  1. Does anyone know where they're gonna be launching their boats from? I'd like to know the exact ramps so I can map out my bike ride there. I live in Orlando and might ride 20-30 miles there on one of the days to see the pros.
  2. Flappin' shad in smoke-n-gold are pretty good, look like live shiners sort of. Cane toads are sweet too, probably my fave toad bait. They're easy to cast weightless since they are bulky.
  3. I'd say it's probably a gimmick, and that you're right about not needing anything faster. But.... I guess if there was a time when your buzzbait wasn't being reeled in fast enough, then that's when an 8:1 would be good.
  4. Berkely %100 is my favorite flouro. I tried a the 10 and 12lb small spools they have (or had) at Walmart and was surprised how strong it was. For example on how it's strength per ddiameter is, I was setting the hook on 6 and 7 pounders like I was using 15 plus using a variety of "big fish baits" like a 1/2 football head, 10 inch worms and even 15 inch worms. Also, the pond I fished had muscle shell beds in it too. Just throwing that out there.
  5. You can make them yourself, it's pretty easy. Just need the right rod and reel to cope with the real heavy cover because that stuff is thick! Get some 3/4 to 1.5 ounce tungsten (flippin) weights, a heavy gauged hook and a compact bait. Good to go.
  6. Just get it checked out, no need to suffer and try to figure it out on your own.
  7. That place looks like heaven.
  8. Last year was a travesty for me. Didn't fish as much and haven't been in a while, but it's about that time. One of the most exciting times, if not THE most exciting for me and probably many others. So, I'd like to know who else is anticipating the spawn phenomena and what you're predicting?
  9. Yeah....... speak for yourself man. lol
  10. LOL nice calculator. But I have to really challenge that the bass I caught was 12 pounds, 12 ounces
  11. Nice, that's the exact one I used. You or anyone ever tried to compare such formula to a digital scale? That might be something I should try in the future, regardless of size. Should be able to see what's accurate or not, ya know.
  12. Hey guys, anyone know of the most reliable mathematical equations for measuring bass? I've found that there are several different methods out there, so if anyone knows which is most accurate. Went out to a golf course and caught a giant....this always seems to happen without a scale, camera or buddy to use the camera to photograph it. I always measure it though,(monsters, of course) using my line. Length was 25.5, Girth 20. Thanks again guys.
  13. Walmart has some decent cheap rods too. Bass pro shops' Graphite series rods aren't bad, they're less than 50 bucks.. You just gotta look around, eventually you'll find something good for $50 bucks or less.
  14. Possibly the next full moon? February 7 is the date, hopefully then.
  15. There's plenty of info out there. Videos, magazines, ect. Or you could just spool it up and start figuring it out. The knob by the reel handle is for spool tension. Make sure it's not too loose. You'll figure it out, it gets easier.
  16. Don't matter.
  17. Damnnnn that sucks. They could be there, and should be there or where ever they spawn in that place. Water Temps are right, according to studies and what not.
  18. LOL ^ ......... Well, caught some spawning fish today boys..... A small pond near my house "hosted" a couple bedding. Caught a 3 pounder and a 4. That was the only bed I found in the 200 yard or so diameter of a pond, but it's a start. Gonna fish my more secret and notorious grounds real soon. Good luck guys, as I am gonna try to spot a "teen" (hopefully, if it works as envisioned)
  19. I am making a prediction: I predict spawning this coming weekend. We'll see how that goes. Another thing...For all you boating guys, or anyone with a device to measure water temps.... Can you tell us the water temps you're experiencing and at what regional location? That would be awesome.
  20. Wonder why my post keep getting deleted.... That's low.
  21. Just looks like a cheating contraption to me
  22. Go for it, I've been eyeballing them too.
