Balanced Rod For Multiple Applications
I have a 7 ft mh/f magbass rod form loomis, and have recenlty been throwing lots of soft plastics on it. I started with senkos and liked them, then started throwing some more worms and tubes on it. Would this rod be ok for shakey head? I also have a 6' 7'' m/f rod and use it for mostly tops and jerks but they aren't my favorite methods. I feel like the rod would be fine for me considering there is so much structure in my lake even weedless lures get hung up. I use baitcasters for everything and have no spinning gear. Any opinions or advice would be helpful.

Utter Confusion With Regards To Trout Tackle
Not sure if I should post this here being that this is a bass forum but, I have seen some trout posts here as well. Its still early in my area for bass fishing but the trout fishing is booking in eastern PA, so i want to try it out. Im using in line spinners from 1/16 to 1/4 of an oz and some tiny grubs with a hook that cant weigh anymore then the spinners.I might also pick up those rebel wee craws which are 1/5 oz. Ill use 2lb mono because the guy at my local retailer swore by 2lb mono. I have decided on this reel the Bass Pro Shops TinyLite Spinning Reel. Rod choice is where i'm utterly confused. From what I understand trout have a hard upper lip/mouth area so you want a rod tip with enough force to set the hook yet handle light line and light lures. Everything is ultralight. This might be good ?http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-Micro-Lite-Graphite-ML-Series-Spinning-Rod/product/10204875/the light 7' one. would a medium light rod work better for what I'm doing? Should I bump the line up to 4lb or stick with 2? Any help would be awesome. If this post is in the wrong place tell me where I should move it.

What To Use On My Rod Leftover?
Hmm i always thought mh/f was considered the most versatile. I think ill use the rod for jerks, tops and wacky but, I have read to use fluoro for wacky and and I know for top fluoro is a no no . Any suggestion for lines to use to accommodate all these lures, if thats possible.

What To Use On My Rod Leftover?
Hey guys I got a new rod about a month ago and I now use it for swimjigs, spinnerbaits, lipless cranks, spoons and tubes. I have a 6'6'' medium/fast rod leftover. I know that topwaters would be good on it and so would jerkbaits but, are there any other applications that I could use this rod for? I was thinking maybe giving whacky worming a try with a senko. Any suggestions would be helpful.

Catching Smallies In A Spring Fed Small Lake?
Hey man, I dont think the bass will be that far down. Bass are restricted to how deep they can go because as water depth increases oxygen levels decrease so this limits where the bass can go.Another possible limitinf factor would be where the baitfish are going. Baitfish usually clump together in shallow coves and the bass more often then not will folow there forage.

Lake Michigan Smallies
Hey dude, bass will follow the whatever forage they are feeding on. So this cold be in shallow or deeper water. Id say look where the baitfish are bunching up and try to fish around those spots. Heres a link I found that has some great info for you. http://www.bassmaster.com/tips/how-seasons-and-temperature-affect-bassgood luck man!

Using A Crawfish Swim Jig For Bass In A Lake
Hey guys I have been fishing in the same lake for about a year now and know every fish species the lake has to offer. Theres a ton of baitfish in my lake but one forage I have never seen is crayfish. Now I have had a pack of craw trailers for some time now but have never used them. My question really has two parts to it. The first is is there any way to tell if crawfish are in a particular body of water? The second is is if there are no present crawfish in my lake will a bass bite down on a craw jig instinctively. In other words do bass have a natural instinct that tells them that this is a craw and its super tasty go for it? Oh and one more question. When i put together a jig and i am aiming for a certain weight for the jig, do I also take into account the weight of the trailer? Lots of people have told me to aim for a 3/8 oz jig but all my jig heads weight 3/8 and was wondering if when they tell me to get a 3/8 oz jig do they mean jig head and trailer combined?

Best,cheapest G.loomis
I just got an IMX mag bass to throw everything from lipless to spoons to chatters and everything in between.I was gonna get a gl2 at first but my hand gripping style and overall fishign style didnt agree with the gl2's setup. The IMX is a dream, full quality cork handle, sensitive, lgiht and well balanced. The IMX is the starting point for true loomis quality everythig below IMX doesnt differ much from every other manufacturers lower quality rods they just blend in. IMX to infinity and beyond.

