  1. I am looking for a new rod for light texas rigs and finesse jigs and I am looking at the 7'1" MH XF Legend Extreme. I am planning on pairing it with a Lews Tournament Pro Speed Spool reel. I had a Legend Tournament Bass series rod in this length and action so I know for sure that this is the length and action I want, I just want to be sure that it would be worth the investment. Any input would be great. Thanks.
  2. I have been looking to buy a new quality pair of sunglasses and I really like the Wiley X Rout Sunglasses with Polarized Emerald Mirror lenses. They have amber tinted lenses under the emerald green mirrored surface so they will perform well in all light conditions. I would just like some input on whether or not you guys think these would be a good investment and if you own these what you think of them. Thanks.
  3. I have a buddy who has done it numerous times with a Carbonlite too. He loves the rods though so he keeps on exchanging them every time it happens.
  4. 38 smallmouth in one day in canada. Average was around 2lbs but a few went over. The best I have had in my area was 20 not including fish less than 14".
  5. My set up: 6' 10" Medium Power Extra Fast Action St. Croix Legend Tournament 3000 Shimano Stradic FJ 10lb Sunline Fluorocarbon The shaky heads I use are the Megastrike Shake2 Pro Model Shaky heads or the Jewel Bait Jeff Kriet Squirrel Head jigs.
  6. I like NorthStar a lot, but Dirty Jigs also makes good swim jigs with a larger color selection than NorthStar. However the Dirty Jigs are not hand tied like the NorthStars are. My favorite trailers are the Berkley Havoc Grass Pigs and the Lake Fork Boot Tail Live Magic Shads in colors that match the jigs.
  7. Tackle Warehouse when I am buying online and Bass Pro Shops if I am not buying online.
  8. I'm also a Legend Tournament Fan, but I would go with the Legend Extremes if I had the money.
  9. -St. Croix Legend Tournament 6'10" Medium Power Extra Fast Action Spinning Rod with a Shimano Stradic 3000FJ -St. Croix Legend Tournament 7'6" Medium Heavy Power Moderate Fast Action with a Lews Tournament Speed Spool in 7.1:1 -St. Croix Rage Casting Rod 6'8" Medium Heavy Power Fast Action with a Shimano Curado 200e7 Can't wait for my tournaments to start.
  10. I have both and you can't go wrong either way. I would lean more towards the Lew's because it has magnetic and centrifical brakes but that's just personal preference.
  11. As many have already said I would personally go with either Stradic, preferably the FJ. I would get the FJ, if you aren't worried about the extra weight, because the one that I have seems to be a much more solid reel than the CI4 in my opinion.
  12. I love the Excel mono. I have used it for the past couple years and I have yet to have a problem. You cannot beat it for the price.
  13. I fish mine on my spinnerbait rod which is a 6'8" MH fast action rod. I love throwing them on that set up however a friend of mine uses a Dobyns Champion 685 CB which I know he likes a lot when using chatterbaits.
  14. Rage Craw or Chigger Craw in green pumpkin, black blue, or watermelon.
  15. I'll flip and pitch them on a texas rig. I'll generally use a 3/16 oz-3/8 oz weight depending on the type of the cover and I use a 4/0 gamakatsu EWG Superline hook.
  16. I generally swap out the hooks to KVD Elite trebles or Gamakatsu EWG trebles which have drastically helped me to land more fish. I too have the Mojo Glass Crankster which works really well for me since it has a moderate action. As for the line, I would go with mono or fluoro because the added stretch will also help you to land more fish. When I set the hook with crankbaits I let the rod load up and I sweep to the side. I do not set as hard as I would with something like a jig or texas rigged plastic. I think the problem you are having is with the line because due to the fact that braid has near zero stretch it will easily rip the hooks out of the fish's mouth especially when they are just slapping at the bait. Swapping out the hooks and using line with more stretch should help. I Hope this helps.
  17. haha that's funny you would mention that because I was there a few weeks back and I picked up a few packs of them. I'm looking forward to trying them out.
  18. I'm also a big fan of the Pit Boss. I am also really interested in the D Bomb, but it is too cold for me to try them. I have used the Reaction Innovations Sweet Beavers and I really like their color selection. Other than that I do not really think of them as anything special. That's just my opinion on them though.
  19. I like the 1.5 a lot, as many have already mentioned, but I also really like the Rapala DT Fat 3.
  20. Bluebasser86, How does the CI4 balance with that rod? I was wondering because I have the same exact rod, and I need a new reel for it.
  21. Savvy's and Endurance's are great rods, but I prefer the St. Croix Avid series.
  22. 1. Pliers 2. Braid scissors (they cut anything) and/or a small pocket knife 3.Sunglasses 4.Wire Cutters 5.Rag or towel 6.Culling Tags (for tournaments) 7.Bump Board or measuring tape (mostly for tournaments) 8.Scale 9.Camera 10.Fishing License
  23. Chartreuse Sexy Shad or Sexy Ghost Minnow.

I like NorthStar Swim Jigs and Dirty Jigs Swim Jigs. I like fishing them just over the tops of weeds at a slow speed. I like bluegill colors the most, but I also do well with crayfish and shad colors as well. My favorite trailers are Rage Craws or a Keitech Swing Impact swim bait.
  25. I love mine for light texas rigs (3/16-5/16 oz), finesse jigs (1/4-3/8 oz), and its good for lighter swim jigs up to 3/8 oz. It is one of my favorite rods, despite it being tip heavy. I generally use no more than 3/8 oz with this rod. I would not use a 3/4 oz jig on this rod, and I have not used spinnerbaits with it because I prefer a fast action rather than an extra fast with spinnerbaits.
