  1. Easy for me too. Green Pumpkin Black Blue Everything else I've got is a variation of those... A little added chart or blue, solid black or a little red added.
  2. I'm lefty but actually cast left and reel right - so I use righty reels. Just lucky I guess. No switch. Being that I fish banks a lot and there are a lot of trees around here, I've gotta use a sidearm cast a good amount. For whatever reason I am much better at an underhand cast than a backhand cast with my left, so I'm gonna start learning how to cast with my right, so I don't have to turn my entire body. Just switch hands depending on where I'm casting - that's the goal anyways.
  3. Let us know how it goes, there may be a few more tricks you could try.
  4. May just be way too much oil or gunk inside it. I've had similar issues with a cheaper baitcaster before and could never get it dialed in too well, had to rely on thumbing too much and it led to very short casts. The silver max is a much higher quality reel than that though. Don't want to turn this into a reel thread but the one thing that helped was getting a new baitcaster. If you're looking for something better, when you do, you should seriously check out the bass pro shops pro qualifier. It's $100 and is by far the best reel at that price point. They have deals like four times a year as well and I believe its knocked down to $80.
  5. I've gotta agree with unionman. I love everything about my mojo. The only flaw is the scratch that I put on it because I'm a moron and got mad while holding a knife. A lot of fishing is about confidence. If you pick up a rod you're excited about, you give it a better chance. You'll fish it longer and harder. If you pick up a rod you don't have so much confidence in, you'll fish it faster and be quicker to dismiss it. I have not touched a Veritas but I can vouch that the Mojo, Carbonlite and even the old Vendetta are good rods. I have not touched the newer Vendetta. You've gotta pick one up to determine it.
  6. Berkley bottom hoppers. Basically a zoom trick but a little softer. The expanded tail floats. Really nice action.
  7. I once caught a bass that had a pegged weight and 5/0 EWG hook through its lip, with a worm that appeared brand new rigged on it. It's also how I was introduced to braid (that's what was tied onto the hook). This bass was massive, must have run the line around something and the fisherman gave up and cut the line. My buddy snagged a live target frog and gave it to me. Appeared almost brand new. I was fan casting with a squarebill one day and all of a sudden felt a ton of drag, so I semi set the hook not knowing what it was. It was the crank that I had lost the day before. A turtle under its arm.
  8. I've also got a Mojo and love it. It's very comfortable. I have never once stopped fishing and thought "Man, this thing is tip heavy." I also have a Carbonlite and I'm not nearly as big a fan of it. Completely different feel. It's all preference. I have a Vendetta MH that I loved, purchased a Carbonlite MH that was going to replace it, but I ended up liking the Vendetta more anyways so I've just got one spooled up with mono and the other with braid. Two applications. My M Mojo just trounces both in my opinion, more sensitive and more comfortable.
  9. I'd try a small spinnerbait with a trailer hook. Just cover as much water as possible, if you see action, then slow it down in that area with whatever your favorite choice may be. Or keep throwing the spinnerbait, your call. If you don't run across any action, toss a nice long worm with a lot of tail action, shakey head. I'd prefer a 6" Berkley Bottom Hopper. If you fish slow enough, you will catch something. I fish a couple ponds that only have 1-2lbs and they prefer smaller plastics. In that case I switch to a 4" If you get bites on the shakeyhead but can't connect, either downsize the worm or switch the worm over to a texas rig on an EWG hook. Hooksets are easier.
  10. Im a 20 year old student living in Orlando (lifelong resident). College football and fishing the banks here is how I spend most of my time! Thanks for the insight yall have already given me! GO KNIGHTS!
  11. 1. 4-5 rods & tackle bag 2. inside trunk of car 3. n/a 4. 1... 5. no
  12. When and how do you guys prefer to use them? I've always been a worm and craw kinda guy, just now branching into creature baits. Was at dicks and saw these in a green pumpkin blue flash and liked what I saw. Thanks for any help!
  13. I've tried rage and I didn't catch anymore than I would have with another brand. I have some rage tails and worms that ill try on a new body of water eventually, but they don't work any better than my current favorites. Price doesn't justify it for me.
  14. I release everything. Never once thought about keeping them.
  15. Some 8" pre-rigged worm with three hooks in it, front middle and end. Had no idea how to really fish it. I threw it in the water and sat there for thirty minutes without moving my line. Saw the line move and set the hook. Good times lol.
  16. The stainless tip is definitely a big one. Bought a knife recently for braid and other purposes and it started to rust within a month... and I dry my stuff off and store it in a tackle bag. I always have a pair of pliers in my pocket. No matter how good of a fisherman you are, you will need to get a deep or bad hook out eventually. KVDs line conditioner. This stuff just plain works. Spray five times the night before, and spray your guides as well. I like to reapply just once, right after noon, on the actual day of fishing. Spike It Chart. Garlic. Not only does this stuff dye plastics Chart, but it gives them a nice scent. I believe they have other colors and scents, but this combination is my favorite. Just a little on the tail of a worm does wonders.
  17. I've become a huge fan of plastics recently too. I try my best to keep it simple with style and color but I alway see something else that catches my eye. I've wondered over to the brush hogs, pit bosses, and even beavers but I always have more success with worms and craws down here. My favorite worm is by far the Berkley Bottom Hopper. Standard is 6" (I think) and they have a JR which is smaller. Green Pumpkin in standard conditions, Black/Blue in muddy water or low light and I like Plum when the sun is really high. Really pops, especially with some Chart spike it on the tail. When I want a little more action I go to the Berkley Juice Worm. Nice 6-7" worm with a ribbon tail. Same rule for colors. I absolutely love the Chigger Craws, even the style with "Crazy Legs" for more action. 3" is the perfect size for most lures or even a texas rig, then they step up in size to 4". I will always be on a look out for more plastics. I think I'm going to give the Yum line a run, soon.
  18. A buddy and I killed the pond behind my house last year, absolutely killed it. We used them so much that I haven't gotten a bite on one in over 8 months, LOL. The bass have learned better. The chart and red/white worked wonders for us. Bottom line is they work. I never even got fancy with them, just used the standard twin tails they came with.
  19. Here in Orlando if I leave plastics out in the summer, they can get nasty. One day out can actually do them some good, softens them up a little and all is good. Any more extended time and I have noticed a residue builds up and some start to lose shape, I'd imagine that they started to melt. Everything else I wouldn't be afraid of leaving outside. By out I mean in the garage.
  20. I've always just used Hot Sauce. Appears I may have some new lubes to try out.
