  2. We go when ever opportunity allows Joe , in the winter we head to, The Mar de Cortez by Rocky Point, and fill the ice chests Nothing better than fishing at night for those Catfish or Che-Willies! I remember one winter we were bundled up fishing on the Yellowstone River in Montana, for trout. We had 2 pairs of long underwear on under our pants . Anyway my cousin was warming up by the fire and I smelt something burning and look over and his pant-leg is smoldering ! I tossed a couple of hands full of snow on it and patted it out! On a closer look at his pants the fire had burnt through his pants, wool socks and was just browning the 1st layer of long underwear ! I think it was about 30 below that afternoon We caught a few trout which made it worth the trip ! Sometimes not even bad weather slows us down
  3. You asked , " Anyone have a similar experience", Yes ! My advice; Keep the rest of your favorite fishing spots for you and your family, and when you take someone with you in the future let them know not to tell others where your special places are! As you found out from the coworker , not everyone is as experienced as you ! Sorry this happened !

  19. My Grandpa was always taking us fishing and no matter where we went he had his own set of rules that he used, here is one ! When fishing were others kept casting over his line and tangling , he would reel in, and instead of untangling the line he would just cut the line of the other person and lay their lure, fly or hook on a rock beside him ! He said that he never had any of the people tangle with him again ? I have never done this, but it has crossed my mind a few times !
  20. Update : Have not got much fishing in! A town on our way to Alvaro called Vicam has been blocking the only entrance to CD Orbegon from road , we were finally able after 12 hours wait to get to the Lake and the main road to where we load and unload had a mud with rock slide ! So yesterday we headed back to Santa Ana and waited 12 more hours at road block in rain storms , but made it home safely Hopefully things will work out better in Sept ?
