  1. Yeah that's not such a great deal lol.. that looks like the USDM Calcutta where the complaints are that you have to open up the reel to adjust the brakes because it doesn't have the opening side plate, and its a 200 size, the OP wants a 300 or 400 size.
  2. Yep that's the D, its got x ship and the JDM version you can open the side plate up and adjust the brakes.
  3. The 300 is only $255 and the 400 is only $263 http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/sanpei-japan/item/shimano-ca030962/
  4. JDM Calcutta can be had for around 300 shipped from Japan.
  5. They should fish very similar to any other Doyo made reel.
  6. Sick reel! You know they have matching scorpion rods right? Lol
  7. I suspect an update to the shimano 50 lp line in the next year so I'd buy this model while you can, its an all time great.
  8. Sweet! Post some pics when you get it or do one of those unboxing videos and post to YouTube lol
  9. Congrats, I bought one at that price and its a solid reel and casts really good. But if i paid retail I would have been a little disappointed.
  10. Its the same plus 2 knob bearings and a cooler cast control cap. The bearings might be higher quality which is sometimes the case with JDM shimano.
  11. I have about 10 reels and rods after selling a few. I don't have a boat and a small car so I only bring a max of 2 combos. A regular and a baitfinesse. While it is about catching fish, for me the experience of catching the fish is made more pleasurable with varied and nice reels and rods.
  12. If you order from Japan there are tons of handle and knob options. Hedgehog Studios has a cast control cap option, no spool options yet, but soon according to hedgehog studios.
  13. If I was limited to just one reel then it would be one that could cast far and have a wide casting range that can handle light lures as well as heavy. Right now the metanium does that best out of all my reels.
  14. Do you really think people were getting tricked? Seriously? The D was 100 dollars more than the E. Fact.. Chronarch D didn't sell, that's why the plug was pulled. People loved to complain about that yet hardly anyone ponied up and bought it. The renaming of the curado/chronarch line didn't make sense to me but it didnt matter as I was not interested in any of the reels. Don't get caught up in name cache, the curado G was not a bad reel as anyone who actually owns one will testify. It was a downgrade in a couple of components to the E and not made in Japan hence the reduction in price. My point was that people who were never in the market for a shimano in that price range did most of the complaining on the internet. Whats the point of complaining about something you were never interested in anyways?
  15. As in people who were actually in the market to buy a G or a competing reel in the price range, not people who take jabs at Shimano on the internet but had zero intention of buying one. Back on topic, I suspect if the core 100 goes on sale they will be gone in a flash.. Just like the Curado Gs
  16. Fishing from shore, distance is my number one priority to cover as much water as I can.
  17. Most of the people who were in an "uproar" were fans of other brands who were never interested in buying either reels. They just took the opportunity to take a shot at shimano. Everyone else who mattered just continued to buy the chronarch e. The new models were going to come out regardless, due to the fact that shimano updated the Antares with new technology and that was going to trickle down into the lower priced models and they were in the process of updating their line up.
  18. I'd like to see the results. I've never read one review on the MGXtreme despite it being out for a couple of years.
  19. With your brake settings 100 plus feet should be easy. Are you casting overhead or side arm? Also, I keep the outside dial at 1 and only go up if I'm back lashing. Better bearings could help but they aren't going to double your distance.
  20. I have, reminds me of the Tatula videos. With the right video editing anything can look impressive lol. If the spool was in the 12 to 14 gram range we may see a seperation in performance but Im gonna predict similar casting to the tat r.
  21. I saw the spool weight in the new zillions, I don't think there will be much difference in casting if any between it and the Tatula. I'd you are gonna spend new zillion money get an Exsence DC or Metanium from Japan.
  22. I've thrown down to 1/8th on it. It wasn't the ideal rod and line but it worked in a pinch because I didn't have a bfs setup with me.
  23. I have the Curado I and Tatula R. Id say the Curado is a little better overall. You should treat yourself to a 50 sized Shimano, like a Scorpion, Core50, or Chronarch 50.
