I have pieces of pvc pipe I cut for some of my rod holders but I also have one of the 2 tube rod holders that you see all over the place.

Rod Opinions
Thanks for the replies guys. Good info all around. I was definitely leaning toward the Avid out of those 3. I'm going to the BPS in Harrisburg at the end of the week and I will check it out. I have thought about the custom route. I have had contact with a few local rod builders and the prices seem to get over my budget very quickly.

Rod Opinions
I'm looking ot upgrade my rod that I use for lighter t-rigs and jigs. Currently I'm using a St. Croix Triumph 6'6" medium power fast action rod. The rod is paired with a Shimano Chronarch 51E spooled with Sunline Sniper FC. I fish out of a kayak and I have found I like to keep the rods under 7' if I can. 3 rods have really caught my eye. They are the Dobbyns Savvy micro 6'6" MH, Ducket Micro Magic 6'6" Medium or MH, and the St. Croix Avid 6'8" medium extra fast. Out of those 3 I'm leaning towards either the Ducket or the St. Croix because of the medium power. Eventually I would like to get another combo strictly for heavier t-rigs and jigs. Most of the water I fish doesn't have a lot of vegegation or structure where I would need a ton of power to get the fish out of. Sensiivity is my #1 while weight and aesthetics are a close 2nd. I'm lookng for any opinions on these rods or even others that I may have overlooked. I need to keep the price point under $200 but would like to keep it closer to $150 if possible.

Can Carp And Bass Live In Harmony In A Pond?
What ponds is the op talking about? I was at a lake yesterday on my yak and there were a lot of carp spawning and causing a lot of noise on the surface by the banks and I caught 2 descent sized bass. I talked to a few other people and they caught bass as well as crappie and blue gill.

Should We Be Compensating At The Pump For E10?
I am in no way a marine mechanic but I am a gas/diesel tech. The octane rating is the ability of the fuel to resist knock or pre-ignition. That is all. It has nothing to do with burn rate. That is what ignition advance is for. If it takes x amount of seconds to completely burn a cylinder of air and fuel then you would need to start the burn earlier when the engine is at higher RPM since the engine is moving faster therefore less time to go through a cycle. Gasoline, diesel, ethanol, methanol and other fuels all have different burn rates and fuel requirements to be properly burned in an engine. Again I have no experience working on any type of marine engine but with fuel injection and computers. Almost all engine parameters are monitored and some can be adjusted to be able to keep the engine safe. Whether that needs to be to add or subtract the amount of fuel being injected into the engine or to advance or retard ignition advance. In the days of carbs and distributors you would do this mechanically. With the introduction to e10 gasoline the requirements of the fuel are slightly higher than of 100% gasoline. For instance for 100% gasoline the stoichometric value is 14.7/1 air fuel ratio. Typically with e10 fuels you are looking some where in the range of 14.3/1 air fuel ratio. With that said if you engine is unable to make the adjustments needed for the extra fuel then the engine would be in a lean condition and could potentially see some kind of pre-iginition. With computers it will monitor pre-ignition and measure it as knock and retard the ignition if it senses any knock. Typically in the automotive field you really couldn't hurt an engine by putting in premium when it calls for regular. Usually fuel recomendations from the manufacturers are a minimum. I hope this sheds some light on the op's questions.

Which Kayak
I have a Thule on top of my 4runner. It has a roller on the back and the whole thing slides toward the back. Lift the front on the roller then lift the back of the yak and slide on top of the vehicle and strap it down. My native slayer is about 70 pounds so its a bit light than a pa12 but only having to lift half the yak is very nice and easy.

They Found Snakehead
I believe I know the lake the OP is talking about. It's a private club. It's right up the street from me. The person I know also has caught snakeheads from Manor. I haven't heard of anything being caught from Van Sciver. He does believe they are not Bowfin because of the lower fin. It was a little surprising to hear about this consider the club is private. I know the lakes aren't fenced off or anything but still.

Purchased My First Kayak
Took it out for the first time this past Sunday. It was a beautiful day except for the 25 mph winds. I was being blown around like a rag doll. I took one rod out with me and was throwing a senko around a little bit but no fish. I was only out for about 1.5 hours. I'll be taking it back out this weekend. Hopefully the wind cooperates so I can get more comfortable in the yak.

Purchased My First Kayak
I was originally a little undecided on the orange but after talking to the Native reps. They convinced me to get a high vis color in case I'm on any larger bodys of water so I can be more easily seen. Luckily most of the lake around me are either electric or self powered only lakes. I must say though the orange is growing on me. I'm still waiting for my paddle to come in the mail. I'm hoping to take it out for the first time this weekend.

Purchased My First Kayak
From sitting in the Jackson and native seats at the show I felt more comfortable in the Native. Also Native is coming out with hatch covers and extra scupper plugs to seal them off if need be. Also a good option the Native rep gave me. Use the bow space as a cooler and when your day is done pull the scupper plug to drain.

Purchased My First Kayak
I went to the Jersey Paddler Paddling show in New Jersey and after looking at what seemed to be an endless amount of kayaks and canoes I finally made a decision and bought a mango Native Slayer 12. I went there really wanting to get a good look at the Native Ultimate and the Jackson Cuda but the Slayer seemed to have features that I liked from both kayaks all rolled into 1. I love the high/low seating. I like the amount of room I have around my legs but there is plenty of space and bungees to add tackle boxes, plano's and whatever else I may need on the water. It comes with recessed groove tracks almost up and down the kayak for easy customization. I also bought a very nice roof rack for my Toyota 4runner, a MTI voyager PFD which feels perfect with the high/low seat in the Slayer, and a Werner carbon fiber paddle. Unforunately I had to order the paddle in the length that I needed so hopefully it will show up sometimes this week so I can take this bad boy out for it's maiden voyage next weekend.

New Member From Pa
Hello all. I have been poking around the site for a few months now and must say this site is absolutely awesome. I recently got back into bass fishing this past summer and have learned so much in such a short amount of time because of BassResource.com. I live just outside of Philadelphia. I fish mostly small local lakes and hoping to get a kayak with my tax return money.

Left Handed Baitcaster For Crankbaits
I just purchased a Lews BB1 in left hand retrieve in the 5.1 ratio and it is a really nice reel. I also have their tourny pro. I have the BB1 paired with a veritas medium winch rod. The combo is very nice. Very comfortable and casts very far. I would def. buy a second one.
