  1. RoLo--thanks for the comparison. Do you know how the Symetre stacks up against the Stradic MgFA. Are they worth the extra $??
  2. Ok--lets hypotheically say these are your rods below. What baits do you use on these rods? 1. Shimano Crucial---6'6...MH/Fast...10-17lb...1/4-3/4 oz 2. Shimano Compre--6'6...MH/Ext.Fast...10-20lb...1/4-1oz 3. Shimano Compre---6'6...M/Ext.Fast...8-17lb...1/8-1/2oz 4. Shimano Compre---7'0...M/Fast...8-17lb...1/4-3/4oz 5. Shimano Compre---7'0...MH/Ext.Fast...12-20lb...3/8-1-1/4oz 6. Shimano Crucial---7'0...M/Med.Fast...10-20lb...1/4-5/8 7. All Star---6'0....M/Fast....8-17lb....1/4-5/8 8. Abu Garcia---6'3...M/Fast...10-20lb---3/8-1oz 9. All Star---6'0...M/Fast...10-20lb...1/4-5/8 Thanks for all the help!
  3. I have been experimenting with some of rods as to which one would be best suited for throwing topwaters. However, I am not sure which one to use for this application. I mainly throw buzzbaits, Pop-R's, torpedos and a few larger prop baits. In any case, what action and power do you recommend and what lb line do you use?
  4. are they EWG's?
  5. 2 Questions. 1. When you replace the hooks on your crankbaits, topwaters, etc., what brand of hooks do you replace them with? 2. I bought some Gammy EWG but when I compared them with the existing ones on my baits the Gammy's didn't have as large of a barb as the existing ones. And yes, they were the same size hooks. Has anyone else noticed this?
  6. Maybe I need to start a new thread BUT..........is then the MG50 worth $50 more in comparison to the Curado 100 or 200??
  7. I just recently bought some Gammy EWG treble hooks (size 6) and some split rings. I had been needing to replace some old rusty hooks on some of my cranks. Well, it took me forever (like 3 hours) to change out the hooks and rings on 5 baits. I had out the screwdriver, pliers, etc. Is there a better and faster way to do this job. Lastly, the hooks I replaced were put on Mann's -1's and some other smaller cranks that only dive 2-4 feet. I noticed that espically the -1's the front treble was larger than the back. Is it ok to keep them the same size or should I still have the front hook larger?
  8. Ok--so here's the run down....... I have a rather large soft tacklebox and it has 6 hard plastic storage cases in it. All of these are stuffed full of tackle. 4 of the 6 storage cases are nothin but soft plastics. About half of the soft plastics are stored in the original zip lock baggies in the plastic storage cases and the other half are just lying in/on the plastic cases. Will these that are just lying in/on the plastic cases start to disfigure or lose their original shape? Second, will the soft plastics that are in the zip lock baggies start to disfigure or lose their original shape due to the cases being stuffed full? If so, would you still use them or toss them? Lastly, my hard baits have 2-3 baits per compartment in the plastic storage cases. Will this mess them up over time? I know I probably should get another bag or a larger one but.............
  9. Ok guys--I experimented with a buddies shakey head set up this past weekend. This was the first time I had ever fished a shakey head and I really liked it. So, what rod do you recommend for this application? Also, what worms work best?
  10. thanks for letting us know that there also called Palm Trees...been looking for the Ika as well.
  11. ok--so what would you buy?
  12. Ok guys---lets say you get a discount at BPS, 40%...but it is just for BPS related merchandise. Are there any crankbaits, spinnerbaits, worms, etc that are worth buying? If so, what types of cranks, spinners, worms, etc...colors? Now, I don't want to buy just to be buying I want some pretty good stuff. Do you think any of there stuff is worth having?
  13. I am in Moore. I assume that you fish mostly in the Tulsa area?
  14. I have been fishing for as long as I can remember, but I am wanting to get into some small (I mean wee) tournament type action. What do I mean you ask? Well, I don't have the plush Ranger or Triton boat just a lowly 2-man bass buggie. :'( In any case, I was wondering if anyone out there knew of any bass clubs that catered to fishermen such as myself? Thanks for your help!
