My wife gifted me a gopro hero for Xmas. Cool little piece of tech. So many applications for it. Especially for bass fishing. I made my first short video just the other day of me fishing in the Everglades. You have to be patient and look through the video until you find the clips you want and then familiarize yourself with the editing software. If I can do it, anyone can do it... lol. Have fun and enjoy your new toy.
  4. Roger, I was fortunate to fish Lake Kissimee this past October and its a special lake indeed. When I was there I saw 3 bald eagles. A set of parents and younger Eagle which I guess they were showing it the ropes sort of speak. When Eagles are locked in mid air spiraling towards the earth, they usually having a battle about something. First eagle to let go loses. Sometimes both eagles lose and they both hit the ground to their deaths. That's awesome that you live 25 min away. We stayed over at Grape Hammock. The pictures of the bass posted on the wall at the camp office left my jaw open. LOL...
  5. Great video..... I wonder how upset he would be if he realized he forgot the replacement bulb in his truck??
  6. Get yourself some 12lb yozuri hybrid, if you are going to be jigging more than you think then get 15lb. Problem solved.
  7. That will work, and if the knot is tied correctly it should not be slipping in the first place.
  8. You can take all the antibiotics you want, its not going to ward off the flu any faster. The flu is a virus. So unless you can get your hands on an anti-viral, antibiotics will not help because they ward off bacteria's. Just my .02
  9. Tough break, I hate it when that happens. That fish would have definitely made a difference.
  10. The tournament MG for me was a sleeper reel. Over time this reel really grew on me. I have had it for more than 3 years now, it has caught me plenty of nice bass, and its smoother now than when I first bought it. I would highly recommend this reel for a starter reel or for your main arsenal. It will not disappoint.
  11. I have had St.Croix's rods for quite sometime now. Premiere's, Rage, Avid, and LTB's. From all 4 mentioned, the rods that I have had the worst luck with is the RAGE series. I have had to replace 2 of them. One, I will admit was my fault. Broke the rod tip. I replaced the rod right away because I really enjoyed it. This rod served as my main frogging rod for a while and it caught me loads of bass until the adhesive around the reel seat became undone. It rendered the rod unusable. The rod was less than 2 yrs old at the time and I was having reel seat issues already? So I decided to utilize St. Croix's upgrade program and I bought a LTB. Never looked back. Currently, out of my 5 baitcasting outfits. 3 are St. Croix's. 2 LTB's and an Avid. These great rods. Tough as nails, quality is great, and are very durable.
  12. Topwater bite is pretty good for us down here almost year round or until we get consistent cold weather. Then it may shut down for a little while. But since that hasn't happen yet, fish away....
  13. The glades is a special place, no doubt.
  14. In one of outings in the glades alone, I had dense fog on the water, required running lights. Then the fog cleared and the sun came out and it was hot!! Then the clouds came back and I had a 40min run in back to the ramp in hard rain. That hurts!! LOL!!
  15. Bridge currents are extremely dangerous. To the OP if you really don't know what your doing you can find yourself in an extremely dangerous situation real quick. Some areas are not ideal if its your first time on a yak.
  16. LOL... yeah 82 degrees and no wind does get kind of balmy...
  17. No that is not legal. Consult with FWC and/or your HOA before you do that.
  18. Went fishing out to the glades yesterday. Overall fishing was slow, although there was tons of activity. During the outing I decided to switch tactics and fish with a mouse. Fortunately, that bait landed the biggest fish of the day. 18.25" bass.
  19. There are many places to buy shrimp on your way down to the keys. If you have never kayak'd in the keys, you have to be aware of the currents. They can pretty strong. If you have never been down this way before. I would look into a partyboat charter. They are cheaper than you think, they will get you on fish, and you walk away with your catch or give to them either way. Some restaurants will actually prepare your catch for you for dinner. Congratulations, and good luck.
  20. Laser: graphite composite frame Tournament MG: aluminum frame
  21. Nah... since i got kicked out, i will not argue with law enforcement. With my luck i will be ticketed or fined next time... lol
  22. The one on my avatar pic was caught in a retention pond off the turnpike. Shortly after that pic was taken FHP kicked me out. That was an awesome outing. I pass by that pond a couple times a month looking at spot i caught it at every time... lol!!
  23. I have two of the HG's. They are really good reels. Palm well, very strong drag, on the light side. Very simple to use. I set two of the brakes and I have forgotten about them ever since. Both reels have braid, and they can cast pretty dang far with the right bait. To give you an example, one of my outfits is strictly used for frog fishing in the Everglades. I have it on a Dobyns champion 736. I can launch a medium LT Koppers hollow body frog with 50lb braid for 45+ yards. Throw in a pair of HawgTech's with swept handles, and you have yourself a pretty good reel for under $180 if you know where to look. I got both of mine for $150. The only con, and its not really a con just a maintenance thing, on every couple of outings after heavy use, you might want to clean and oil the drum of the braking system as per the instructions. If you do that, your reel will perform well for you. Good luck on your decision.
