Had on a big ???? today.....
I'd say carp also.....I've seen one caught on a popper, I've caught one on a jig so anything is possible. Like already mentioned, it also could have been foul hooked.

SW Pennsylvania Thread
I fished Wilhelm yesterday.....My first fish of the morning was a 6.5 lb largie.....caught several more in the 3 lb range. The fish are DEFINATELY post spawn right now. All the fish I caught had tails that looked beat up and battered. Wilhelm is a fickle lake. Once you learn it you'll really like it. It has lots of big bass, maybe the biggest in this half of the state. I've seen fish up to and over 8 lbs come out of it. Fergies bait shop (which is just down the road) has a pic of a bass that says it's 10.3 lbs and came out of the lake. Other than Presque Isle and Lake Erie, Wilhelm is probably my favorite lake. My one piece of advice for Wilhelm: Get off the bank

Texas Shootout!
Guys, I have seen both the video and pictures more than once in training classes. The 2 are not related. The car in the pics is not the same as the one on the video, two different cars from 2 different shootings. Somehow they got linked together on the internet. In either case both officers were blessed........

Texas Shootout!
The Police car in the pics is NOT the same car in the video. The car in the video has a black push bar/bumper. The one in the pics does not.

Oil Prices Plunge
Man, how true that is........I really have cut back due to gas prices. For me to hook onto my ProCraft, drive 60 miles to Lake Erie, and fish for the day I drop close to $100. I just can't justify doing that....I used to go to Erie once or twice a week >

buzzbaits?
Some of my biggest river smallies have come on buzzbaits! My favorites are 1/8 and 1/4 oz Cavitrons.

Lake Erie Smallmouth Opportunity
If you are going to be there really soon, find a Lake Erie tributary in that area. Most of the tribs get spring runs of smallies looking to spawn. Tribs in and around Erie PA have smallies in them now so I would imagine that some may still be around in Ohio.

Minn Kota Edge 40# Troller
Operation is simple. Put your foot on the pedal and push down w/ your toes to turn one way, pressure with your heel brings it back. The round button on the foot pedal activates the prop. Practice makes perfect and you'll get the hang of it in no time. Speed setting is on a knob on the pedals right side. 5 is fastest setting.

Pens are gonna have to dig deep, really deep, to even the series. Wings are looking tough!

Knee injuries?
I tore my medial meniscus a few years ago. 3 weeks after surgery I was back to work and about 100%. Total down time was about 1 1/2 months.

Lights, camera,action
At UPS, we train you to create a "decision point" when encountering a stale green light. You are committed to either slowing or maintaining current speed. It usually favors towards slowing 95% of the time and eventually, you naturally, (through forced habit) don't have to make those decisions anymore, you naturally favor the safer option and find yourself slowing earlier if anything. Sound logic.......... Another trick is to watch the pedestrian crossing lights that face you. If they are white or "Walk" your light will be green for awhile. If they are blinking "Don't walk" in orange your green light is preparing to turn yellow. If they are solid "Don't walk" your light will be changing from yellow to red or it's already red.

Flourocarbon Manageability
My fluke set-up consisits of 10lb Power Pro braid and a 3 foot leader of Gamma Edge floro. Nearly zero strech, casts a mile, no twist issues. Often I remove the leader and fish it straight braid. Usually only use the leader if fish are short striking or something makes me think they are line shy. May I add, I fish flukes fast and near the surface. I suppose that if I fished them slower and deeper than I would probably use a leader all the time.

I also was expecting a closer series, the Pens have kinda opened things up. The Flyers just don't seem to have the fire they had against Montreal. I suspect we'll see the Red Wings and Pens in the finals.

Kelly Jordan's spoon on UMF?
Much thanks to everyone. I'm gonna give Lake Fork a call and order some.

Kelly Jordan's spoon on UMF?
Anyone remember the episode of Ultimate Match Fishing when KJ whaced 'em with a spoon? Anyone remember or know what type of spoon he was using? If not, I'm looking for suggestions on a brand of spoon that will work for fishing structure in summer, mainly casting it out and ripping it off the bottom then allowing it to flutter down.

SW Pennsylvania Thread
Like already mentioned, Erie is a great bet for a not too far trip from the Burgh. I'm a little suprised no one has mentioned Wilhelm. It's probably less than an hour from Pgh and it has some of the areas biggest bucketmouths, cats, muskies, walleyes. You can fish shoreline cover, go deep on breaklines, channel swings, humps, flip to standing timber in the electric only North end, worm the weeds, this place has it all! Wilhelm is also close to I-79 making it easy to get to.

What color tubebaits work best to imitate Goby?

What color tubebaits work best to imitate Goby?
My top 3 Lake Erie colors are: Green Pumpkin Green Pumpkin Green Pumpkin If those colors don't work I'll try a Mizmo color called "Work of Art" which is basically watermelon. A dark melon rounds out my goby immitators. I've never found a need to get funky with colors like GP w/ some color flake. IMHO presentation is far more critical, just like your example of having to wait between drags. Find the right presentation and you'll catch 'em if your tube color is close to goby!

Gulp! goby rigging
I use a regular Gammie drop shot / split shot hook, size 1. Nose hook the bait, works just fine.......
