  1. That might not be the glasses, that might be experience/training. I've been fishing with people who don't have polarized glasses. When I hand them mine and try to point something out on the bottom, they just can't seem to see it sometimes. I think you train your eyes to a point to see better into the water. Same thing with picking out deer in the field. I have a keen eye for spotting deer where some people just have a really hard time doing that. That could be true I never thought of it like that.
  2. I have a pair of Oakley's that I did spend a fair amount on ($159). I have had multiple pairs of cheapos and wanted a good pair. I have had my Oakleys for 2 years now and I couldn't be happier. They are much harder to scratch. The cheap lenses will scratch easy and the polarized coating will wear off. A pair of quality glasses have more protection on the lenses and you can tell. My next pair will probably be about the same price as these. I routinely see things in the water with mine that my friends don't. Fishing in Kansas you don't get much chance to sight fishing in. I chose polarized in order to see the stumps and brush under the surface that can't be seen due to the glare. Lens color plays a large part in being able to see under the surface. Different amounts of light require different shades to get the maximum effect out of polarized glasses. What really matters though is are you happy. If the cheaper glasses work for you then by all means use them. A $100 pair of glasses that you are afraid of losing and are uncomfortable to boot aren't going to do you much good. Get what you are comfortable with and use them. JMO though.
  3. I gotta agree it sounds like you would be relieving someone else of their headache.
  4. As far as the line twist with Yo-Zuri I have been using it for a couple years and it is stiff enough (due to the flouro i guess) that it doesn't twist too badly especially in the higher weight ratings. It will twist though but if you pay attention you won't have a problem. Where I have the twist problems I am usually using a smaller diameter "soft" line. IMO
  5. I too talked to Mike at Bass U and as much as I hate to say it I came away a huge fan. One of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Sure he does some things that get under peoples skin but it won't bother me as much anymore. I kind of wonder if they aren't fixing tapes to make him look worse than he is. He took time to bring kids on stage that he talked to while signing autographs during his seminars and made them a part of it. People that say he is a bad influence on kids should lighten up. A young kid is going to be alot more interested in fishing after listening to Ike than some of the other good ole boys on tour, and isn't getting them into fishing what is really important anyways.
  6. Yeah haha. Where is Brian "THE WASH OUT" Bosworth at on your post? Surely he could play tag along with the fishing team like he did with the Football team a couple years ago. But what the he!! is Kansas A&M. I will let it go though, being a sooner fan has a tendency to enlarge one's head and thus displace any common sense they once had. Just kidding, no harm meant just got a little fired up being as I am a current "Kansas A&M" student. LOL I am president of the K-State fishing team and we would love to see OU get a team set up. Would add a little bit to the rivalry since our football team has been lacking lately LOL.
  7. I met Denny at a BASS Univ last year and it was a totally opposite experience than what you had basser89. They had to force him to leave the front of the class. BEST of all he marked a few spots on a map of Lake of the Ozarks for a guy who had a tournament coming up. Classy act in my book.

Not trying to sound stupid here but can you see the fish or only the line moving. I know that here in Kansas the baby b-hog is deadly in ponds but can also look pretty tempting to the bluegill and panfish. You can get hits from these that feel pretty huge at times and they sure take the bait and run like you described. Again from your post I wasn't sure of the water clarity and if you can actually see the bass in the water then disregard my post. Just an idea.
