Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
Had some time to kill, so I went to the park on this gloomy rainy Thursday. Caught 8. They made me work but it was fun. 2 of them went for probably high 2lb's and one went for lower 2lb's. The other 3 went for 1lb's and the last 3 were under 1lb. The rain was on and off, and the wind was light from the North. I used my finesse gear, and was using BPS stick worms on 1/16 weight and primarily 2/0 Gami. One of my bigger ones I caught using 1/0 and was deep hooked. Fortunately, I was able to remove the hook without any fatal damage. I didn't take a pic of that one, I just wanted to return it to the water quickly. Overall, it was fun. Saturday is my monthly glades trip, let's see what happens. Here some pics:

Locations Of Peacock In Soflo
You follow that same canal out by Miami Lakes park, same system, nice pea's. I am telling you our area alone has several spots. You can try further south but I would exhaust your options close to home and save your gas $$.

Right now I work the canal systems off Red Road, and the canals off 138 st. Close to your house there is nice canal that's South of you. You know where Cancun Grill is ? That canal has pea's in it.

Bullet Weight Stoppers - What Works?
Someone mentioned it already. BPS carries them. You get about 50 of them for $2. They come in combo of yellow, red, and black. A member from here turned me on to them and I have been using them ever since.

You live relatively, close to me. Our area have Pea's. They like to hang around the culverts. My favorite lures for them are Rapala's. Something that moves fast and enticing. They take a good look at it, game over. Pick a canal sytem, put on your walking shoes, and cover water. Oh yeah!,,, polarized glasses is a must.

All the canals in Miami carry pea's. PM, Capt Shane maybe he will point you to areas that might be bank accessible. But, you really don't have to travel far. What part of Miami do live in Senko?

Nice one, Martin!! Looks like you had a relaxing time. You got the cigs, fast food drink and food going on. What bait is that? Fluke or your go to lizards?

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
Came back a little while ago from my neighborhood canal. At first glance you would think it was dead. Upon closer inpection, (thank goodness for Costa's!!) I saw several large bass staging to spawn. I caught one, 2lb buck off a very deep flat. Other than that, they were in that skittish stage. I was trying to go after 6lb+ pig, but she wasn't having it. She would come and go. When they get to the defending their territory phase, then it should be interesting.

Yeah, picked up some things last week with the red tags on them. A nice SK crankbait and finesses jig for under $3.

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
It's pretty limited out there to effectively bank fish. MM35, the big rest stop, has several sections you can try. Unfortunately, you were not off a boat. Geo G caught another 70-80 fish today. From that area.

Most Terrifying Fishing Experience?
My story is similar to Geo g's. I was fishing with my BIL, last year in the Everglades on the Miami Canal. We were out on my boat which is a 16 ft Tracker. I was in the front my BIL was in the back. We were surrounded by gators and having a good time catching nice fish. My BIL, had to reach for something on the lower deck, and for what ever reason lost his balance. From that point forward everything moved in slow motion. My BIL, fell backwards into the deep water and was completely submerged. He shot up like a rocket, but the next challenge was getting him back into the the boat without me falling into the water as well. I lowered my self flat across the deck and helped pull and get his leg over the side and back into the boat. Once I realized the ordeal was over and my BIL besides being soaked was ok, I almost pee'd in my pants laughing. I have never seen my BIL, move so fast and see his eyes so big when he shot up out of the water. The gators didn't even flinch. They just sat there looking at us, and thinking " did that really just happen" LOL....

Different Versions Of The St Criox Ltb
I have the previous LTB model and a current one. My previous model LTB, is a MH. I really enjoy this rod, and see myself with it for many years. The craftmanship is great. The materials used are top knotch. This rod is light, sensitive, and very strong. The latest model has everything I just mentioned but refined a little more. If you have found a previous model LTB, you will not be disappointed. Especially, if it comes with a lower $$ tag. If you do get the rod from ebay, just double check if you qualify for the lifetime warranty that those rods carry. I think you should, but I am not sure. Enjoy!!

Florida Bass Fishing - January Edition
Nice fish Mutt. At least you caught one. I got skunked today. Went to canal close to my house and nada. The water was clean and had good clarity, but nobody was home. The ones that I did happen to see, were passing by. They were not interested at all.

Questions About St Croix Warranty
Certain rods are 5 yrs. From the Avid line up they are forever assurance lifetime warranty. That highlighted phrase is a big deal. Shipping is $15 if you use the FedEx deal St.Croix has. In addition to the $15 you send a $20 check separately, with the rod. This is considered their silver plan. This is the only plan I have used.

Questions About St Croix Warranty
Deal with St Croix directly. I have utilized their svc several times. Go to their website or call them, and they will help you from there. They have one of the best CS, I have dealt with.

What Is This Sore?
I have seen those before. I have always thought that those were fish that been caught before, and the sore was the sign of hook trauma.
