Morning, afternoon, dusk, etc? Just wondering, no need to tell your secret rigs lol

My friends buddy caught a 10.4 pounder in a golf course retention pond up in East Lake/Oldsmar.

The title says it all

All he's asking is what do you guys use, he's just curious, I'm not a big time angler but I stick with lures, I'd rig my rods with a 10 inch worm for the big bass that have been growing all summer, another with some horny toads if you know how to use them (it seems to pull out the bigger bass from under the lily pads or deep brushes), another with a creature bait. It may not look like anything natural but I always get bass from 2-5 lb bass anytime of day and the other 2 with just top waters. I still call myself a rookie basser but what I'm using is catching bass and I'm excited to try new stuff for this October weather.

If alligators are visible on top of the water does that mean that fish, manely bass, won't be by it because of fear of getting eaten?
