  1. I have some 7" BPS stick worms and cant get them in the tool....I need bigger O rings for those and guess I will have to use the needlenose pliers. Definitely love that tool though!
  2. Hi all I recently went to a new lake and it has a tremendous amount of standing timber. This lake is a flooded valley where they left the trees standing and the top of the trees are exposed with therest of the trees in water depths of 15 to 35ft. i would like know how to fish this type of terain as Ost lakes i fish are not flooded timber like this. obviously snags are a huge concern. I didnt have any luck keeping my wacky rigged senko from getting hung up. thanks for any advice you might have
  3. Hi all Question How do you use jigs in a Rip-Rap situation? My favorite hole has the bass hiding in the holes between the Rip Rap. I think Jigs might be great for the fall but I am affraid that I will lose a lot of jigs because they will become wedged in the rocks. Wacky rigged senkos have been killing it through summer but now I think they will like the looks of jigs more. These bass sit in holes at the shoreline so even swim jigs can hag up when put at the waterline. Thanks
  4. I dont have much luck on the river any more....I grew up on Andalusia Slough and as a kid I fished all of the backwater sloughs with my 16ft flatbottom. I have gone back to these areas 25 yrs later and they are all filled in or you cant get access any longer due to the river levels being lower than they used to be. I would love to find some good Bass spots in the mississippi around area but everywhere I have tried in the main sloughs or channel just dont produce much for bass. Suggestions are welcome....
  5. I just tried these Gander Mtn brand this last weekend and we slayed bass on them....whacky style! I use the little "O" rings on them to rig whacky...that works vey well, I even have that little blue "O" ring tool to put em on. We used the 6 inch ones and consistently caught much larger bass
  6. Here is how I did mine... I used a swivel instead of a second split ring. Seems to work well for me Thoughts?
  7. Hi We have absolutely killed the larger bass in our fishing hole with the Storm bulegill swimbait and the Storm Crappie swimbait. Today the Bass and Northern Pike were just crazy over the bluegill. We caught 6 Bass over 4pounds, 12 bass over 3 pounds, and a bunch of ones we didnt weigh. Northerns, 2 over 7 pounds, and 3 over 4 pounds.....I went through two 3 packs of the lures but it was worth every bit of it. Here is what we were using:
  8. I dont fish the west Lake park lakes due to heavy pressure. I never paid attention to the names so I didnt recognize the names of the west lake park lakes when mentioned above. I have not tried lake Goerge yet but suspect that pressure there is high as well... Need to find some good places on the river but with the low water this year it has been tough to get to any sloughs. Ineed to find out where the good sloughs are these days. Always looking for someplace to take the boat though.
  9. Went to the local conservation club last evening to do a little fishing. Put the boat in and parked the car, went to the doc and pushed off. Followed my regular routine to the letter. Dropped the trolling motor in and NOTHING...DEAD! So I go back to the battery compartment and check everything and it all looks good. Make sure the power cable is seeted well in the plug, still nothing. Fiddle around a bit more with no luck. So I look up and I am in the middle of the lake already, drifting away from the only dock. The lake rule is Trolling motor only... so i wonder if I should start the outboard and idle in or get out the paddle. I went with the outboard... No one said anything but I felt very guilty running the outboard. Should I have paddled? BTW the red cable had dislodged from the back of the plug in the front of the boat.
  10. Yes it is 50.00 year to join the Conservation club. All the lakes have shore fishing in different spots...some areas are only excessable via boat. The Lakes are old sand dredging operations but are very mature. Just drive onto Big Island and the conservation club is about 1 mile down the road on the right side. Go in and talk to them and I bet they will let you look around before joining. Money goes to a good cause also....Conservation.
  11. Just bought a KVD crankin Rod at my local WM.... Everytime I go back they have more NEW items, I stop by the fishing department every visit now!
  12. Went back out on the conservation club lake with the boat last evening....caught 3 real nice bass on a swim jig with a rage craw trailer, fished very slow along the bottom. Thinking of hitting the strip mine lakes down by Buda, IL in the next week or so.
  13. I caught 4 Bass in 1 hour the other day at one of the lakes of the Rock Island Conservation Club. I was fishing from shore using a jika rig. Going to try and get the boat out this Saturday.
  14. I live like 2 minutes from W. Kimberly Walmart...selection is so much better, just picked up some KVD square billed cranks the other day.
  15. Where can a person buy the 3M product? THanks
  16. Thanks Guys...I really appreciate your help!
  17. These must not match up well....I knew piecing this together was not going to work out well.
  18. Hi all Through the winter and this spring I have been buying rods and reels when I could find a bargain. Sometimes selection wasnt perfect but I am trying to build a decent collection of rods and reels. Can some of you more experienced anglers take a look at my list below and make some suggestions on what reels would be best on what rods? I really appreciate you input Rods: Skeet Reese Finesse Worm/Fluke 7' Fast Jerkbait/Topwater 6'8" Med Fast Foorball Jig/Big Worm 7'2" Fast Jig/worm 7' 2" Fast Spinnerbait/Worm 7' Med Fast Carrot Stix CL TXPG731 MH-F-C 7'3" Reels: Shimano Curado 200GS 5.5:1 Curado 200GS 6.5:1 Bass Pro 2x Pro Qualifier 7.1:1 1 Pro Qualifier 6.4:1 I know I need 1 more reel and will probably go with another PQ (open to suggestion on Ratio and what rod) Thanks for all of your suggestions!

  20. My local Dicks in Davenport, IA has all Skeet Reese poles as buy one get one free Regular retail at 89.00 or 99.00. Heading back to take advantage of that special. NOT BAD!
  21. Hi I live in the quad cities area and just bought a used bass boat this last fall. Like you I am looking for places to take my boat this year. I know the river pretty well but need to find some lakes to fish. One lake I want to check out is lake storey in Galesburg. I did take the boat down to the strip mine lakes by Buda. IL late last fall and those lakes look promising. Also they just built a new reservoir not far from Scott county park and it will be filling this year. IA dnr is going to stock it and it should be good in year or two. Not familiar with railroad lake you mention. I did hear of lake of the hills but don't know much about it. Send me a pm....maybe we can go explore sometime.
  22. Thanks.....I found an article that describes this same process. One thing it said was that the groove in the shaft of the power drive v2 is not large enough for the cable but the Terra Nova does have a large enough groove. Have you found the same thing? Thanks again.,...it is good to know this is doable!
  23. Anyone out there using a wireless steering minnkota with i-pilot and a transducer mounted on the motor? Just trying to figure out if the cable is as much of a pain as the guy at BPS said it would be. Thanks
  24. Thanks for the input....I really want the ipiolot, I just want to be sure that this issue is manageable. Anyone know of of a workable solution to keep the cable from getting in the way or damaged from raising and lowering the motor.
  25. Hi all I bought my first used bass boat last fall and I am working on some upgrades. I went to the BPS spring classic yesterday and bought a hummingbird 798ci so for the bow (boat has a lowrance x52 currently) The issue came when I started looking at trolling motors... I had thought I was going to get a minn kota v2 #70 with i-pilot. I wanted to mount the 798 transducer to the TM but the sales person said that because of the way that any of the i-pilot capable units lift out of the water the cable for the transducers will be in the way. So essentially I can't have my 798 mounted on the TM if I want i-pilot feature. The other option was to mount the transducer on the transom but if I Am in the front it seems strange that what I would be seeing would be behind me. I do realize the si won't work if the motor is turning but the di will. How do you guys deal with this issue? I appreciate your input so I can decide how and what install. Thanks!
