  1. Goose, no it was from hookless.com. The only one he has left now is a $575 24kt gold plated one. Check out etsy, there's a C with no IAR listed in very nice shape.
  2. N.I.B. Abu 2500CI, a half dozen Super Spook Jr.s, a dozen Bomber Badonk-a-Donks Bomber had on clearance on their site, a bunch or the new C Pro series Mirrodines, a half a dozen Sam Griffin custom Lil' Richards and a Streamlight Scorpion XC tactical flashlight.
  3. I thought the grip on my LTB was short! Soon the manufacturers will be selling rods with no grips and proclaiming the wonders of total sensitivity. Wonder how many millions they saved by avoiding the use of 1.5" of foam on each rod they made?
  4. Anyone have any time on the water with this newer series of reels? How are you finding its performance? Especially interested in the durability of its finish.
  5. NBC only shows old episodes, or at least did last season. No episodes have aired in quite awhile on that channel. Got to see a few episodes during a free month of WFN. They showed the same episode the entire month, Porgy fishing with his new sponsor South Bends out of the package combos. Gave me a taste that the show might have changed some, hope not.
  6. Keep an eye out for a 1500/1600c or a 2500/2600c. They still make them new in Sweden for the Japanese market and they turn up on Ebay all the time. I have just gotten my second 2500c n.i.b. They are capable of throwing down to 3/16 and 1/8oz. With appropriate line and rod. I use them to play with baby tarpon throwing yo zuri pins minnow jerkbaits and baby flukes.
  7. I dont know where a new record will come from and actually hope it never gets broken. If it does though, I hope some old timer in over-alls using a old outfit and a no name lure catches it in a out of the way hole. Only he would be smart enough not to blab its location.
  8. Ive got the same outfit, its a dream. Over the counter warranty was a breeze the one time I broke 6" off the tip by my error.
  9. Heck those Abu's aint old, I fish with 4500c and 2500c's every day. That Summit is mighty fine, looks like a receiver on an old shotgun.

    Anything from Strike King
  11. Remember even dry, they are not actually lube free straight from the distributor. Boca's ceramics have a dry lube put in at the time they are made. Its not really compatabile with wet lubes the consumer uses and very hard to remove from the bearing unless you dismantle them. Not something I'm willing to do with my old eyes. You can request unlubed bearings from Boca I understand.
  12. I think it depends on where you fish. There isnt really much difference between summer and winter here. Shad don't exist here either. Color to me is dictated by water type and conditions not season. Clear, tannic, muddy etc.
  13. Now that we are finally out of the high 90's its gotten very windy. The jon boat goes crazy, the kayak is flat out miserable to control. Ive started using a brush grabber and putting the yaks bow into the shoreline so I can cast parrellel to the shoreline cover. No so successful but less stressfull. Ive started to change pans and catfish during windy days. Hey James 14, hows Lake Manatee been lately?
  14. Please.... 25 years as a cop, easily a couple dozen stolen mail reports. USPS is not interested, never will be. For the law enforcement arm of the postmaster generals office to get involved it has to be an organized crime type deal. Big money, a continued effort to defraud. They will tell you contact the local police. Not much effort is put into that, cant be, just a simple report. Especially if his area is dealing with post storm emergency services. Consider the fact you have insurance to fall back on. Cut your losses, unfortunately for him that means he lost the luck of the draw. You have made a concerted effort on the forum to save face. Dont worry so much about a potential hit to your forum reputation. As you can see from the grand majority of the posts, your seen in a good light and you've learned a lesson.
  15. The cop in me says lame story, too many holes.... His insurance will not cover it, everyones deductible is several hundred if not a thousand. UPS says they delivered it but the buyer says alledgedly the "big storm" took it? As insurance would say, Act of God. Funny Charlie hit here ground zero as a Cat 4 and my door mat never moved. A less than Cat. 1 hits a couple states away and a package flew away?
  16. Yup the 20 size, unless the Veritas you have decided on is a med. hvy., then a 30 would balance it better.
  17. Yes its quality, but I think I'd look for something even smaller for Bream and Specks. I'd call a 1000 a light not ultralight reel.
  18. Great pic, classics all round.
  19. Sebile Ghost Walker. Dalton Special prop bait.
  20. It depends on the reel and how easy it is to reach the bearings. Spinning reels get Phil's Tenacious Oil. Classic Abu's get Rocket Fuel Yellow since they are so each to re-oil in the field. More complicated casting reels get Inox.
  21. Conquered without a shot. All they needed was a walmart in every town.
  22. According to their site, the only listed spinning reel is 30% off on CLOSEOUT. Sounds like they wont be offering it anymore, I'd call them and checkout what the deal is before you jump on one. Maybe something better is coming or they are slimming down their product line.
  23. Yup, a great caster it could throw a 1/4oz a mile but you just never knew if the levelwind would engage after the cast.
  24. Removed from the market quickly after coming out because of a couple of flaws in design. Had to do with the levelwind and clutch. Abu sent me a Pro Max in exchange. The design continued for a few years as the Eon Pro, a very expensive reel for the JDM.
  25. Casting aside, what about fighting a fish. Baitcasters are mechanically superior they say, more power or torque. But what about the way you hold the reel. The biggest fish I've caught were on spinning gear, the rods butt under my forearm, the rod melded like an extension of my arm. With a casting reel you either fight the fish with your hand still palming the reel or have to change your grip to the foregrip (something rods no longer have) or to the trigger. Neither way would I have had the comfort or power to fight really big fish like I do with a spinning reel.
