  1. I fish spinnerbaits and buzzbaits all through the summer and into the fall I just start using them in early spring.
  2. Does anybody else like to fish spinnerbaits and/or buzzbaits in the spring? Also I was wondering which colors seem more effective.
  3. When im fishing for channel cats and one starts running, I will run over anything to get to the pole and set the hook. If I catch a big bass me and my friends look at it for a minute or two and I am really happy. I get and even bigger reaction when I catch a fish on baits and lures I make myself.
  4. I may not be right but it may be a largemouth smallmouth hybrid. It has the stripe but the mouth is small for a largemouth.
  5. Try using spinners or something that will get the bass' attention. Try frog top waters. They work pretty good.
  6. I was fishing for channel cats in one of the ponds and they werent biting at all. I put a smaller hook on and tryed little pieces of hotdog hoping it would work. It turns out in 1 hour I brought in 26 bluegill and a couple bass. Try this next time you're bluegill fishing it works great.
  7. I found out using a small peice of hot dog works great. Gets a fish within 5 seconds of hitting the water. I found this when I was fishing for catfish with hotdog and they weren't biting.
  8. Me and a friend tried the neighborhood beach on the lake. We saw some bass swimming through and a monster was with them. We got him on a little jig that I jerked around a bit and he hit it hard. Yes I think we will stick to the lake and the pond with lots of bass.
  9. The ponds are about an acre and yes I did fish the one for 8 hours. I packed a couple of sandwiches and a bottle of water and was there from 10AM to 6PM. Only caught one bass the whole time and I caught too many bluegill.
  10. So Ive been fishing in two ponds by my house for a few weeks for bass. One pond I fished for eight hours and only got one bass. The other pond I fished for 15 minutes and got two bass right away. Ive fished at the first pond for a few years buy started on the new one today. Also in the second pond there are bass everywhere and in the first one all you see is bluegill. They are both stocked with the same amount of fish at the same time too. I dont know whats going on please help.
  11. If they are nesting you wont have muck luck getting them to bite. The best thing to do is try for something else like crappie or catfish instead untill they are done nesting.
  12. I love to fish for bluegill and sunfish. I know lots of ways to catch them but I was wondering if someone could post some other great ways to catch them in small ponds. Mostly when I catch them I use worms, small spinners and inch long crank baits.
  13. Ive only caught about 30 bass in the 2 years ive been fishing there. They are all I sware the same fish. They are all the same size and weight. I dont know how to get more and bigger ones.
  14. These bass are all about 14 inches and maybe a pound and a half. The thing is the ones I do catch are on these larger lures that even big bluegill hit on. I also catch a lot on little spinners. The bass are the only fish that are really small. I also fish for catfish and they are all at least 8 pounds or more and about 30 inches in length. The bluegill are about 14 inches and about a pound.
  15. I fish in my neighborhood ponds for about 6 hours every Saturday. It's strange because using crank baits and large top waters, all I catch is big bluegill. Usually the whole time I only catch two bass. They stock it every summer with lots of bass and I dont understand why the bass won't bite. Someone please tell me how to catch more bass. Thanks for all the responses. I dont know if I can contact the fish and game to be able to remove some bluegill because it is catch and release fishing only. Id put the ones I catch in a bucket and use them for catfish bait.
  16. Bass and panfish are almost always together. They usually hang out in in weedy areas where the minnows are.
