  1. remind me not to fish around you till i'm done having kids!
  2. didn't buy mine yet but doing the research now. just came across the best video i've seen explaining down imaging vs side imaging. i've seen posts saying s.i. is a no-brainer if you can afford the upgrade. maybe it will help with ur decision. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9tdYT3i9ip8&list=FLGxyInFcUX6_t7ZmKLevUUQ&feature=mh_lolz
  3. great photo francho. who snapped the pix the fish?!
  4. i fish both. canoe's are more stable, have more room to stretch arms/legs/back, and you can spread ur gear everywhere, fit coolers with lunch, can take a buddy out, have option to add a trolling motor for bigger bodies of water, has oar locks so i can paddle easily (like a row boat). the wind blows my canoe a lot more b/c the sides are higher so i need a slightly heavier anchor. if given the choice i would fish my canoe exclusively (i cant fit it into my apartment so i had to buy a kayak that would fit up the stairwell). i like the canoe for full day fishing trips. i can stand up to fish, stretch, or take a nap...i never need to go to shore. my sit in kayak is more close quarters, solo use, paddles faster, better for tight or shallow streams with rocks/obstacles. the kayak is great for half day/quick fishing trips. i can't stand up in mine so i usually paddle to shore during the day to stretch and eat lunch. both are same load on/off my car. if you want to take a buddy sometimes get a canoe. anythings from dicks or sports author is fine for a 1st canoe. also check ur local craigslist for 'radisson' or 'sportspal' canoes. they are made for fishing, constructed from lightweight aluminum like airplanes so they are very light (but dent so no white water rafting), have oar locks for rowing, and the floors are lined with foam to buffer noises like moving around or dropping a lure. http://www.castlecraft.com/sportspal_wide_transom_canoe.htm good luck and let us know how you make out.
  5. things get scary when you're trying to make extra long fly casts when learning b/c the fly comes so close to ur face. and when u have a buddy that doesn't pay attention! the best piece of advice i can give is get a pair of sunglasses. i bought a pair immediately after a buddy did the same thing to me--his treble hook crank flying right past my face. now i don't feel safe unless i have my sunglasses on. and when dusk sets in i switch to clear construction glasses b/c i'm on the water well into dark----had a few close calls
  6. x2. its more about location for me. if i'm deep in the woods or in my kayak/canoe i like shorter 6 6" rods b/c they are easier to manage. and i can cast them darn near as far as my longer 7'6" rods.
  7. b/c it makes one rod multi-functional which is exact question/purpose of the post. he wants to use his frog rod (w/ braid)...add a leader and use as t-rig. if you only had 12lb fluoro on the reel you would not be able to go frog fishing.
  8. we don't have those blind bass in my part of the woods
  9. sure you can do it. i use one rod for frog and c-rig. 65lb braid for froging and i tie a 12lb fluoro leader w/ c-rig. i would use straight braid if in heavy cover or stained/muddy water. if in clear water learn a connection knot ur comfortable with ie albright knot is easy with fluoro; blood knot easy w/ mono. like long mike i have braid on all my reels and love it. let us know how u like it
  10. true. what does that make is the definition of this? an uninsured driver killed a girl that was progressive customer. progressive defended the killer in court to avoid paying out on her policy. http://www.nydailyne...ticle-1.1135907 true ie "Absolutely false. Property DOES NOT have to be stolen from your houe/garage in order for homeowners to cover it."
  11. I believe he was using an analogy.

  13. i can tell you right now ur jealousy is not going to be the problem. hell hath no fury like a jealous woman. don't ever accept a friend request from an ex gf of urs unless you want to go thru months of hell till she finally admits what the problem is.
  14. you are in for a treat. when fall hits (and spring for that matter) bomb a spinnerbait /chatterbait/swimjig as far as you can 45 degrees off shore, slow steady reel/vibration with occasional twitch. they will be active/roaming/gorging for winter. stay focused all the way back. its awesome when they follow it 50ft and smash it 3 ft from shore.
  15. you've already done the hard part and located a great holding spot. flip away and experiment. black/brown. green/brown. if there isn't alot of pressure they will eat about anything you toss at them
  16. did you see the pix on the hook removal posts? helps alot http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12981-how-do-i-remove-a-hook-a-bass-has-swallowed/page__st__15
  17. x2 you have to say it was stolen from ur house property ie not at the lake. I know kids in college who had laptops, electronics, gaming systems etc stolen out of their dorm. their parents said it happened at home/garage/on their property etc and their policy covered them. I don't own a home so i buy renters insurance from my auto company for the same reason. its $65 a year for $10K of coverage and I get a multi policy discount of $65 so its free.
  18. welcome to the site. this post made me laugh out loud. thank you. i imagine you'll get a much better response and plenty of help if you offer more information. fill out ur profile so people know what state you live it? lakes close to ur home? how far are you willing to travel? btw i laughed b/c there was so little info provided that my mind filled in the blanks on its own and transitioned 'walleye' into a lost girl or valentine you've been searching for.
  19. i lost a 3-4lb my self on saturday. and i let him have it for a good 3+seconds. i actually just saw a video where the guy recommends its better to let the fish have the frog for 20seconds and spit it than loosing 20+fish b/c of setting too early. i'm going to roll with that theory for awhile and wait for them to turn their head and dive a few feet before setting. even free spool the reel to let them take some line. especially when there is lots of salad/muck on the top of water. you'll notice frog fishing is MUCH easier in clean water and when the bite is aggressive
  20. did you throw'm back or throw'm on the grill?
  21. nice fish!!!
  22. "the electric chicken". a white/chartreuse swimjig with a 4" pink swimbait w/ yellow belly. i can't tell you how many fish i've caught on it in spring and fall when they didn't want the vibration/flash of a spinnerbait. i figured if trout like neon pink or green why not try it on bass. it worked awesome but i could not duplicate the success with pink senkos
  23. His technique is to reel up slack while the fish is swimming at you. You don't sweep the rod until the fish turns his head/direction. At that point you need much less pressure to set the hook. It works for alot of lures other than heavy jigs. i use the sweep hook sets for lots of techniques and don't have to dodge near as many lures flying 100mph at my face
