  4. thanks man...i didn't know what those were on the sides but they look awesome and hey, maybe they don't do as they say, but maybe that one time they will. maybe they stop you from going over so fast and slows you down to prepare...ahem, ok. they do look cool as does the entire boat. my pelican is a smooth material called ramx and needs some quietness about the floor...maybe indoor outdoor. i did use spray on liner to keep from slipping and right when i finished...it pours. i blotted any excess and put it on my truck and the next morning my inside was zebra striped. made me sick but i think most will come off. yes about the bow, i actually should have asked if it was a type of skid plate. thanks again and great boat.
  5. awesome boat man! mind if i ask where you got the bumpers or did you do them yourself and is the front bow seam a reinforcement of some type or part of the boat? the front bottom of mine looks a little rough from pulling up too hard on a landing and it got scuffed badly. does anyone know of a way to protect that...shy of going slower?
  6. hello everyone...a new noob here and i'll bite...i just bought a 15.5' pelican canoe to fish with along the banks near the landings and i am loving it. i've had flatbottoms, bass boats, bass/ski and now this. i bought a minn kots to help with the paddling, i have now added a humminbird locator and am each week customizing. being new to canoes, their instability and all, i am learnig a lot. personally as i said, i'm loving it and feel like a kid on a new adventure. EDIT: after seeing goose's ride i'll post pics of mine later. that's a fine rig man!
  7. who saw this site in a google search and thought ok...there's a nice group of folks to irritate so here i am. my name is ronny, i'm single, filthy rich, own my own lake and i lie like a fisherman. i am single, but not as a result of lying. i'm 56, from the southwest corner of arkansas just 8 blocks from texas. i have fished all my life, started on lake greeson in daisy arkansas, growing up on every pond creek, watering hole that could be found. my dad bought my brother and i a sears flatbottom/trailer and a 9 1/2 johnson in about 1969 and my brother and i and a few friends found millwood lake just 25 miles north. that is when the lying became full grown. i have fished millwood one end to the other and back. starting a family and work took fishing slowly from me for many years. in 2010 i suffered congestive heart failure and in feb. 2011 had a heart attack and was forced to retire as my abilities became very limited. in my first year of retirement i learned if i didn't find something to do i was gonna die watching the western channel. i was in academy sporting goods and saw the kayaks and started looking. they had a pelican canoe for $269. well so much for kayaks and i was on it like white on light. i ordered a rack from amazon for my p.u. bed and the journey began. being on limited income i've had to settle for some things simply made myself. i was just getting the canoe top fish the banks near the landing and for exercise paddling. i learned my second trip though as the wind reminded me that on a lake can be brutal. i had to work harder than i was suppose to to get back and realized things happen so i began looking into trolling motors and mounting one. i used a 2x4 to solve my problem there and bought a minn kota that on my canoe can scream at the pace of about 100 yards a minute. now my simple plan of exercise and fun involved the state, an insurance company and oh yea the battery people wanted my money too and since i hate batteries cluttering up a boat and going dead, i gave the battery box people some cash also. then one day enjoying it all i thought...hmmm, i wonder how deep it is? well peop[le have answers for those who question things and i gave money to the humminbird family. told y'all i was rich. haha...was. now i regularly visit degray lake near bismark arkansas just 80 miles away. i have been around boats all my life and the outdoors and this looked like a good site so...like i said, thought i'd pester y'all, but trust me if i do it will be with how to questions...then why. just kidding, hope everyone is enjoying the summer and leaving some fish for those...uh who ever they are that don't catch many. i'll post some pics of my slide soon.
