Such thing as an abrasion resistant fluorocarbon line???
I used 1 spool of 6lb Gamma Edge all season long and NEVER broke off a fish. I mainly used it on a drop shot rod and drop shotting smallies in Lake Erie. Also used it for largies in a variety of situations, mostly 10, 12, 16 lb tests. The only line I have any more confidence in is braid. Lake Erie is infested with zebra mussells which will trash line in no time. I landed several fish with nicks in my line. Gamma is a little pricey compared to other floro lines but well worth it imho. And, X2 to roadwarriors comment about properly setting the drag!

Storage ideas?
Those office supply store file trays look just like they would work great! The other product mentioned defiantely is a little pricey plus I already have fairly large compartments and don't want to add any more. Thanks for the ideas!

Storage ideas?
I'm trying to design a storage device for my plastic Plano boxes. Instead of keeping them in a tackle bag (which takes up room in my storage compartments) I'd like to design some type of rack to install inside the compartment(s) of my bass boat. I have 2 large storage compartments in the bow of my boat and in looking at them I'm sure I could fit like 8 Plano's in one compartment if I had some sort of rack to hold them. That would leave the other side open for other stuff or riders tackle. Any ideas? Does someone make on that just can be dropped in? Thanks for any input.

Ultimate Match Fishing?
I also just saw the first half of the finals for the first time. I don't follow the show as religiously as some. I gotta say that Kelly Jordan put on a CLINIC with that friggin spoon. 5 big fish in 9 minutes? That's just nuts!

Heat and mono
I'm with skillet, I've never had the cold affect mono. I use it all winter in temps at or below freezing for steelhead. I even go as small as 4 or 6 lb test, never had an issue with mono performing in the cold. Back to avid's ? I to have read that UV rays will damage mono and weaken it. I don't know if it is actually the heat or the exposure to the rays but I'm gonna go with exposure.

Anybody ever catch an Eel Pout ???
Round here those things are commonly called Burbot. They are chased on Lake Erie in the Winter months, mostly at night. Here's a few pics of some caught in Erie the last couple years:

Man did I have a bad day!
Yep, G'ville keeps me going! Woke up to 6 more inches of snow, took me 2 hours to clear out the driveway so wifey could leave for work. Waiting now for garage door repair man to arrive. Looks like it will be a really white Christmas. I'm gonna get a few pics and put em up.....

Allegheny River pictoral
Thanks, it's a nice pictoral that shows the Allegheny from it's start to it's finish. There are quite a few pics that are close to where I live. The Oil City, Parker, Foxburg, Brady's Bend, East Brady pics are all close and GREAT fishing areas!

Allegheny River pictoral
A friend e-mailed this to me. It's a really nice pictoral of the Alleghney River from it's headwaters to it's confluence with the Ohio River in Pittsburgh. Enjoy! http://www.pittsburghquarterly.com/pages/winter2008/large.html

Man did I have a bad day!
First my overhead garage door breaks.......One of the tension cables broke and the friggin door wouldn't go up or down and my wife's car was inside. I had to cut the other tension cable, that was an experience Finally get a friend to help me lift the door, hold it up, pull wife's car out. Gotta call a local overhead garage door tomorrow to see if it can be fixed. Next, fire up the snowblower......It snowed almost all night here then it turned to rain this morning. The snow was so heavy and slushy underneath that the blower just kept clogging. Ok, gotta shovel....... Get the shovel, it breaks after about 5 minutes. Drive to 3 stores before I find a decent snow shovel and it was $20 Drive back home and it took me about 3 hours to shovel the heavy snow....Great thing is.......it's snowing again and forecast is for 2-4 more inches tonight > I hate winter.....

3rd Annual BassResource.com Roadtrip!!!
Ronnie, the site looks great and should be very useful. May I ask a question? Why was it necessary to "denote" members with less than 1 year here? I have been a BR member since January 2006, that's almost 2 years. I was "denoted" as being a less than 1 year BR member. Eric

B.A.S.S. sticks it to the kids-Bigtime
I don't know when the divorce will come but it does appear like one is building.........again. I was in a B.A.S.S. federation affiliated club, actually 2 of them at one time. When the big federation split occurred one club stayed BASS the other went FLW. I stayed with the FLW affiliated club and at this point I'm glad I did. I have allowed my BASS membership to expire. Since it has expired I have received 10 letters and have received at least 5 phone calls to renew my membership. We're talking about a twenty dollar membership. I would agree that it's all about the dollar signs.........

Latest hot spot for smallies
Right on, Presque Isle Bay of Lake Erie in May can be fantastic. Both smallmouth and largemouth will be shallow and have the feedbags on. It's possible to have a 100+ fish day in May between a couple guys. If the weather cooperates you can also venture out onto the main lake. Erie has close and afffordable lodging, nice ramps, plenty of eating establishments. Dependng on what time in May you go you may even tie into a steelhead or 2, pike, musky........ Feel free to PM me if you want any more info.

Your " go-to" bait when fishing is tough???
A 3/4 oz football jig w/ Micro Munch black/blue hydrosilk skirt. Zoom Ultra Vibe trailer. I know 3/4 may seem heavy, I like to maintain contact with the bait at all times. I can fish this bait fast like a crank or keep it in one place and barely hop it. If the fish have lock jaw then I figure I'm going to be fishing a little deeper and usually around some form of cover such as deep weeds or stumps. If I'm going to get bites then they generally will be larger fish on this jig. This past summer I fished a late summer tournament where the entire field struggled. One guy had a limit, guess who I caught over 15 keepers that day and ended up with 15 lbs, lunker of 5.58 lbs, and winning by 6 lbs. I caught everything on the above jig.....Just an example of how and why it's my go to.........

Casting out drop shot?
I also cast a drop shot 99% of the time. I have found that when fish are inactive I turn to fishing the rig more vertically, and shorten my leader, seems to get me a few more bites. The spoon idea is good to!
