Marshall County here. Just got my first boat. Anybody here fish Kentucky Lake or northern Lake Barkley that would be willing to share any pointers for march and april?

It could use some cleaning up but it looked pretty good. The carpet and seats looked good. We haven't got to take it out yet to see how it runs. Not a lot of room for several poles but is better than what I have, nothing.

I have been wanting to buy my first bass boat for awhile and someone told me about this boat. The guy bought it new and is a one owner who kept it in the garage. He is moving and needs to sell it. I was told that the gel coat is in great condition along with everything else. I forgot what brand motor it was but it was a 90. I am sure all the electronics is outdated. I think he will take $2,200 for it. I go to look at it monday and was wanting to do some research on it before I went. Does anybody know anything about them. I can only find that they were made for two years and went under. I live 5 minutes from Kentucky Lake so that is where I would be doing most of my fishing. Would a 16ft boat be to small for bigger lakes? Any help would be appreciated.

I have 2 of these, both are 7' MH rods, one is fast and one is moderate and I have no coplaints with either of them.

I picked up another Citica at GM for that price, cant beat it.

I saw another topic yesterday where the citica was on sell for $80 at GM so I bought anothe citica last night.

Is this a good reel to use? I am thinking about buying a used one and was wandering how they hold up. I am wanting to buy a reel for crankbaits for around $100.

I see his point, and since West Virginia and Virginia are in the Southeast Forum it would seem only logical to put Kentucky in the Southeast also. Besides, try telling someone from Kentucky they are from the Northeast, lol.

I looked at everyones replies and then looked at the reviews and am going to get the shimano citica and the bps pro qualifier for the reels. The silver max goes on sale for $39 so I think I am going to pick one of those up on the side. I am still looking at which rods to get with them. I dont ever rush into buying things unless they are on a big sale, lol.

Thanks for all the quick responses. I will look at what everybody suggested and pick up a couple more poles. I will post on here what I decided to get. We live probably 5 minutes from the Kentucky Lake Dam and I have been hinting to the other half about maybe getting a bassboat so he can practice, hehe. We will see how that goes, lol. Well he joined the High School Fishing Team and it got us excited about fishing again. We live close to Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley and maybe looking at getting a boat. I was doing some searching on the internet for fishing and come across this websit and decided to join. We just wanted to say Hi as the newcomers.

My son and I have always enjoyed fishing but dont get the opportunity as much as we like. When we do fish it is usually at the pond on the farm because we dont have a boat. He joined the High School Fishing Team this year and fished in his first tournament this fall. He really enjoyed it and I thought I would get him a new rod and reel or two for christmas since the ones we have is old or not very good. Any sugestions on what to get him without breaking the bank? He can use spinning and baitcasting reels. He mainly will be bass fishing using soft plastics, spinners, cranks, and stuff. The reels he uses now is my old Pflueger Criterion baitcaster, CTN440, 6.3:1 gear ratio, with a Plueger Criterion 6' Med Action rod with 12lb Trilene XT Extra tough Line. Abu Garcia MX120R spinner, 5.2:1 gear ratio on a Zebco 6' med action rod. I prob bought this when I was a teenager it is so old. This combo was given to him thru FLW for some reason and I think it is a cheap combo. Mitchell 310X spinner, 4.9:1 gear ratio on a Mitchell 5'6" Light Action rod. I have looked at webpages of rods and reels until my eyes hurt and I am no better off now then I was when I started. I was thinking maybe getting something so he could have different choices when he fishes and he could just switch reels. I am just a recreational pond fisherman and dont have alot of knowledge when it comes to different set ups. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
