I have a 7 ft mh/f magbass rod form loomis, and have recenlty been throwing lots of soft plastics on it. I started with senkos and liked them, then started throwing some more worms and tubes on it. Would this rod be ok for shakey head? I also have a 6' 7'' m/f rod and use it for mostly tops and jerks but they aren't my favorite methods. I feel like the rod would be fine for me considering there is so much structure in my lake even weedless lures get hung up. I use baitcasters for everything and have no spinning gear. Any opinions or advice would be helpful.

The first lake im gonna be going to is a stocked lake. The local retail guy pointed me to the stuff he uses and has great success with. Ill be sticking to art. lures. What ultralight cranks do you recommend?

Not sure if I should post this here being that this is a bass forum but, I have seen some trout posts here as well. Its still early in my area for bass fishing but the trout fishing is booking in eastern PA, so i want to try it out. Im using in line spinners from 1/16 to 1/4 of an oz and some tiny grubs with a hook that cant weigh anymore then the spinners.I might also pick up those rebel wee craws which are 1/5 oz. Ill use 2lb mono because the guy at my local retailer swore by 2lb mono. I have decided on this reel the Bass Pro Shops TinyLite Spinning Reel. Rod choice is where i'm utterly confused. From what I understand trout have a hard upper lip/mouth area so you want a rod tip with enough force to set the hook yet handle light line and light lures. Everything is ultralight. Should I bump the line up to 4lb or stick with 2? Any help would be awesome. If this post is in the wrong place tell me where I should move it.

Hmm i always thought mh/f was considered the most versatile. I think ill use the rod for jerks, tops and wacky but, I have read to use fluoro for wacky and and I know for top fluoro is a no no . Any suggestion for lines to use to accommodate all these lures, if thats possible.

Hey guys I got a new rod about a month ago and I now use it for swimjigs,spinnerbaits,lipless cranks,spoons and tubes. I have a 6'6'' medium/fast rod leftover. I know that topwaters would be good on it and so would jerkbaits but, are there any other applications that I could use this rod for? I was thinking maybe giving whacky worming a try with a senko. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hey man, I dont think the bass will be that far down. Bass are restricted to how deep they can go because as water depth increases oxygen levels decrease so this limits where the bass can go.Another possible limitinf factor would be where the baitfish are going. Baitfish usually clump together in shallow coves and the bass more often then not will folow there forage.

Hey dude, bass will follow the whatever forage they are feeding on. So this cold be in shallow or deeper water. Id say look where the baitfish are bunching up and try to fish around those spots. Hey guys I have been fishing in the same lake for about a year now and know every fish species the lake has to offer. Theres a ton of baitfish in my lake but one forage I have never seen is crayfish. Now I have had a pack of craw trailers for some time now but have never used them. My question really has two parts to it. The first is is there any way to tell if crawfish are in a particular body of water? The second is is if there are no present crawfish in my lake will a bass bite down on a craw jig instinctively. In other words do bass have a natural instinct that tells them that this is a craw and its super tasty go for it? Oh and one more question. When i put together a jig and i am aiming for a certain weight for the jig, do I also take into account the weight of the trailer? Lots of people have told me to aim for a 3/8 oz jig but all my jig heads weight 3/8 and was wondering if when they tell me to get a 3/8 oz jig do they mean jig head and trailer combined?

Its getting to cold for me in PA now and I dont think ill be going out again thsi year so im bummed out. So what do you guys do thats fishing related during the off season? I like to look at new gear coming out making a future tackle shopping list and looking for new places to fish and of course visit the forums. I have other hobbies to but, fishing is my main id say.

I just got an IMX mag bass to throw everything from lipless to spoons to chatters and everything in between.I was gonna get a gl2 at first but my hand gripping style and overall fishign style didnt agree with the gl2's setup. The IMX is a dream, full quality cork handle, sensitive, lgiht and well balanced. The IMX is the starting point for true loomis quality everythig below IMX doesnt differ much from every other manufacturers lower quality rods they just blend in. IMX to infinity and beyond.

Yeah that is a use for them although a very niche reel then imo.

I was just wondering when is it a really good idea to use a super high speed reel like a revo recket or a metanium xg. I own a 7:4 reel and do people mostly use them just to be faster overall or is there certain techniques where the fastest possible is best?People seem to go crazy over them yet only a few manufacturers make the blazing fast models.

yeah its strange there is no review tackletour never got around to it I guess.
