  1. Checking the lures.... I love that you ran up and removed the gentleman's fish. That's classic. You know, maybe these gentlemen were testing your chivalry acceptance and looking for a wedding ring in hopes to courting a worthy female angler. I tend to take more offense when they start shifting over and then pitch/flip their bait right where I just pulled out a lunker. It's happened more than once and like you, when I was producing and the guys aren't. Angler etiquette is quickly lost in the competition of the sexes. Great story and well played! Jenn
  2. Tom..your comments are truth. I lived in the Sacramento/Elk Grove & Placer county areas for more than 20 years. In all my adult years I have yet to find another state equal to the shear magnitude and catastrophic mismanagement of natural resources and tax revenues as California. It is only now that I live in PA that I have a more objective basis to say so.I was one of the many guilty parties whom lived in master planned communities with CCRs requiring a green lawn. At the time, it seemed like nothing to use 1/4 million gallons of water monthly to keep the lawn green. Sadly, I was a guilty party to the mass urban sprawl that continues to this day. The continual building and shifting of the natural geological layout of the areas, diversion of tributaries and reliance on other state's water resources have compunded both flooding issues and the endangerment to the Delta region. Unfortunately, it seems as though nobody will inform the State they are essentially a desert. What accounts for a vast majority of our vegetables are grown within the San Joaquin region...a desert..kept green and fertile by the aquaduct system. In the end we will all suffer from the lack of growth management and appropriate utilization of resources. Back centuries ago people moved or modified their production and behaviour to match their environment. NOW we manipulate our environment to suit our needs. No good can come from this and it certainly cannot be sustained. Good luck out West. I got out while the getting was good. Jenn
  3. Welcome. I am from Northern CA. I didn't have the time or luxary to enjoy the clear waters of any of the major lakes while I lived there. Best of luck fishing the clear waters of CA!
  4. Good evening fellow anglers. I have read many exceptional posts and articles over the last couple years, but never posted. The hubby finally nagged me into it. Mr. Tomustang and I spend as much time as possible enjoying our sport. It all started so innocent with a couple inexpensive rods and me insisting I would never leave the comfortable world of spincasters ... amazing what a few years and a couple hefty PA bass will do to you. I am now a zealot of the St. Croix Avid line of rods and toss my 7'M with Shimano Curado 200E with a VERY rare bird nest like I was born for this sport (helps having a great mentor). I now know why other avid anglers use the cliches like "I'd rather be fishing." or "The worst day fishing is better then the best day working." I LOVE THIS SPORT. Add to the thrill of the chase and placidity of mind while fishing, my best friend beside me. There are those days, even absent a bite, that standing ashore with my husband at my side is about as close to heaven as I can find on Earth! So thank you Tomustang for being my best friend, my husband and my fishing buddy. Thank you for pointing to the 'fish spots', for never being less than a gentleman when I outfish you and always giving sound instruction and pushing me to be the best angler I can be. Thank you to all the exceptional people who contribute to this site as well, for giving me good information and always conducting yourselves with high ethics and good humor.... You all make my world a better place! I look forward to posting more (but with less word... ) Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Fishing everyone on BR. Jenn
