  1. Is it invisix..abrazx...red label...or something else all together?
  2. Bass? Probably last year when I floated down the buffalo I caught probably around 100 brownies, most were small but it was a blast.
  3. When I was 6 I went to threw a rattletrap with 3 foot of slack on the end of my line..... The back treble went through my earlobe ( I didn't keep it pierced )and the rear treble came around and slapped into my eyebrow. I freaked out and threw my rod into the lake so then it was pulling on the trap stuck to my head. Bad day. I have been hit several times from jigs. Mostly dad getting stuck and jerking on it like a crazy man and then the jig comes flying back and hits me.
  4. The problem is defiantly with your knot. Use something else besides the palomar. U can use it but u have to take a lot of time and make sure your lines don't cross. I have been using the shaw grisgby knot and like it. Look it up on YouTube
  5. What about the carbon lite? How has no one mentioned it. I have one and love it. I also just received a veritas but have yet to fish with it so I am going to hold judgment in it but it does feel great iin the hand. The carbonlite might be just a tad lighter but that is nit picking
  6. I respectfully disagree. Fish move to find bait at night. Shad go to shallower water and therefore bass follow. If there is a food supply than yeah they will stay out deeper.
  7. I like shorter rods for top water, easier to work the bait with. Medium action
  8. They generally move up to feeding areas from a staging area. If u can find those areas in the daytime hit them at night. I have the best luck in my night tournaments with black and blue jig with a fliipin blue trailer( zoom chunk works really well), a ten inch worm in some type of dark color, and a black spinnerbaits. Other stuff will work but those are the suggestions u will get a lot of and I have found them to work well.
  9. Dragging it is how I fish 75 percent of the time. It's how I normally catch fish on it. Just drag it along until u hit something stop for just a second then pop it over whatever is there and hold on. Fish will nail it.
  10. Brush hog is my number 1 producer period. I can ALWAYS catch fish on them though not the biggest. While tequila sunrise is a good color I haven't had the best of luck with that color at least during daytime. Night is a different story. Before u give up on the lure get a pack of watermelon or green pumpkin. Fish it exactly as u would a jig. Texas rig it and Drag it, hop it and throw it in trash( logs, grass brush piles....) I actually just caught a new personal best on a brush hog two weeks ago.. 7 1/2lb
  11. Too many story's to tell but my last tournament was a night mare. My partner had a 3 1/2-4lb smallmouth on and I had the net in the water, he brought it up to the boat and it literally jumped clean over the net and then through the jig. Later I hooked a big fish( not going to say the size because I never saw it, but big). Got it halfway to the boat which was apperently the spot it decided to wake up. He took off and I couldn't do anything but watch him strip the drag off on my baitcaster and throw my jig. And then twenty minutes before weigh in I broke off on another big fish. Wrapped me around a tree. After all that 11 lbs won. We had 8......any one of those fish would have won us the tournament.
  12. Not always true....I fished a tournament Friday night with my club that has some very VERY good fisherman. 11lbs won. Sometimes when it gets hot the fish just slow down. We have been catching 20lbs every tournament. Has nothing to do with evolving.
  13. Man, it was slow..... The guy I drew knew the lake very well. We had opputrunity to win but lost some big fish. Had a 4 pound small mouth that jumped clean over the top of the net and spit the jig out. Very aggravating but happens I guess. A measly 11 pounds won it and we should have had way over that. Oh well it was fun anyways
  14. Wow kinda amazed by everyone that always match, I do sometimes but not always. Black and blue jig with pumpkinseed trailer is an absolutely killer combination.
  15. Have a small tournament there this weekend and I have never been on the lake. What are the fish biting on or just any tips? I assume they are on typical summer patterns. It will be at night too......
  16. Ahhh I've been trying to figure out who made those hooks. I was replacing some Hooks awhile back and couldn't find those rotating hooks. I have some on a rogue and they just can't throw those. Downside is that they are pain to get out of the fish lol. A quick google search and it looks like they are all brass colored now instead of black?
  17. I have seen those also, one was hank Parker, but the point is u greatly increase your chances of catching that fish if u have a rod that can sense those subtle bites. It's about percentage, u will always miss fish even with top of the line equipment, but the chance goes down ALOT with better equipment. By the way I own an ugly stick. Durable yes... Sensitive no....
  18. Wow! I must have missed this on the news. What bluff is that on? Horshoe Bend?
