  1. I use both religiously. The crazy legs are just good for days when you want a longer presentation, or a little more movement. Doesn't make a ton of a difference, but we all know how a subtle change can turn the bite on.
  2. Welcome! A lot of guys from your area on the board, myself included.
  3. Worms: Berkley Havoc Bottom Hoppers (trick worms) and Berkley Havoc Juice Worms (ribbontail) Craws: Berkley Powerbait Chigger Craw Swimbaits: Berkley Havoc Subwoofer (moves a ton of water) See a trend? lol. The only other brands I consistently use are Zoom for flukes and tubes and Yum for stick baits.
  4. The Dicks near me in Orlando carries it - as well as some of their buzzbaits. Unless you've spoken to the employee or even manager, I wouldn't go by what they say in regards to stock. I've been to five DSG in my life and not one had a knowledgeable member in the fishing dept. I've been pointed towards Berkley Vanish when asking about their favorite mono, I've been pointed to crankbaits when asking where their jitterbugs are and I've been handed Reel Butter when asking about scents. The most knowledgeable person I've run across was a guy working the golf section - had a discussion with him about his favorite froggin spots. Of course, this is just one regional sample, but I'm not impressed with their staff. Love the inventory and stores though.
  5. Agreed. My buddy and I fish all the time, we will even communicate and try to fish the same way sometimes if one is on the bite; doesnt always make a difference. It can be as little as the cast, a weight being pegged or the tip of the rod. Central Florida has the best fishing around!
  6. I can vouch for two reels that are of great quality. The PQ and Johnny Morris Signature Series 2. The PQ ($100) is a great entry level reel. Very low profile, great drag, good castability and a good dual braking system. Its a very smooth reliable reel. I had two for over two seasons each and they held up great, one was even dunked in the water twice. The Johnny Morris Signatue Series 2 ($160) is an amazing reel for the price. Its offers everything the PQ does, except a better drag and braking system, smoother and a set of very comfortable grips. It casts like a dream. The reel is a little bigger than your standard low profile. I love using their reels not only because of the quality, but their return program is awesome. Starts getting gritty? (had one PQ do that but it was my first and not properly cared for) They will exchange it NO QUESTIONS ASKED. I'm sure that policy is the standard, I know their rod policy is the same. That being said, if you're willing to spend a little more, I'm starting to love my Lews Tourny Pro.
  7. Definitely agree with you on rods, but I absolutely love their reels. The PQ is a great entry level and the Johnny Morris Sig2 is an amazing reel for $160. My first baitcaster was a $60 Quantum Aura combo. It was awful. The first two fish I ever hooked on a baitcaster were whilst picking a birdsnet. Put it to the side and bought a PQ.
  8. Definitely depends on the application for me. Bottom contact, ill be spending a little more on a rod than usual. If its just cranking, flukes or topwater, I will spend a little less.
  9. Might have to check out the club sometime! I'll be pretty busy for the next couple months but I'll definitely check back.
  10. Welcome! There's several from the area on this site.
  11. The PQ has to be the best seller because of price, performance and style. I can say however, as an angler who started out with a PQ, I absolutely LOVE my Johnny Morris Sig 2s. They cast a mile, are smooth as butter, have a great drag and have plenty of power. I have two and I swear by them. Working on fizzling out all other baitcasters and switching them to Johnny Morris Sig 2s.
  12. I have two of those Johnny Morris' and I LOVE them. Not only are they smooth as butter and cast a mile, but you get the quick and easy replacements from BPS. Have an issue?? No questions asked, they will exchange your reel. I've only had to do this once with a reel and it was a PQ.
  13. If you used your BPS account, then everything is accounted for. I've replaced one broken rod, one grinding reel and even one reel I just didn't like anymore, all because they have such a great online system. They either scan your card or check with the product number (obviously you can't provide that, unfortunately). Hope you have better luck next time.
