  2. Thanks, jlc2ay. I'll be practicing tomorrow before I hit the ponds tomorrow.
  3. Hello Bass Resource, Today, I went fishing today and I was very frustrated with my reels. But, Im still a novice and but I have some experience. I have Abu Garcia Black Max original and I also have Abu Garcia Black Max 2. Today I put brand new line. I put on 12 monofilament trilene green color on both reels then put my lure on. Then I went over to the Backside Creek, ( a slough ) then Chicken Creek that connects to the Cedar River and Mad Creek that is connected to the Miss. River and Klum Lake. All those times, I kept getting back lashes ( bird nest ) I kept getting mad. Yes I am putting my thumb on the line so it does not occur the bird nest happening. But It does. I feel i just want to quit fishing. I need some tips or give me some inputs. Or else I'm just gonna sell these reels/rod then get a couple spinning rods. But I prefer to use my baitcaster to learn. But I just keep getting those stupid bird nest. /rant. But it'd be so nice to give me some tips/lessons/inputs. Thanks. Dillon (DILLY07)
  4. Thats a nice pike. I remember I was out on the Mississippi River and I casted out with black bandit 100 series crankbait and I reeled in really slow. All the sudden I thought HOOKED on a bass and I reeled in fast and I landed a pike. They sure do pick up a good fight! Looks like you had fun!
  5. I have one Abu Garcia Black Max 2. The caster is amazing. It's actually one of my to go reel and rod. Its 80 dollars and you cant beat that for the price.
  6. If I were in your shoes, I'd go with Browning Siraflex MH Rod. Buddy of mine has one, I'm amazed of action, the feel and also of the looks. Good for the price.
  7. Carp does indeed scare the bass away. Carp usually eats the bass fish eggs during egging( Thats what I heard). From what I hear by catching carp, you could get wet and roll up bread with corn on the hook. Works for me. If I were you, I WOULD try SPRO frog bait or topwater? if you have any experience. You can learn this by going to Youtube.
  8. Hello guys, Im Dillon. I am 21 years old. I've been fishing for good 4 years then didn't have time to fish again for some reasons then got back into it again. I am very excited to meet some people off Bass Resource. I love learning, tips, chitchat with others. Bass fishing never ends. You always learn everything while bass fishing. Thanks guys, Dillon aka Dilly
  9. I want to try Yum Money Minnow or Spro frogs.
  10. I am pretty much settled by the Bandit 100/200 series. I just love them. But I also like Rapala and Strike King.
  11. I usually fish off shore. But sometimes on the boat. I'll get a few snags. Last weekend I lost my favorite worm( frankly, it was my last worm) , it must of got hooked something and I had to break the line. It sucks.
  12. When I fish with the spinnerbait. I usually throw in White/Chartreuse with somewhat lightly sparkly skirt with gold and silver/chrome willows. It's just my to go bait when I use spinnerbait. It works well with a stained water and or clear with visibility . Or its my luck. When I throw it, I usually sink it the bottom then retrieve slowly then cast it out again do the same thing. Works for me. Learning bass fishing never ends.
  13. I am looking into buying the Abu Garcia Orra S Spinning Reel. I was wondering how well this reel is. It seems durable. I probably use this reel for lighter bait such as senkos, worms, frog bait and such. I just want the input. Thanks, Dillon aka Dilly
  14. Im in Muscatine, Iowa. Theres nice sloughs around here. I got 5 pounders and some less. I think Im going to hit West Lake this weekend and try it out. I probably to have to use different kinds of lures and baits. How deep are the ponds facing the interestate 280?
  15. That's a great success. Keep bassin'! Congrats!
  16. That's a beautiful bass. That's a neat place to fish. I wish there's lily pads around where I fish. Theres none around here. It sucks. I want to come there.
