  1. I don't use braid but I do use mono as backing. Usually, when changing out my line I take about half of it off then tie on new. Could that be a problem? Also, ThaKing can you elaborate on your last statment...are you saying back off the drag and back off the brakes?

It'll be in tacklebox as soon as I get to the store.
  3. Recently changed alot of my trebles to Gamakatsu. They have been good thus far. Mustad's Triple Grip are suppose to good as well.
  4. Great fish--looks like she spawned out--oh, what could have been.
  5. I'll second Table Rock in Missouri.
  6. I am using on one of my Curados (green 200B--6:2:1) for T-rigs. When I go to set the hook on a fish, I can feel the line coming off the spool. I really have never noticed this before. I cranked down the drag a bit more and it helped some but not alot. This isn't normal is it?
  7. I have been contemplating wether or not to get another Crucial rod or try a Loomis IMX. I do know that Shimano carries the lifetime warranty and Loomis does too for $50 basically. However, are there any reasons why I should get the GLoomis or stay with the Crucials? P.S. Is there $100+ difference in the IMX and the GLX?
  8. Thanks ReelMech---never thought about it weakening the blank. I do back off the drag b/c of the kink in the line that has been occuring. Next question then is--do you tie on the night before or wait until you get to your spot? Also, when fishing during the day do you ever put the lure back on the hook keeper?
  9. Speaking of the Calcutta--would the older (silver) Calcutta 100 be too light in the loafers?
  10. I'm with Avid--hot sauce and reels??....seems better suited for food. I'm kinda skeptical too.
  11. Has anone ever noticed that at the tip of your rod--where the line comes through--there is a divet/indention/groove in the line where you have kept the lure on the rod and stored the lure on the hook keeper? It happens all the time to me. So, will this little divet in the line weaken the line in that particular area?
  12. thanks for responding guys---I thought that I should.
  13. Guys, I can't remember if I read it somewhere or dreamt it but after a day of fishing should you back the drag off of all your reels until the next time you go? If so, what is the real reason behind this?
  14. which one would you get and why if you had your choice?
  15. thanks for the input guys--I appreciate it!
  16. Yea--but what about all that hard tugging on all that grass?
  17. my current Curado 200DHSV needs the new level wind system installed? I bought it last year around this time.
  18. I was fishing this past weekend in a small lake that had hydrilla (or at least some kind of plant species) everywhere--literally. I caught a bunch of fish but there were two large fish that I hooked with a rattle trap that dove down into that thick matted stuff. I was fishing with a Curado 200DHSV but couldn't keep them from entangling me in it. Make a long story short after a 10 minute tug-a-war with both fish I lost them. Do you think this tug-of-war could have caused too much stress on the reel? Don't get me wrong--afterwards the reel didn't seem like anything was wrong....I am just paranoid that I am going to screw some gears or something up. Lastly, is there anything else I could have done to prevent this?
  19. I believe you should try and place the rattle past the entrance hole on almost all types of worms. IMHO I think that by placing them lower down the worm you take away the action of most tails. I have used both the plastic and glass rattles and both seem to work well for me. Obviously, the skinner the worm the skinner or small diameter the rattles should be. Also, using a lighter is the ticket in keeping the rattle in place. You can also try a dab of superglue, but some worms don't seem to like it.
  20. I didn't think about them being a little more weedless---thanks
  21. existing trebles hooks on cranks, topwaters, etc? Just wondering if this was ok to do.
  22. I have a Curado 200DHSV---have been using it for burning spinnerbaits. What else can I use it for? What would you use it for?
  23. I think Shimano's are hard to beat too---the no hassle lifetime warranty sold me. Pretty tough and light as well IMHO.
  24. thanks for the input...anyone else want to add their 2cents? Need some help.
