  1. anyone else have a problem with the mag control dial changing when seetting the hook/fighting a fish? seems my hand gets in the way of it and changes the dial. I tightened the big screw in the middle of the dial and it seems to have sokved the issue. just wondering if anyone has had the same issue
  2. forget a baitcaster right now. you are just getting into it, stick with spinning.
  3. lets see some pics. i have been following your 'lift" threads and have yet to see pics
  4. stick with spinning for what you're doing. go buy a shimano symetre 2500 or 3000. if you can spend about $50 go for a stradic
  5. d**n, i've never seen or heard that happen to any reel
  6. jerkbaits. i have tried braid for every other technique in the past and it is manageable but i could not stand braid with jerkbaits. i am a big mono guy the only time i use braid is real heavy cover. i hate flouro
  7. I jut bought a wilderness systems tarpon 140 a few weeks ago. I love it! it is easy to transport (around 70lbs) and the thing moves quick! a lot easier than a jon boat for me. most of the lakes i fish are less than 100 acres and are no more than 8' deep.
  8. i used to be an all spinning gear guy but once you throw big cranks, jigs, spinnerbaits, and frogs on baitcasters you will never go back to spinning for those applications
  9. I went with the dumbbell idea because it was cheap. the 5lber holds me perfect in the small lakes/ponds i fish. i probably could have gotten away with a 3lber. all i do is clip it on behind the seat on my kayak. thanks guys
  10. I generally don't use a leader with braid. when the line starts to fade i use a black sharpie and color the line about 4' up from the bait (it's a confidence thing i guess). I have fished straight braid, braid with sharpie, and braid with leader and have not found a difference. my biggest bass was taken on straight faded green 30lb power pro
  11. Big bite baits trick stick 25pk for 5.99 on tackle warehouse. Limited colors but a good deal and ago of bait
  12. Bill Lewis rat-l-trap. if I fish deeper water I use the red eye shad. I've found the red eye runs deeper
  13. a small plano tray and i shove bags of plastics in my pockets. no reason a for a huge bag anytime for me.
  14. Looking to pickup a dumbbell to use as a cheap anchor on shallow 6' or less ponds. What weight should I get. I have a tarpon 140 which weighs about 70lbs. Any tips for rigging it? I do not have a trolley system and do not intend on getting one installed. I see some people use retractable dog leashes or clothes lines
  15. how doe it compare to senko and yum dinger? what is the fall rate like compared to the dinger
  16. not much difference between a 2000 and 2500. why not just use the 2500?
  17. i will never keep a bass.
  18. Who is using what? i was using a MH/F premier but looking for something with a little more of a slower taper
  19. i have the 7'2" MH worm and jig rod. best jig rod i have ever used. i have a shimano curado on it.
  20. 15lbbig game or 17lb trilene xl
  21. keep doing what you're doing. if you caught 6-8lbers the big girls will be around. i fish a lake with tons of pressure i took an 8 and a low 9 this yr on big spooks fishing around the golden shiner schools. good luck