New Bps Crankin' Stick. *micros Are In*
Cool thanks for letting us know that some new products are out. Do you think you will get to use them or anything? Id like to know how they compare to some similarly priced models.

Extreme Gear Ratios
Yeah that is a use for them although a very niche reel then imo.

Extreme Gear Ratios
I was just wondering when is it a really good idea to use a super high speed reel like a revo recket or a metanium xg. I own a 7:4 reel and do people mostly use them just to be faster overall or is there certain techniques where the fastest possible is best?People seem to go crazy over them yet only a few manufacturers make the blazing fast models.

Reel Battle!
yeah its strange there is no review tackletour never got around to it I guess.

Reel Battle!
I just got my MGXtreme in yesterday and I just ordered today a shimano Metanium HG which should be here next Monday hopefully. I want to give a review sort of thing for both of them because I had a little trouble finding detailed reviews of the MGXtreme and to also help some folks out if they are trying to decide on a high dollar reel to spoil themselves with. Ill only be keeping one of them so its gonna be tough. Ive only had the MG for two days and im already calling it my baby. So next week hopefully a review sort of thing will be up and I can give some insight in to these two beasts of a reel.

Rod Suggestions?
More then half of the things you want will work well to very well with a MH/F rod. Lpless cranks , jigs and spinners will work very well with a rod like that. The only lure that that I would maybe want a moderate rod would be for jerkbaits but... I hate jerks so I don't know much about them personally.

Slow Reels For What?
So I used to use a 6:X ratio reel for cranks of all kinds when I first started fishing. It worked well but, there is a lot of vegetation where I fish so it is ideal to have a quicker reel to keep that bait above the grass line. I caught the most fish on my rapala lipless cranks and the faster reel was like night and day compared to slower speeds. The reel ratio is very situational and you shouldn't base gear ratio purely on techniques, surroundings play a big role as well. So I moved to 7:X reels and they work much better for me. Generally though anything thats going deep you will want a slower retrieve such as big deep diving cranks, deep spinners and big jigs. The slower retrieve in a way cancels out the increased torque a bait would experience in deeper depths so that equals a much more natural, collected and effortless retrieve.

Grinding Or Clicking Noise On New Reel
Alright thanks for the advice, I took a swab to the gears to pick up excess oil and relubed and it seems to have solved the issue.

Grinding Or Clicking Noise On New Reel
Yeah i made sure to tighten that back up. Not sure if that was the problem though ill check tomorrow when I go out again.I kinda suck with baitcaster anatomy lol the spool retention screw would be the silver screw with the metal bar going across the reel?

Grinding Or Clicking Noise On New Reel
Hey guys just got my new MGXtreme reel today and went out fishing and about 1hr into fishing the reel started to make a dull click or grinding noise. I thought that was odd and it seemed to make the noise at the same part of the rotation every time. I thought maybe something somehow got lodged into the gears so, I made a few hard casts to maybe shake something out. I stopped after a few casts and did not come back. I have no idea what was causing this. Has this ever happened to you guys with a new reel? I might have it cleaned and what not to make sure something isnt lodged or there is no build up of reel oil in there.

Trying To Decide On An All Around Bait Casting Setup
MH/F with a 6:X gear ratio. The MH/F will handle most things well (maybe not shallow or medium divers as well as you would like) but, lipless cranks will be good on it. The MH/F will be good for almost any single hook application where setting the hook strong and quick is a must. IF you could find a rod that has a fast tip yet has a nice parabolic bend treble hooks should be a non issue for you since the nice bend will make up for the MH back . If you cant tets out any rods to check how the rod bends you can always change drag depending on applications as well or switch out type of line. I just got a G Loomis IMX MH/F with an mgxtreme 7:4:1 and I will be using it for spinners, chatters, buzz, swimjigs, lipless cranks and topwaters.
