  1. Yeah, airbrushing? would of never guessed, but makes sense now. Alright.... did you paint that lure in your photo?
  2. Heck yeah. Who knows, you might "accidentally" hook a giant bass on it, and be in the fight of a lifetime. Hopefully there's not too much heavy cover around when the strike occurs
  3. Alright man, that's good info.
  4. So I have been reading about spawning temperatures. It seems that when they talk about the temps, they're going from cold water to the water warming up. But what about the opposite? Like here in Florida, if the water is warmer than 70 in the winter, than goes to 65, will they spawn then? I am not actually sure what the water temps are down here, but I just wanted to make that an example.
  5. I don't own a boat, nor have a thermometer to actually tell. I'd say around 65-70 degrees. In the past, it seems like I've caught them on beds when the air temps got low, like 40s, and also when the air temps were nearing 80. So I really don't know, I just go when I think it's been warm enough, and look around the shallows.
  6. Probably get a big spool of 12-15 lb mono-Trilene Big Game-. Plus, since you're new at baitcasting, you're probably going to get a couple knarly backlashes, and have to re-spool it. So that's where that bigger spool comes in, as you'll have plenty of line to learn with. Plus it's a good line.
  7. Hopefully man!! Just need to figure out the water temps too, see if they're ready for it...
  8. I tied a lubed up Palomar at the time. Now I only use the single Palomar for mono. I am thinking is was the knot; maybe it wasn't compatible, since I've been tying the same Palomar for years. No problems with Mono, nor braid, although I tie a double Palomar with braid now, due to slippage.
  9. I've seen a lot of people repainting their hardbaits. I got to admit, I am very impressed and would buy one of those off the shelf just as quick, if not quicker than the ones already out there. But I would like to know, aside from having a keen eye, how do y'all do it? For example, is there a special paint or paints for this? I'd like to repaint my Tru-Tungsten swimbait, and would like to do so in a similar manner. Thanks.....
  10. Hahaha that's hilarious
  11. Wow man... I guess I am blessed to have Florida's all year bass fishing season. That's harsh(13 degrees!?) couldn't imagine such conditions. Thanks for the input!
  12. Well, went fishing today for about an hour. Fished from a dock, casting to and fishing in about 6-8 feet of water with a lipless crankbait. Caught 3 in short order by ripping it and letting it flutter. One was about 3 pounds, the other a 2 and the first one I caught wasn't even a pound. Had fun, as this is one of my favorite techniques this time of year. So it turned out to still be good like y'all said, the water was warmer than the air. Wonder how long that'll last....
  13. Are you a bank fisherman? If so, then I am too. One thing that I'd do before I go: Check out Google Maps. Type in the name of the lake, it's most likely going to find it for you. Then, look around the shores of the lake for decent looking areas. There's a couple different ways to see it, with features such as satellite and earth. They can allow you to see it in a real view. If the water is clear, then you can sometimes see points, sandbars, shoreline cover and all kinds of other "fishy" things. You'll also be able to see areas that you can access from the shore.
  14. Yeah, you don't really have to remove that pin, nor the shields on the bearings. I had the Black Max a while back, never a problem with those particular areas. The line guide pawl and roller clutch bearing failed before the spool shaft bearing, so maintain those parts a little more.
  15. Okay, had no idea where to post this question. It's not a post fishing trip report, but actually a pre-fishing one. Today and tomorrow are going to be the "coldest" days so far in Central Florida. Probably all of Florida, with lows in the low 30s. Well, is anyone fishing during this cold front? I might go fish today, but I'd like to know if anyone else is LOL. And what the heck do any of you Floridians do during these "cold" fronts? Peace....
  16. I've had both. They're kinda hard to compare/contrast, I mean both of them are good for the money. Great drags, instant anti reverse, super smooth. Personally, I liked the Mitchell better. Experiences? My Sedona got thrashed up from saltwater use, and I threw the Mitchell in a lake p.s. I wasn't mad at the performance of the Mitchell, I regretted it.
  17. 1. Zoom Super Fluke jr. 2. Yum Dinger 3. Zara spook
  18. LOL perhaps. Bought it once, a copolymer line from P-Line. Set the hook, line breaks. Repeat. Frustrated. The End.
  19. P-line is garbage.
  20. Handle facing down rather than up? Not going to work if it's what I am thinking. You won't be able to control the cast and the line, since it's upside down and you can't stop/slow it down with your thumb. Therefore, you'll get rat's nest and all that. It just takes some getting used to, that's all.
  21. Whoaaaaa...no way, haven't heard of it. Sounds very interesting though.
  22. Zoom Super Flukes and Gambler's Flapp'n shad....that's what I like.
  23. St.Croix "Mojo" rods are technique specific, so you should be able to find one to match your needs. I'd get one of those, especially since they aren't too pricey.
  24. Had a dream that bass were spawning everywhere. It was mayhem.
