  1. I own all Powell rods and I love them. BassClary did a nice job!! I'm going to order a Diesel next week just to see how they stack up to my Endurances and Maxs. To me Powell is quality, sensitive, lightweight and priced very well.
  2. It's the flock trait that the general public has now a days. Take Toyota for instance no matter what they do or the what problems they have people are diehard defenders of them. I've owned a Toyota and still own a Shimano, the Toyota was nice but I feel it wasn't the best in its class. As far as Shimano, they make nice stuff (I own a Core 50,) but they also make products that are not the best in class. Fish the best that you can afford and what feels comfortable to you. It's a great time to be a consumer in the bass fishing hobby. There are some great quality buys at many different price points these days, not just Shimano.
  3. 4/0 most of the time. I'm now pretty much using Owner anymore.
  4. T-Rigged Senko, Craw or Fat Ika worked slowly on the bottom may be your ticket. The summer can be tough at times, but patience on your presentations should pay off.
  5. I would message DVT (Deleware Valley Tackle.) He's a very well respected member that maintains and repairs reels.
  6. I agree with Dwight and Marty. Outside of my family, I have to want to fish with and enjoy being around the person. Without those 2 traits it what's the point of bringing the person with you.
  7. RIP Homer and may his family find peace and closure quickly.
  8. Lipless: Spro Aruku Shads, SK RES Squarebill: RC LC 1.5, KVD 1.5
  9. Spend some time in our library, "Fishing Articles" at the top of the page. The first thing I would note is the the ""where" is far more important than the "what". Find the fish and almost anything will work even when your selection might not be "the best" for the situation. Generally, fish will either be focused on "bottom baits" or "moving baits". If you can find the fish, throw nothing but a Senko and a Redeye Shad and you will catch some bass! \ X2 ,Learn what structure and cover are. If you already know what they are, hammer both and you will find bass. I recommend Keeping it Simple. Senkos: Black/Blue flake for stained to dark water and Green Pumpkin for clear to slightly stained water RES: Sexy Shad/Bluegill for clear to slightly stained water and Chartruese for stained to muddy water
  10. Swim Jig: Keitech Swing Impact, RT Craw, RT Space Monkey Football: RT Craw, RT Lobster, RT Space Monkey
  11. I have that Powell Rod and Love it!! Light, Sensitive, Quality components. Couldn't ask for more out of that rod.
  12. Just to clear the confusion regarding the buying guide. There will be NO opinions or reviews for any models in it. It's just pricing and specs. That way people can look, compare and price range what they want w/o any bias or influence. Besides once they narrow down what they want they can ask questions or search it out on the forum. Hope this clears up some confusion.
  13. Don't get me wrong I love my Pro-Q'S too. I still believe in the $100 +/- market they're hard to beat. If I hadn't received the Core as a gift I probably wouldn't own one.
  14. I'm taking notes, so continue with the input. Right now I'm using your suggestion RW for the spreadsheet and modifying it. As far as a set up guide or starters guide, I'm going to make one as a seperate pdf. It seems as though I'm getting a strong response for a beginners guide. Using our website I could put that together using a combination of BR articles. My question now is which do you guys prefer first, the beginnners guide or the buying guide? I have no problem creating both for our membership, but I can only do one at a time.
  15. No apologies needed. I should have been more clear from the start.
  16. RW I have owned and used BPS Pro Q's, Revo's and now a Core 50. I have to say that I will buying more Core's in the future. That reel just blows me away ever time that I use it.
  17. No offense taken Jigfishn10!! Discussion is good and the context of my OP was not meant to be negative in any way. I like many others have been fortunate to become a better fisherman because of people like you guys. The plan I had in mind wasn't going to have any reviews what so ever. Just a straight listing of specs, models and pricing. I appreciate any and all input that you guys have, for or against, positive or negative.
  18. I have been lurking this site for years before I became a member and a lot of the same questions appear year after year. So I would like to put together a buying guide including things such as Rods, Reels and Tackle to make it easier for our membership to make informed buying choices. I'm leaning towards making this available online in a pdf document. Just looking for input as to what you guys and gals would want to see in this idea.
  19. In the 80-100 dollar range the BPS Pro Qualifier is hard to beat. It's based off the Revo platform as are the Lew's reels.
  20. My theory is similar to what others have stated. Some bass forage have Chartreuse type colors in them so that I believe is one factor. Like others have stated visibility is another. Chartreuse is bright and eye catching so to speak. In all water clarities I have found Blue Back Chartreuse to run neck and neck with bluegill as far as crankbaits catching goes. Chartreuse grubs always catch smallmouth for me. Another example is the black/chartreuse flake senko, throw it wherever you would throw a black/blue flake one. That senko color always produces for me when the bass want something slow.
  21. X2 What's your budget for the new combo? If we know your budget it will narrow down a more specific rod/reel.
  22. Ragetail Space Monkey. I can cover the entire water column with it and rig it many ways.
  23. It's refreshing to see a company not run and hide when there's an issue. I give Mark alot of credit and respect for coming on here. As far as I'm concerned Peggy and Big O are top notch as well. Obviously SK (Mark/Peggy) & RT (Big O) are very passionate about the SK product and us as consumers. Mistakes and defects happen in all industries. It's how a company chooses to deal with them that seperates great companies from the average ones.
  24. 7' for me. I fish from the banks 95% of the time and never had an issue.
