Whats So Good About DC?
At the price from Digitaka I couldn't resist. Best $240 I've spent. I also have a Conquest 100 DC from a forum member and find it a fantastic smooth caster. I don't NEED either one but find myself really liking to throw both! Gives me great pleasure. And, in such, adds to the whole fun of fishing experience.

Late to the party lure
For me, Pointers and Visions. I found out by googling the "Best bass baits". The pointer was number ONE of about 50 so I bought some. First time I used them I caught about 15 bass while sitting in one place on a Pointer 100 in Sexy Shad. Next was the chatterbait. Bought a couple of local made Delta chatterbait in white chartreuse with Little Dipper in Sexy Shad and caught a bunch first try. Had to acquire a more M/H Rod to cast them so bought a Dobyns DX 744 for them. Lastly the jig. A local mom and pop tackle store owner said the bass were hitting on a 1/4 Bitsy Bug in Black/blue with a Sapphire Zoom Jr Chunk. Still learning how to pitch it. Bought a Loomis NRX 893 ( because on forums it was highly and rightly touted) to pitch it on. Just NOW I'm looking at drop shot. Still too unsettled water and weather here to get out. Seems strange because "what's old is new again". I used to fish that rig for catfish and crappie maybe 60 years ago. Didn't realize that I was a GENIUS. We also used the NED RIG to catch bass under docks in False River,Louisiana. One thing I will NEVER bring to the party is the A Rig. That's called. SEINING in this area. Distasteful to me! I know it catches fish. Why not get a Salt Water boat Rod and put 20 baits on what you could call tha AAAA RIG and troll around the lake. Sorry:. Rant over. Been a tough weekend!LOL

VMC Glide Jigs
Looks "gimmicky" to me.

Jig Trailer stand-up test
For me, the important thing is do I catch fish with it. Never really considered about it floating or not.

one or two handed casting
Only fish bayous here. Always one hand for over 60 years. I can see a 2 hand approach for distance but I have no need for distance. That's why I have a boat. I only need accuracy in the waters I fish. Guess that's why I don't like long grips on a Rod. Roll casts are my favorite cast.

Inward vs outward facing barbs for trebles.
Got one of the out barbs stuck in my finger and I couldn't get it out. Doc says it was the worst he's ever dealt with. Stuck in the knuckle At that moment I bought a Boga gripper and a great pair of pliers.

Kistler Question
Just ordered a 6'9 ARGON today in Medium to use for that application. Gonna put an Abu Morrum on it with 6/8# line for close work in the bayous.

Question about the Cabelas Advanced Angler Bag
The Super Magnum will go from side to side in a pickup truck bed. After I bought the Magnum I found that even IT was too big . I also bought a Large without the boxes and put in my own. That way you get exactly what you want . I stock the Large with baits I will use for THAT day/condition. I pack EVERYTHING in the Magnum but rarely carry it since it must weigh 70 pounds . By the way, I fish out of a Tracker Pro 16!!

Exsence DC
Got one on way from Digitaka! This will be my second DC reel. Bought a used Conquest 100DC AND AM AMAZED at how effortlessly it casts! I figured that I really like the shape of the old Core 100 and CHRONARCH D ( even better than the Core 50) as it Fits my hand better. The Exsence should be best of both worlds.

Cleaning outside reel body & rods?
Same stuff I use on my motorcycle: PRO HONDA SPRAY CLEANER AND POLISH.

Pick a baitcasting rod for me, please: Dobyns Saavy vs. Denali Kovert vs. G. Loomis E6X
I have the Loomis E6. Meh! Better rods out there for price . I vote St Croix Avid. Does everything! One of the most underrated rods in my opinion Also have 2 Kistlers. Excellent rods. I'm amazed at the quality of their blank
- Stained Water Jerkbaits

Gloves?
BARBOUR makes some fingerless WOOL gloves. Bought them to wear with my Barbour Beaufort jacket and found they work well. Expensive but worth it Winter motorcycle gloves when running the boat. My wool fingerless glove stays on and slips in the motorcycle glove. At my age I don't go out in boat if temps below 45.

GLASS VS GRAPHITE
I'm SUPER happy with Dobyns Champion 704CB GLASS! Perfect loading tip that simply launches a medium crank. Also enough give to not rip the bait out. I also like it a lot for slinging 78 and 100 Pointers and Visions. Lose fewer fish with the forgiving nature of the Rod. I was really very surprised at the performance of this Rod!! and, a good value also.