  14. First, all of this is all in a Plano Fishouflage Bass bag. It fits a ton, despite its size, with just a little tweaking. It's very light and it's what I lug around the banks when I fish. First, you'll see two things attached to side loops. One is just a plain fishing rag, the other is a Rapala braid cutter (I use it for all of my lines). When they're not in use, I store them in the little sleeves on the outside of the bag (visible on the right side). On the backside, there is another sleeve, and this is where I keep bigger stick/senko type baits. Right now I've got 2 bags stored in there. --------------------------------- In the front pocket alone, I've got nine bags of worms. Most of the bags have more worms than they should also, as I always stock up before a long day. 3 Bags of Trick Worms: Green Pumpkin / Plum / June Bug 3 Bags of Trick Worm Jrs: Green Pumpkin / Plum / June Bug 3 Bags of Ribbontail Worms: Green Pumpkin / Plum / June Bug --------------------------------- The left side pocket has four bags of craws. Two are smaller, two are bigger. Each size has a bag of green pumpkin and each size has a bag of black blue. --------------------------------- The right side pocket has 6 bags of plastics. 2 Bags of Flukes: White Pearl / Bait Fish 3 Bags of Tubes: Green Pumpkin Pepper / Smoke/Black/Red / Smoky Shiner 1 Bag of a vibrating Swimbait: Watermelon Pearl --------------------------------- Now for the inside. It comes with four 3650 boxes; I took two out and replaced them with three 3601s. The top portion of the bag currently (not in the picture) has one bottle of Yum Shad Scent spray, Spike-It Garlic and a bottle of KVD Line and Lure Conditioner. In the jig box, I've got: 9 Football Head Jigs: various colors/sizes in green pumpkin and black blue 6 Bitsy Bug Jigs: various colors in green pumpkin and black blue 3 Arky Style Jigs: various colors in green pumpkin and black blue ----------------------------------- In the topwater box, I've got: 4 Hollowbody Frogs 5 Poppers 1 Jitterbug 1 Zara Spook --------------------------- In the crank box, I've got: 3 in various natural colors and chart. (shallow) 7 in various natural colors, chart. and red (less shallow) 4 in various natural colors, chart. and red (mid-depth) 2 in Baby Bass color (shallow-mid-depth) ------------------------------ In the buzz/spinner box, I've got 8 small Spinnerbaits in whites and chart.'s 3 Larger Spinnerbaits in whites and chart.'s 2 small Buzzbaits in white and chart. 1 large Buzzbait in black -------------------------------- In the tackle box, I've got: Roundball Jigheads in black and green pumpkin (shakeyhead, rig tubes or swimbaits) Footballhead Jigheads in black and green pumpkin (shakeyhead) EWG Worm Hooks in 5/0, 4/0, 3/0, 2/0 Yum Pumpkin'Ed Jigheads in black and green pumpkin (great standup heads) Wackyhead Hooks in 2/0 Superline Swimbait w/ Lock Hooks in 3/0 Zona's Tubebait Jigheads in 2/0 Eagle Claw Shaw Grigsby HP Hooks in 2/0, 3/0 (perfect for tubes) Lead Bullet Weights in various weights Tungsten Bullet Weights in various weights Tube Rattles Glass Beads (for texas or carolina rigs) Eagle Claw Bobber Stops (perfect for pegging weights) Avoided brand names where possible. Hope I helped!
  15. I always look out for ducks at the ponds I fish - means food and clean water is near by. In my experience, the bass are never in the immediate area (fifteen-twenty ft) but they are pretty close. There is a spot in a pond I fish, where the ducks just relax in the water on good days, and it pushes the baitfish into a cove and it drives all the bass that way also. It's all about figuring those little things out.
  16. I could easily spend three hours at one. The one in Orlando is supposedly on the bigger side so that may be why... but I will go just for fishing gear and leave an hour later - easily. If I were to really look at everything I'd be there all day. Reminds me I need a new knife....
  17. I'm in the same situation as you, strictly bank fishing and and want to streamline everything. I'll help you out in a little while tonight. I've been building up what I believe is the best and lightest tackle bag setup (for me) for bank fishing over the past year. When I get a chance in an hour or two, I'll break it all down for you and take a picture or two if I feel it's needed.
  18. His videos work on dolphin browser on my android phone, IE on my desktop and they also work in chrome on my chromebook. Might need to check your settings. Pretty sure it won't work on ipads because of flash. YouTube has a built in player.
  19. By forum, I'm pretty sure he means this specific thread he started... All of these threads put together are a forum. What we're posting in right now, is a thread within a forum or message board.
  20. Berkley Powerbait Chigger Craw is hands down my favorite craw. I'm giving the rage craws a chance. but they haven't produced as well yet, if they will.
  21. I had a PQ early on and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately had to get rid of it but when I got back into it I got a johnny morris signature series 2. I've had that one for a year and another for 8 months. They've actually gotten smoother and cast further now than the day I bought them. They are GREAT reels in the $160 range. They are a little bigger than the typical low profile reel, but not by much. I then needed a third reel so I purchased a Lews Tournament MG at Dicks for $130 I believe. It was a spur of the moment purchase. I like the reel, very low profile and its smooth, but I wish I would have either bought another signature series or just bought a PQ instead.
  22. Intrigued but scared at the same time. I'm sure ill end up doing this at some point now. Lol.
  23. Lol something my dad made this summer. It holds fifteen spinning reels but the baitcasters take up a little more space. He told me he just copied the design the local sports authority uses.
