel. I am looking for pros and cons of both. Thanks
  3. 8 casting and 4 spinning. All get used throughout the season. 1 extra casting and 1 extra spinning rod with no reel. Around 5 older spinning rods that get used occasionally at a pond. I plan on adding at least 2 more casting and 1 more spinning combo in the off season.
  4. The way I always look at it when someone is fishing a spot I fish is that they can't catch my fish, and I keep telling myself that and try not to let it get to me.
  5. I think you are much better off fishing alone than with someone inexperienced, fishing with another experienced fisherman on the other hand could have its advantages. I have done both, it is nice to have someone else putting fish in the boat. When I fished alone though I felt more focused and more productive. One team tournament I fished this year alone, I came in 6th out of 40 boats and another guy that was fishing alone did better than me. My point though, definitely do it, you always have a chance and I don't feel your chance is much less if any less to win.
  6. I have 3 smoke spinning reels, they are all great. I haven't had any problems with them and I have had one for over 2 years.
  7. I have 2 smoke 25's and a 30. I like all 3 of them. I have had one for over 2 years and use it frequently, it has held up fine. The 40 isn't as light as the 25 and 30, but it will be a good reel.
  8. Thanks for the reply, I was kind leaning towards the kistler.
  9. I can't decide which rod I want. I am trying to decide between the Kistler Helium 3, St. Croix LTB or Dobyns Champion in ML power. I currently have 2 ML/XF St. Croix rage rods and I am wanting something lighter and more sensitive. Can anyone compare any of these rods to the rage rods. I will be using this rod for 1/8 oz. tube jigs and drop shot. Thanks
  10. I have the 7' MH/F casting and 7' M spinning, they are great for $100. If I could find them for that price I would get another. They are very light and pretty sensitive.
  11. I was fishing a tournament and caught a 2.5 lb. smallmouth and it was hooked in the gills and blood ran down the length of the fish and got all over my boat. I poured half of a can of mellow yellow into it's mouth and put it in the livewell. I caught that fish around 8 A.M. and it was alive when we released it at 4 P.M. after weigh ins. Whether it is still alive or not, I don't know but it seemed healthy when it was released.
  12. I have a duckett ghost 7' medium crankin' rod and i like it a lot. I have thrown 10-12 ft. cranks on it and it handled it well and didn't work on my wrists bad at all.
  13. I have a 16 foot fiber glass bass boat and it has a 43 lb. thrust trolling motor. I was thinking about putting a 55 lb. thrust trolling motor on it. Will I notice the difference? Also I have one trolling motor battery on board and it will not last a whole day. Will I be better off to add another battery and wire them together or get a better battery, like an optima? Thanks
  14. I have 3 smoke spinning reels and they are great.
