Same here, I loved flipping rocks and catching them when I was a kid. I still hunt them down from time to time when the bite gets tough on the Upper James River.

I'm in VA and I've been having the most luck trolling the deep sections of small ponds with minnow colored jerkbaits and throwing dark green colored plastics around structure. Where are you fishing auburn5?

Raw almonds and granola bars. Stuff I can eat with one hand that isn't messy. You don't want to get cheese puff powder all over your reel.

Thanks, caught a few decent ones nothing huge. This was my first year winter crappie fishing, used to just hang up the rods for winter.

Was looking at heading out to Powhatan Lakes soon myself. Interested to hear your experience.

Had pretty good luck trolling a deep diving pointer sp (ghost minnow color) this winter in central VA. Caught alot of Crappie and a few LMB trolling the deeper sections of ponds.

Hello everyone, First off I'd like to say I like this site and have already found alot of good info in the forums. I'm from Richmond, VA looking to fish some new places this year. I fish the James river mostly and a few ponds in the surrounding counties. I'd say my favorite setup is a plastic lizard on a texas rig.

Had a few good days trolling for crappie, went fishing on the Mattaponi and caught some small cats but no bass.