Dobyns DX702C/743C
The 702C is one of my favs for small or medium cranks. Shallow water here in bayous so fish from 2-5 feet Is plenty. A Curado 50E is a perfect compliment to the Rod. Also a Steez 103. A sheer joy to cast!!

Kistler Question
I have 2 Helium 3s. I think the Medium would be the better choice. Loads and casts better. I think the M/H would be the better pitching Rod for 1/4-3/8 jigs and creatures. I really like the lightness and simplicity of the H3s.

Daiwa Alpha sv 105
I've bought several reels from Digitaka. Often they are cheaper. And shipping is quick! I have the SV 105 from them. Unlike the others who have high praise for the reel, I'm a bit indifferent. I much prefer my Red Airy, and 2004 Purple Alpha, And Orange Alpha, and Scorpion 1000XT However it is a great reel for the price. I bought one just to see what the hoopla was about. In my case, I've pretty much fished Bait Finesse ALL my life. Before they came up with the word. So it's not a dramatic difference from what I own. I DO feel it is a terrific beginning bait-casters reel since with the SV spool you can get by with an "ignorant thumb." And-----I let my brother who has a "mentally Challenged thumb " use it so he doesn't spend all of his time sorting out backlashes. It would make a great gift for Christmas

Crankbait Color Options
You might want to throw some 4-5 inch wacky worms in black/blue flake or watermelon red flake. . Use a 1/16 oz weedless wacky hook. Also a Flick Shake worm or Zoom finesse worm. Small cranks in Green back/ chartreuse sides and orange bottom. especially good are the Keitech Swing Impact Fat 3.8 in a Smoke glitter on a weighted 1/16 oz weighted Owner Twistlock hook. Or a Little Dipper on a 1/16 oz Owner Twistlock light swim bait hook. (Sexy Shad) Last would be a 1/4 oz swim jig in white/Chartreuse tipped with a Baby Rage Craw in blue or a 1/4 oz Bitsy Bug in Black/ blue tipped with small sapphire plastic chunk A light spinning outfit would help in getting the distance you need. Casting parallel to the bank is a good place to start.

False River In Louisiana
False River has declined. Best bet is to go to Old River, in Morganza, just a few miles away. It also is an oxbow lake like False River.

Custom Build - Chatterbait Rod
I agree with DVT. I don't give a flip about who uses what. That's what endorsements are for. And I don't wear Jordan shoes or use Mike Tysons cologne. I am NOT THAT person. What works for him may or may not suit me. For me, the Medium Heavy works. But I don't rip through grass. I fish wooded banks and flats down here in the south. I've recently been killing them on a Megabass X4 Black Elseil. To each his own. But choose what YOU feel is right.

Help Me Justify A Shimano Conquest
I have the 100TE GR, the 15 Conquest 100HG, the old Conquest 50S shallow spool, And an older plain Calcutta 50 recently tuned by Ian Shields. The TEGT is on a Dobyns Champion 764 RMCB for medium square bills and Pointers and Megabass Visions. I like the fact that I ca "wang" it far and fish shallow flats The Conquest 50S is by far the best and most effortless the 3. I have 12 lb braid and pitch 1/4 jigs and plastics with a Loomis IMX 893. The 15 Conquest is on a Custom St Croix LTB blank with a full Eva handle for Swim Jigs like Keitech Impact fat. The super tuned Calxutta 50 is on a Black Elseil X4 for bladed jigs of 3/8 oz with Keitech trailers. The size differences are minor but the Calcutta 50 feels like a well worn bar of soap. Very comfortable to Palm. The Conquest 50S is the smoothest and most fun to fish The 15 Conquest 100 HG is a tad larger than the 50s. The 100TEGT A TAD larger than the 15 Conquest but more comfortable to Palm (in MY medium sized hands) than the 15 Conquest 100. I really like ALL of them. And I'm constantly putting them on multiple rods to see how the dynamics change What I want NOW is the older model Conquest 50 with the deeper spool. All the doodads on the 15 Conquest do not make them a better reel. In my opinion, just a FASTER reel. I've got many fast reels. Only others I have that I love as much are the Steez and the Zonda 10 and Airy Red Pixy. And of course a 105 TDZ
