  1. 6'10 BFS model. Its light, crisp, feels like a fast tip but it can load down to 1/8th pretty good, not much under that though. Havent caught anything but dinks on it so cant comment about the power yet. ratings are for 4-15 grams
  2. Im actually going to pick up a Revo LTZ AE-74. For the price it comes with a spare spool heres my BFS XG to wet your appetite lol
  3. http://global.rakuten.com/en/category/sports_outdoor/fishing/ prices fluctuate depending on the exchange rate but pros are, prices are the cheapest, cons are no warranty.
  4. What exactly is your price point? I have the BFS XG and its awesome.. it made my Core50 redundant. That said the Core/Curado/Chronarch 50 will sling 1/8 oz in stock form a pretty long ways on the right rod. They can even dip slightly under that. Whats more important actually is the rod. I have a Major Craft Volkey BFS 6'9 UL that's rated 1/32 to 1/4 oz. I have a couple of other rods that are rated down to 1/8 oz and they don't load up those weights nearly as well. Ive thrown Bitsy Minnows with accuracy on my Aldebaran/Volkey combo at least 40 ft. out of the box with 8lb mono, and they are rated at 1/16th oz. Finesse baitcasters are not big in the US but there are way more options than the status quo Pixy now. If you don't mind a slight weight increase take a look at the JDM Abu Revo LT. Its basically an aluminum version of the LTX with the same shallow spool and braking system. You can get them for about 190 from Japan.
  5. Im the kind of person who likes to hear the reports from people who have actual extensive use of reels instead of "estimating" performance without actual use(like most people have done with the Curado G) , that being said, this came from the TT forum ironically from the user "daiwafreak" lol The topic was the new Certate vs Stella FE. "Stella is better in pretty much every aspect in my opinion. They are smoother, quieter, and more durable. The drag on the Stella is also miles ahead of the Certate. It isn't really a fair comparison though, since the Stella costs more than the Certate. I have run braid on my Steez 2508 before, no worries. However, after 6 months use, it started to feel grindy and it was very noisy, which is why I prefer to use Shimanos now. However, using braid on a reel will not affect a reel's durability. The line roller bearings always die on the daiwa reels, its a very common problem. The digigear will only last you a few years of solid use, then they will begin to feel grindy and noisy. Bottom line, go with the Stella if you are willing to fork out the bucks." Then a known huge Daiwa fan boy on that forum stepped in with his 2 cents.. here is one of those "opinions" based on reading specs and features vs actual use of either reel. "Hmmm...roller bearing aside, I don't necessarily think that a Stella is more robust or durable than a Certate. More refined and higher end with better components, lighter...yes. Personally, I have not felt a like sized Stella reel that is stronger in feel or more robust in cranking power as the Certate 2500R I current have. Another consideration is the different levels of Certates from standard to SW grade to finesse grade...akin to the Stella line-up for FW, finesse shallow spool, SW and large SW. Additionally, it is likely unfair to compare the durability of a Steez (DigiGear or not) to a Certate. IIRC, there was a few posts by a fellow memeber here that burnt through Stella drags and roller bearings at a more accelerated pace than his Certates while fishing for steelhead. Just my two cents." He then gets put in check by "daiwafreak" who has extensive use of both reels and more. " I'm going to have to challenge you on that one mate. I've owned a Certate 2500R, Steez 2508, the 2007 JDM Stella 2500 and the new 2010 C3000 Stella. The new 2010 and 2007 Stella's have insane cranking power, way more than the 2500R Certate. I took the certate and steez out for 10 or so SW sessions, both of their line roller bearings became noisy, both were beginning to have a grindy feel, and both had very noisy gearing. The Certate was back to normal once I serviced it, but the Steez had worn out gears. The Stella's on the other hand, have had more use, but are still as smooth as new. Most of the fishing I do here down under is in salty and sometimes brackish water with PE braid. In these tough conditions, I have found that the Stella's are more durable than the Certates or the Steez or Exist. Anyway, in the end, its personal preference. By the way, the Steez has digigear II, as does the certate." Ironically, the daiwa guy wound up buying a Stella FE and acknowledged that its a class above his Certate. But then again thats why the Stella costs so much.
  6. Sorry to break it to you but the Citica E also has a plastic drag star dude. Doesnt diminish its performance though
  7. Tackletour did a shootout with the Curado E5, Crazy Cranker, Revo Winch and a Quantum for their low speed crank bait reel shootout. The Curado won and was the cheapest too if that matters.
  8. This is incorrect. There is no current US equivalent to the Scorpion DC7. But the body is the the same as the Curado E series only with DC braking instead of SVS.
  9. I bought a Scorpion DC7 a couple of months ago, havent had a chance to use it but the freespool is amazing. Ive read reports that it casts as far as a Revo Premier(latest version). Im going to put it to the test next year because I have a Revo Elite IB as well. Being the "entry level" DC system Im not surprised that it doesnt cast as far as the more expensive DC systems but Im sure it will outcast 99% of other reels on the market. If you want to get into the DC world this is the cheapest way as far as new reels go.
  10. On the subject of weight.. the Curado 50 is light.. it feels like a feather after picking up my Revo SX, but then when I put the Curado down and pick up my Core 50, Im like WOW thats light, its definitely noticeable when you pick up one after the other.
  11. I have both and some minor differences between the 2 are besides weight and color Ive noticed are 1. Curado handle length is slightly longer I believe 2. The levelwind bar is metal on the Core, plastic on the Curado 3. The dragstar on the Core is metal I think, plastic on the Curado 4. More bearings in the Core 5. The levelwind on the Core is tapered while the Curados is not. The spools are the same except for the color so the performance should be near identical or close. 1/8th ounce lures are no problem with 6-8lb test
