New Jig Trailers!
I had some time to kill today before class so i swung by walmart. I cant go to the fishing stuff without buying something. I looked at some jigs and noticed that the super chunk made by zoom (i think thats who makes them correct me if im wrong) was out of stock. right below the jigs, i noticed some new trailers. With the price under $3 and myself on a budget i had to get a closer look. That led to me buying two packs of these new jigs. I asked a salesman if anyone had good things to say about them and he told me they were new and he had not heard anything yet. The jig comes wit two rattles in the pack to go with 5 trailers. The rattle is inserted through the cavity on the trailer and then the hook goes through the inserted rattle trap. I hope the picture uploads, if anyone has anything to say about this new lure please let us all know. I cant wait to try it out!!!!

Talk About Bad Luck....
Hows it going guys, i had to share this one with everyone. So i went on my first trip of the season as i mentioned in another post. Didnt do as well as expected however the first of my 2013 season was reeled the previous evening at a pond go to regularly. The only problem is that the could have been my only trip for some weeks to come and maybe months. Basketball is my second love behind hunting/fishing. I played all through highschool and recently every sunday i played some pickup games at the local gym. We have some physical games to be older and out of shape, that all caught up with me though. I am a post player so i normally defend the paint on defense (unfortunately). A guy was bringing the ball down the lane, he veered to the left to attempt a tear drop layup, as he did i jumped to contest his shot. As i came back down, i twisted my back awkwardly. The pain hit me immediately, i couldnt stand up straight. I knew i screwed myself up bad. An hour passed, i still somehow had to get myself home. After doing some stretches, i eventually made it outside walking in a crouched postioned since i still couldnt stand up straight. I came to find out it was raining, actually it was a downpour and my car was parked at the end of the lot. I got soaked. My weekend went great!!! only not really. I eventually made it home, showered and went to bed. Ive just now as of wednesday around 4 pm began walking again. I have layed in the bed all week. I assumed it was a pulled muscle, i also had symptoms of a ruptured disk but i have made good progress since sunday night. I plan on going to the dr tomorrow to get an mri to make sure no e permanent damage is done. I do not fish from a boat alot, i mostly fish ponds and rivers which requires alot of walking so its untelling when i will be able to do that again. So thats how my first weekend of spring fishing has went. Im going to be out for a month or so. Happy Fishing!!

First Trip Of Season Results
Definetly agreed, I checked the forecast for around mid April and our temperatures here in ky will be around 60-70 degrees a big improvement considering we have about an inch of snow on the ground as of now. When this weather decides to get out I'm hitting some ponds wide open to redeem myself

First Trip Of Season Results
This past saturday my brother, a friend of his and myself set out for the first fishing trip of the season. Our lake of choice was cedar creek lake located in Stanford, Kentucky. According to KY G&F, the lake is #2 best bass fishing lakes in KY. We were all excited to finally get out on the water, however, our first trip ended up being a bummer. The weather the previous saturday was around 65, so we decided to plan the trip for the next saturday so the water could warm up. That sunday night a cold front came through dropping the weeks average temperatures around 45 degrees. The water temperture at cedar creek hovered around 45-48 degrees. We were hoping for at least 50 degrees but that didnt happen. To add fuel to the fire, cedar creek was hosting a fishing tournament, one of their first of the season making fishing even more difficult. Only one fish out of 15 boats was weighed in. Needless to say, the first trip was unsuccessful but we all had a good time. To me, thats what its all about, having fun but of course reeling in that 5 pounder always gets your adrenaline going. We decided to pick another trip in April, hopefully we have a better turnout. Hope anyone that was on the water this past weekend had better luck than us!!!

Fishing In High School And College
I wish my highschool would have put together a fishing club. EKU and UK both have outstanding fishing teams and skeet&trap. It's a shame the state doesn't fund other clubs for students who choose not to play sport

First Trip Of Season Tips
Thanks for the advise guys. Dogman i appreciate you directing me to the blog, it was very helpful. The blog mentions jerkbaits are working good for now considering temps are around 46-47 like you said. I plan on taking some jerk baits and shad as road warrior and the blog advised, along with maybe a spinner bait or two. The website talked about how it was a great time to catch a "hog" and thats what im going for. I'll fill everyone in on how the trip goes

Best Smallmouth Lure
Honestly, i started off smallie fishing with the regular treble hook plastic crawdad. I forgot the actual name but they're hard to beat. Rooster tails are good lures as well. White flukes with a size 3 hook is a good selection too IMO

First Trip Of Season Tips
My first trip of the season is coming up next weekend. Im heading to cedar creek lake located in lincoln county, kentucky. I havent lake fished for bass much since i have become involved in the sport so im unsure what baits to use for this first trip. The forecast as of now is sunny with the temp around 50 degrees. Weather here right now is a little bipolar ( warm one day, snowing the next). According to the pro anglers, crank baits and spinner baits are tough to beat right now for this time of year and supposedly the fluke as well. Can anyone give me some lures theyve had success with at this time of year? Keep in mind the forecast and temperature, all advice will be greatly appreciated. If everything goes as planned and i am able to make the trip, i will fill everyone in on how the trip went and how everyones suggested lures worked.

Late Fall/early Winter Bass Fishing
Hey guys i need some advice for bass fishing this time of year. I just completed my first semester of college. Everything went well, i now have a lot of free time. It is to cold to dirt bike, so ive been thnking about doing some fall bass fishing. The pond/small lake i fish is a great location during the summer, even with the harsh temperatures that southeastern kentucky has to offer. I have always heard the best times to fish are early spring and late fall. I havent done either so i need some help. This pond is deep in areas, i will only be walking the banks. There is a lot of vegetation and cover. What baits would be best? Itll be impossible to use a jig, im thinking about using the old faithful fluke and maybe even the scum frog. Any advise? I havent been in this sport long so bare with me.

Are Bass Not Going To Be Active Midday In 100 Degree Weather (Small Pond)?
hey man, the way i think of it is this. fish r jus like humans, when its hot they wanna stay cool when its cooler theyre more active. i have the same issue because i live in eastern kentucky and weve seen triple digit temps for about a week and a half straight but not getting off subject in this heat these fish r going to seek deeper water bc its cooler for them. the good part is they have to eat sometime. try using maybe a texas rig brush hog and work in along the bottom or even a crank bait which ever you like and good luck!!
