  1. Try putting some sort of tape over the threads and then screw it back on over that, just to see if it holds. If it doesn't you can always set it where you like and tape it down with tennis tape or something of the like - something to think about if you really love the rod.
  2. It's all about finding the right lakes and fishing them right. I set out around 10:00am today and fished til 1:00pm and caught anywhere from 5-7 bass, I honestly don't remember. Fish low and slow during the hottest parts of the day.
  3. Jigs. It really is a one word answer.
  4. Knightiac replied to OroBass's topic in Fishing Tackle
Theyre small but legit jigs. Their skirts are cheap but they look great in the water - hell the jig is only $1.99 in most places. When I am using football head jigs, I use Strike King Tourney Grades and Siebert for everything else. When I want a smaller jig the bitsys are my go to.
  5. Usually if I'm out on the water and there's a slight breeze, I won't even sweat when I'm wearing my Columbia PFG's and that's in the hot Orlando weather... There's a little tackle shop down in Key West called Key West Bait and Tackle and they got me hooked on OHO. Old Harbor Outfitters. Their shirts are good stuff, a little thicker than the PFGs but breath more. They have an website that y'all might want to check out. This tackle shop just switched to a new brand called TASC and I have one of these shirts in my possession but have yet to wear it out yet. Feels more like the PFGs.
  6. You're starting with the best - you won't want to use other jigs after you fish his!
  7. Gamakatsu Ewg worm hook for sure. Every once in a while I will fish a worm on a Trokar TK190 and love it. The TK190's are best for creatures or tubes though.
  8. Definitely something big and dark. Probably a black/blue jig with a big water-moving craw like a rage or chigger.
  9. I mainly use round ball jig heads by strike king. They don't have a corkscrew baitholder but they keep the bait in place and you can catch several fish before needing to replace.
  10. Sounds like they just catch the fisherman although it might make night fishing easier cause you can spot your bait...
  11. I've had both and I'd say the vengeance - hands down. The lightning rod has an odd tip, almost seems moderate.
  12. Whatever the fish want that day. Try yo-yoing, straight retrieve, dead sticking, pauses and you can even bounce them off the bottom. They are great for bouncing off of cover and the like, that's usually when I get bites with mine. I don't use mine nearly enough, I usually bring them out when the fishing is tough and I need to go super realistic, but I could probably use them much more. When I use prerigged, it's always the storm wildeye shad.
  13. Sufix Elite is my all time favorite for baitcasters. For spinning reels, I like Trilene XL Smooth Casting.
  14. Honestly, if it were me and I was on a bite, I would get very mad. I would probably cast uncomfortably close to their boat until they get the point. Regardless, I am always on the bank and I only fish private neighborhood ponds at this point. I fish for relaxation and usually that involves quiet and being by myself or a buddy.
  15. Echoing what others are saying... Both have their own time and place. I find myself wanting to use football more but use whichever is needed.
  16. Are you talking about storing it and keeping it in your boat? Or getting it out of your boat and storing it? If you are trying to keep it in your boat, I'd grab one of the soft tackle bags that Plano sells. They have several outside compartments and one big one in the middle. You'd be able to keep a ton of odds and ends in there.
  17. I purchased three of his Big O Brush jigs a couple weeks back and could not be happier - they are beautiful. I finally got out to test them last Saturday and loved them. He does not skimp on material at all, a long FULL weedguard, fantastic hook and the skirt was very long, all allowing for customization. After cutting the weedguard and skirt down like I like, I was ready to go. That right there is the devil craw with sapphire blue head. Long story short, my wallet is going to be a lot lighter next week. Thanks Mike!
  18. Tim Kelly, The eye is inside the tube on that rig. I did not bend the hook outward at all, I just hold up the tube to the hook before rigging it and see where I need to go through the tube, works perfect every time. Like I said, on bigger ones try inserting the hook a little closer to the outside (not exactly in the middle) if you have an issue. TTS, That hook in the picture is a Trokar TK-190 size 2/0. I am a bad judge when it comes to the sizes of these hooks, but I just came back from BPS with a pack of 3/0 and 4/0 and made sure. The tube is a 3 1/2" Tender Tube made by BPS. I like the slender body style more than traditional tubes.
  19. Flouro is just a different monster. On the spool, it reacts like a thicker stiffer mono would. It took me some time to get used to it but I love it now. Just tighten the brakes down and have at it. I am to the point where I hardly use brakes and rely on my thumb.
  20. I just read your OP again and I understand your thinking. I believe it could be because I use a smaller tube. Pictured is a bass pro shops 3 1/2" tender tube, if you are using a thicker tube it may create problems rigging it that way. Try putting the hook not through the middle, but an 1/8" or 1/16" from the middle and see how it rigs - I think you should be able to line it up straight. I never have an issue and I use bigger tubes every once in a while.
  21. I usually skin hook the outside, it appears it came out a little bit when I took the picture. To be honest, I can't remember at the moment but I believe the eye is inside the tube. When I get home I will try and double check.
