  1. That sounds like a very good idea, but it would probably put a lot more moment on the extending arm then it was designed for. Power pole probably hasn't made a system like this because then people would only have to buy one!
  2. I always fish at least once a week, all year round. If I pull my boat up to Delavan (about an hour) I usually make a day of it. In the winter I go more often, but don't fish as long.
  3. Try a finess worm on a drop-shot rig. You can hover and twitch it in front of their nose, and eventually a few of them should eat.
  4. Why...does my lure bounce across the lake? Because there is 10" of ice on top.
  5. I'd say I picked it up without too much trouble. I have been fishing as long as I can remember, and tended to out fish my dad, cousins, and uncles on a regular basis. My first high school bass tournaments were a rude awakening, and I realized that I had a lot to learn to become a competitive fisherman. I have come a long way since then, but I still am not fishing near the level of the top college guys. Long story short, I thought I was a natural because of who I compared myself to.
  6. 4 strokes are not necessarily the future. Clean, quiet, powerful engines in any form are the future. EFI 2-strokes like Evinrude's E-tec are getting better emissions ratings from the California Air Resources Board than a lot of four-strokes out there.
  7. Very interesting video, I actually watched the whole thing! There is no way I could enjoy that kind of fishing. I get antsy when I have to retrieve bass lures slowly, so sitting and watching a pole might kill me!
  8. I'll second that little guy. I have a fishing buddy who wears 'em out on it when the water is cold.
  9. I don't know about all that, but I sure catch a lot of bass under docks!
  10. Nice fish!! I'm unbelievably jealous, you guys go on a trip like that and here i am in Northern Illinois with hard water. And not even enough ice to get out on!
  11. Congrats on that hog! That fish is closer to a state record than most of us will ever catch.
  12. My PB. I didn't get any measurements, but she went 6-5 and i doubt she measured much over 20"".
  13. I use the Owner 2/0 weedless wacky hook and a rubber O-ring.
  14. I have never had manageability issues with flouro (or any other line) on a baitcaster. I would say that braid vs flouro has a lot to do with what rod you are putting the line on and the application. Braid will require a softer tipped rod to make up for the lack of stretch. I personally love flourocarbon for bottom contact baits due to the slack line sensitivity.
  15. Wow, that is an impressive year! I would love to catch some of those giant pike, my biggest is only 33"!
  16. Braver or stupider? I have some friends that venture out on under 2 inches...Young and stupid I guess lol But seriously, I am comfortable on 3" but never go alone until there is a lot more ice.
  17. It can actually be pretty exciting! Watching the fish respond to your bait on your flasher is really fun.
  18. Hit a small pond today and caught a ton of bluegills with some nice bass mixed in. It felt great to get out and bend a rod again! The ice was almost 4" thick in some spots, but less then 2" in others. I was using 3 and 4 mm tungsten ice jigs tipped with plastics.
  19. Never tried the supreme, but I love my president, and it costs $40 less...I would assume that the supreme is great too!
  20. I've caught numerous bass on small jigs while targeting panfish through the ice. In fact, its rare that I fish a pond without catching at least one bass. They are a blast on 2 lb line and an ultralight! I can usually tell when i'm marking a bass on my flasher because they look big and slow compared to a bluegill or crappie.
  21. I usually use 3/8 oz on my t-rigs. the extra weight just makes casting and pitching easier for me, without worrying about backlashes.
  22. Try a strike king elaztec finesse worm wacky rigged. My dropshot success has skyrocketed since I switched from roboworm to SK. The action on that little worm in unreal.
