  1. Appreciate the invite to post but I'll refrain. This post has the propensity to turn ugly. I've been in LE for 13 years and I'm very opinionated on this subject, I do not want to be responsible for the ugly turn should it happen. I will add.......I agree to an extent that some people do sometimes make unintentional mistakes and do deserve the forgiveness our society (and justice system) grants them. The term "convicted felon" is often labled on people whom have committed non violent felonies when many misdemeanor crimes are far more violent. I agree that labeling all "felons" is unfair. It is also equally unfair to label all police officers even though a few do make the rest look bad.
  2. I was gonna post my opinion.......I reconsidered since it was not very favorable regarding some of the opinions I have read here, I don't want to offend anyone or make anyone mad. I'm one of the few on "the other side of the fence" here being that I work in Law Enforcement. I will say this, it is highly unlikely that States or Federal agencies will change their laws or requirements that would allow Felons of any kind to be sworn Law Enforcement personnel.
  3. Cool.....unless your in LE and on the receiving end of some dirtbag who just stole it, used it to rob a convenience store, then turned it on you :-?
  4. Why not buy the pre-made heads and wire, that eliminates the need to pour them. You can find them in variety of colors, shapes, and weights at the sites mentioned. It will save you alot of time in the pouring and painting phases.
  5. Erie is definately special.......
  6. Man, they are in the bay way longer than mid May! Look at the results of your PIB Fathers Day tourneys in mid June, all smallmouth limits! Regionals were on the bay last year 3rd weekend of June and again just about all smallmouth limits. Late May or early June is an ideal time to try and pull this get together off.
  7. ww2farmer, your 17 would be ok for the bay, it would be a little rough in the lake if yours is the jon boat style hull. A 17 deep V like flyhatch mentioned gets by. If we do this at the time frame Ben and I mentioned, smallmouth will still be in the bay in large numbers. If we do get the itch to head out onto the big pond then you could jump in with someone. btw, I already have a hotel idea, the Inn at Presque Isle is really close, not too shabby, and has great rates for fisherman. Plenty of good eats close by also.
  8. Ben I agree that if we do this, late May or early June will be the best time. We'll have to look at our club schedules and pick a weekend that is open, that can be tough in May / June with all the stuff going on. I hear your coming to Crawford? Awesome! See you this Sunday if your coming to the meeting......
  9. My solution for winter.............. SPRING
  10. I'm game....... The City of Erie area would be a good choice. Plenty of cheap accomodations around Presque Isle and if the main lake is rough Presque Isle is one of the best largemouth fisheries in the state.
  11. I have a 1648 Grizzly, I did the floor (used aluminum), extended the front deck, added a livewell to mine. So far I have been satisfied with mine. I just wish I could use a larger hp motor! A 35 would make yours run great. I use an 18hp (we are limited to 20 hp, some 9.9 hp, on alot of small lakes here) and it goes about 22 mph. One word of advice, definately get a trollling motor around 55 lb thrust. I had a 40 on it, just was not enough. I now have a 55lb Minn Kota and it is worlds better.
  12. I can't believe I have to post this............. As of today, I now cannot attend the roadtrip. Words cannot say how dissapointed I am not to be able to meet everyone, fish a great lake, and bail on roadwarrior since he has been so gracious to invite me to stay with him. When I arrived for work today my Chief of Police informed me that I was choosen to attend a Field Training Officer Supervsior class scheduled for March 24-26. This class is only being offered one time in this state this year. Basically, I will supervise the officers that train new recruit officers. It's a good career acheivement for me but it leaves me void of the anticipation I had thinking about Guntersville. Hope everyone catches one for me, I'll be daydreaming of fishing with you while at the class. :-/
  13. I've never caught one, nor have I eaten one. Some anglers say they taste like lobster, some say they are horrible. I don't fish for them, thought about trying it, but this time of year I'm chasing stream steelhead, I really have no desire to stand on a concrete pier and watch a rod baited with gobs of bait sitting on the bottom. Just not my style.
  14. $37 for license and Lake Erie combo stamp. Far as I'm concerned, it's CHEAP!
  15. I just did the math according to the H30 website. Frames are $19.95 Lenses are $35 per set ($105 total for 3 sets, the package comes with 3 sets) Based on my math thats $124.95 if purchased separately, $5 MORE than the package's price of $119.95. The H30 site also states that the frames ARE warrantied for life, the lenses for 1 year against defects. Sounds like an OK deal to me. I may actually try a pair!
  16. Regarding my reply....... My glasses are H20 Optics. I see that there are also H30 sunglasses. Best of luck in whatever you buy.
  17. Are you sure you have the name right? I have polarized glasses called H2o, actually full name is H2optics. I just got them and so far I like them. They seem to be a decent for the price. I purchased mine off an ebay store for under $40 and had them in 3 days. I have yet to wear them on the water but they should be ok.....
  18. bassn'......that about explains itself leo.......stands for law enforcement officer a cop who fishes
  19. No ice yet here in PA.... Hope it stays that way! :
  20. Buffalo is ok with me to, I can be there in under 2 hours : We could always meet half way, Dunkirk or Barcelona? After that we could head South and hit Chautauqua for a day. Man, Spring needs to hurry up ;D
  21. X2 Glad to hear all is going well!
  22. Great! Sundays are good for me also, I'll keep an eye on the weather for a decent day. My wife is ready for some walleye fillets!
  23. My favorite ds worm / bait is The Luck-E-Strike "Rick Clunn" Razor worm. It's a simple 4" straight tail worm that comes 20 to a pack for $2.19 Bass Pro carries them, that's about the only place I can find them. I don't get too fancy colorwise, green pumpkin, watermelon w/ red flake, and a pumpkin color cover just about everything for me.
  24. Shimano Sedona is not too bad of a choice either
