  1. The best color for down here in S FLA is watermelonseed colors, junebug. The 16 I caught were all on a watermelon seed.
  2. My setup is a 6'6 MH Berkley Lightning Shock rod, BPS Pro Qualifier 6.4:1, 65# Spiderwire, Zara One knock Spook-clear
  3. Yeah, there 4.19 a pack here in FL. Thats pretty expensive for us too. I try to make them last as long as I can.
  4. Watermelon Seed, Watermelon Red, Pumkin Red, June Bug-Lizards/Plastics. Shad-Cranks. Chartruse and Green-Spinnerbaits. Watermelon and Blue-Jigs. Clear/White-Spooks. Green and Yellow-Kermy Frogs.
  5. Caught 16 bass yesterday morning in about 45 minutes in a little canal on them. Holy crap that is the most ive ever caught in such a short period of time.

  7. Welcome to the world of Baitcasters. Quality is going to be your best friend. The Pro Qualifier is going to be the best bang for the buck. As for the Shimano, you cant get better than that company. In my opinion, Shimano is like gold to a fisherman. Stay out of Walmart, your gonna hate life if you waste your money on that junk.
  8. Ive noticed that the new Shimano Curado and Citica dont have the normal gold colored line guides. I know that most rods that are made to handle braided line have AluminumOxide coated guides, is this what they are now doing to the reel line guides? I want to buy a Citica, but will it handle the superline?
  9. Ive had no luck with 30#, for some reason it seems to break on less than 30# of force, and its new line. I gave up and went big, but besides strength, it casts better for me since I use baitcasters. 30# works better for my spinners.
  10. Down here in the Glades they do us no good except Chain Pickerel eat at them. Its mostly lizards, paddle tails, and jigs. But I can kill'em for a buck, haha.
  11. You obviously are a rec. bass fisher. I fish to live and live to fish. Also do tournaments. I agree they are a good rod, but not for the avid angler. Flip anf cast a crappy rod and reel 500 times in 1 days tourney and try and tell me there is no difference. Also, if you go to Bass Pro, you can get a great rod and reel combo for under $100. I wait for sales for good buys. Most of my rods are Berkley Lightning Shock for my 65# Spiderwire, $50, only about $20 more than an Ugly, way less than $100 compeditors, superior to most. Im with you on the fact that $100 is rediculous, but trust me when I say there is a difference.
  12. Use 65 lb Spiderwire. If your gonna do it, go big or go home. Usually the 30# is 6# dia so its too thin, and breaks easily. 65# is 12# dia. You wont have any problems.
  13. Ugly sticks are just that, Bass fishing aint pretty with them. Durable as hell, but no sensation. For $20 more you can get waaaaaay better. Expect at least $60 for a great all around rod. P.S. stay out of Walmart
  14. The best spinner baits to buy? Go to Walmart, and they have a rack of them usually at the bottem where the other spinners are. They come from Costa Rico, and are all different colors and blades. The best part? They cost $1, and if you loose it, or the hook dulls, who cares! I have 2 of every color/blade setup, no problems. Why pay $7 each for something that is very seasonal?
  15. Went back to canal again today to see if it was a fluke on Saturday. What do ya know, 2 1/2 hours and 13 Bass later. Super Hogs!!!!
  16. So while at Bass Pro the other week I accidently picked up a bag of Zoom Super Hawgs instead of Brush Hogs. Well, yesterday I was a kids birthday party with my Fiances family, when I spotted the fact that we were on a canal at the park we were at. Lucky for me I keep a Abu Garcia Cardinal spinner in the trunk of my car. By the way her uncle and her Grandfather both avid anglers, and were not prepared, haha. So I decided to start throwing in after about an hour of kids screaming driving me to fish. Started off using my usual Brush Hogs in watermelon seed, and no luck for about 10 minutes. I could see them in there, they just wouldnt bite. I said to myself, why not try these Super Hawgs out just for the hell of it. Holy crap! These fish went nuts on these things. The way I fished them was using 10lb mono, size 4 hooks, no weight, just toss them and reel them slow while jerking them a little bit. I caught 6 bass in about 30 minutes. They were all around 2.5 lbs, but it was good fishing for the canal it was. Since I normally use a baitcaster with 65lb spiderwire, it was kind of fun to play around with a light tackle setup on these fish. If you get a chance, or you have used them before, they work pretty good. Cant wait to try them in the Everglades.
  17. Saw a few the other month in the canal that runs along Sawgrass Expy near where it joins to US27. They wouldnt bite at anything, were about 3-4 lbers. Also, there are a lot of snakeheads that are in that canal system that are migrating around. They got in there from the C-14 canal.
  18. Oh, OK, I didnt know there was another one, Bass Pro only shows the one, its orange and grey colored with cork handles if that helps.
  19. Only my #1 is my plastic setup. Shimano Curado, Berkley Lightning rod med/heavy, 65lb spiderwire. I use a 0/5 Hook, with 1/8 bullet weight. Lizards, Paddletails, Brushhogs, etc. I can use them all on the same rig. (this is why its my #1).
  20. I like to take the hind end(rear legs and tail section) of my Zoom Lizards and make them trailers for my spinner bait. For some reason the watermelon red lizard end with a green and chartreuse skirted spinner makes them LMB crazy.
  21. Bass Pro Shops at 5am for the Enigma rod and reel combo for 69.95. what a deal, new jig rig.
