  1. I'm actually rather partial to my Bomber square As. Granted, my experience is limited.
  2. Great! Now everyone will be doing it...I'll have to switch to my other secret...Alabama rig with crankbaits of different depths on braided line. You fish it really fast through grass and laydowns. Fishing sure gets expensive.
  3. I think you may need to experiment with different baits and depths. I think a spinnerbait is generally a good idea, or crankbait slow rolled. A rage craw or similar could also be productive. this way you cover the entire water column.
  4. I found myself soaked and or sunburned more times this season than i care to admit!
  5. Actually, I think that's a reasonable price. I was thinking of doing something similar with nail clippers and a lighter leash! lol....but that looks much more professional.
  6. I'm looking into getting a digital scale and decent multi-tool so any recommendations would be appreciated! Also, what are some of your favorite fishing accessories or what would you never do without?
  7. Post a bass video that you found instructive or that you felt "upped your game". No insult to BR or flukemstr, but I've seen all the ones on here...twice. Lol
  8. Brethren of the bass, I have the hardest time with keeping my equipment straight, and untangled while on the water and off. How do you maintain your outfits during your trip, particularly those of you that have limited space? Do you guys keep your lures on your various rods hanging out over the water as you're going along, or do you only ready one at a time as necessary and make sure the one you were using is secured before picking up another? Also, I have a terrible time with hook keepers on the rod, and have one rod without them. The lures are always falling out of the hook keepers and getting tangled, and I don't want to put too much strain bending the rod. Thanks.
  9. I'm thinking between 3 and 4. Pretty fish.
  10. No. it wouldn't break your rod if your rod is rated for 30 lb mono. It has a similar diameter. I take it this is saltwater
  11. Currently, I'm working with a 6'6 m/f vendetta matched with a 6:4 pro qualifier, and a pflueger president on a bps tourney special spinning rod w/ the same power/action. I just bought a lightly used shimano saros 1000 spinning reel for $60 and am looking for a nice rod in the $100 range to handle weightless plastics and finesse techniques. 1. What rod should I pair this with, action, power and brand? 2. Is 15lb. braid about the largest I can go being it's rated for 6 lb.mono? 3. Will one more casting setup in 7'0 mh/f, along with the other setups, cover most applications? 4. How would I break up the duty of each setup by application? Thanks BR!
  12. I'd rather catch dinks than nothing at all...at the same time a single big girl is much preferred over twenty shrimps.
  13. The lake. Ed allen campground. I've not been but I'd assume the access is easy, not sure on shatter whether or not you have to camp their to fish them.
  14. CHICKAHOMINY? Campgrounds, two stocked ponds, boat rentals.
  15. Does anyone use a mono leader on braid instead of flouro? Does it undermine the purpose of braided line? Would it be an issue to use 12 lb. mono leader with 20 lb. braid?
  16. OP is asking whether it's a good strategy to buzzbait over an area for a while (whether you get strikes from it or not ) and then ,once you've presumably stirred up any fish in the area, to fish the area with a soft stickbait. Specifically, using a buzzbait just to attract interest from the fish (priming the water) in the area then switching lures.
  17. I've heard it said recently to fish deep or tight to cover on bright sunny days, and to fish shallow coves or just off cover on overcast days. Realizing the many different factors that determine strategy on any given day, is this a fair generalization?
  18. would I drop the rod and do another over the head hookset? No. But instinctually, I keep tension on the line and may sweep set in the opposite direction the fish is swimming. Is that the right thing to do? Dunno
  19. Anybody here fish it? Any tips or experiences?
  20. Well that steers me in the right direction!
  21. I don't eat them because they fish better than they taste. I'd much prefer catfish, crappie, or various other panfish. But now that I think about it, I do have a strange sort of fondness for the bass. Regardless, I'd happily share some bass and hushpuppies!
  22. Noted and noted. Now you just walked out of (insert large box fishing store ) and opted for the next best thing, in your bag is-----?
  23. To fishing buddy : "Stop being a wuss, that lure was nowhere near you" (as I almost take his hat off with my cast" "I swear to God I'm never fishing treble hooked lures again" (every week)
  24. I'm looking for a swim jig that I can cast at cover, hop a few times and swim back to the boat and also.. 1. Has a good sharp, appropriately sized hook (3/8oz weight). 2. A tough skirt that swims well. 3. Is NOT a northstar jig! (I already get it, they're great, and I'm saving up money to do a large order) Bonus Points if it doesn't break the bank!
